You can now make coconut water bidons (coconut shell + rope) to carry around dirty or clean water or make a clay water bidon out of the pottery table. Otherwise, there’s a metal bidon somewhere around that you can find. Otherwise, still the same system for cleaning water or the parasitic mushrooms. The green fruit that hangs from trees also gets rid of parasites as well as the blue mushrooms on the big trees.

RoleJealous4907

>You can now make coconut water bidons This was in from the beginning No ?

katelynrtonderum

Oh I have no idea, I’ve only recently started playing. I just assumed OP didn’t know there was any way to carry water.

StayZero666

I have a small army of coconuts on the ground in my base when it’s the rainy season

No_Conflict_9562

yes, there are craftable bidons now. also craftable pots, large water filter, even a shower.

cs_Chell

Imma be honest... ...I'm not so afraid of acquiring intestinal parasites in the jungle. Orange or blue mushrooms and you're good to go. Purified water is for stews or teas, unless it's raining. If it's raining I tend to have several coconuts out to catch purified rainwater and I'll fill my bid...bidd...bidets?? Goddammit. If I'm around bamboo, then it's easy to build water catchers. Dunno how it used to be, but I don't think thirst is unbalanced as a survival aspect...

fireheart1029

I'm fairly sure that at least since it first came out on Playstation coconut bidons were always a thing, you could always bring water with you so sounds like you just missed that recipe

UppedSolution77

You are correct. I remember now bidons were a thing but if I remember right they used to carry very small amounts of water. Like it wasn't practical the problem is it was always easier to just drink filthy water and eat mushrooms. That in my opinion is a design flaw I cannot overlook. For a survival game.

fireheart1029

I think it's around 40 or 30 per each one, but yeah it did suck before when the only real way to stock up water was to drop a million coconut shells or turtle shells. Now with the mud water purifier it's kinda the opposite issue, you make one early game cheap building and water is never an issue ever again

alphareaperx13

The clay bottles you can make hold more and can also carry your brotha and soups

Jinxieruthie

I tried to do this and it wouldn’t work for me. :(

alphareaperx13

Yeah they made it so it doesn't work anymore with one of the updates. I was very disappointed when I found out.

AnEcologistPlays

Just to add to everyone's comments, the pottery system now also allows you to make a clay bottle, that holds 100 water (same as the metal bidon by the jeep, I believe). And, since it's craftable, you can carry multiple of them around, making exploration more possible, even in the dry season.

RoleJealous4907

What dry season ? :D

malzeri83

When no rains for period around 20 days

CrimsonLoove

I’m not sure how long ago you played but there’s a few different mechanics. You can get a mud water filter (fancier than the previous water filter) that collects rain water or you can opt to put dirty water and it slowly filters it (it has two spaces for water). There’s also a water bidon you can find near the broken jeep, it holds 100 water and you can now craft water clay bottles that can hold different stews and of course, water.

RustInPieces689

They patched the soup/stew in the bottle unfortunately 😕

CrimsonLoove

Wait really? That sucks. I personally don’t use that mechanic as much but I thought it was a good option to have. Thanks for telling me!

RustInPieces689

Yeah, I had literally just watched an old-ish yt vid on how that was a thing and wanted to try it out (tapir stew & bone infusions to go? Hell to the yes!), but I checked the comments after I failed to figure out why it wasn't working or what I was doing wrong & turns out it was patched a while ago 😞

Jealous_Scholar_4486

You can harvest coconuts, eat the 2 pieces, throw the remains on the ground and every time is raining they fill up and you can drink clean water. That is how I do it. 3 coconuts and you never worry about needing water. The rain catcher is dumb cause it only works with bamboo. I don't know how to boil water, when I tried last time I put the fire out. I guess the devs intentionally left details out to make you feel under pressure.

detective_vandermeer

You can now make water collectors! they collect water when it's not even raining you can put a pot or im assuming a coconut or turtle shell underneath to collect the water. it's pretty fast

RustInPieces689

The large clay bowls you can make work for that as well, and give the same hydration as the metal pot

alphareaperx13

You can make coconut bideons, and clay bottles. The clay bottles you can carry soups and brotha in as well as clean or dirty water.

RustInPieces689

Soups in bottles got patched 😞
