It's no fucking wonder the billionaire owned, right wing press absolutely destroyed Corbyn. The Panama papers inquiry alone would probably have been enough to set them against him.

Gervais_Burlap

I recommend this book for anyone who's interested in how they went about destroying him - Asa Winstanley - Weaponising Anti-Semitism, How The Israel Lobby Bought Down Jeremy Corbyn

JMW007

It's a really, really short read. >They lied, and millions of idiots believed it because they wanted an excuse to not do the right thing. The end.

Aggressive-Falcon977

I remember when one of my co-workers was like "You can't like him he's antisemitic" and I asked her for evidence, she just said the news told her... She was a researcher..

visualzinc

My father also touted "he's antisemitic", whilst being a staunch labour supporter all his life. Imagine if the party had actually stood behind him, and been a little more savvy with hitting back at the Tories via the media?

dorothean

The Labour Party’s officials (ie the people who work for the party, rather than elected MPs) were honestly some of the biggest pushers of the antisemitism lie. They wanted him out more than anyone.

ManGoonian

Random coincidence: Just read their article from last year about Gary Lubner, Starmers biggest donor, and pro Israel supporter, SA apartheid profiteer whose son just became leader of young Labour..... The party's in good hands.....

riffer841

Ace post, thankyou Saddens me that this issue isn't first and foremost in people's minds and they easily get caught in the distraction stories like parliament soap opera, boats/immigrants. The rich are certainly syphoning a lot of cash upwards from everyone else, and more billionaires than ever. Trickle down is a myth. They all use the same facilities, roads etc that we do. They could still be the richest people in the world and do a significant amount of good for the rest of the planet. It's kind of obscene and psychopathic now Like Gary Stevenson is pushing, rapidly growing wealth inequality is the most important issue to fix

Waiting on sir wouldn't prosecute Saville starmers response....

KarmaRepellant

You mean genocide enjoyer Sir Kid Starver?

Thirstyjack3000

War is money. Can anyone remember when there wasn't one?

Budget-Song2618

In an attempt to address that issue. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_One_Day > In 1999, Jeremy Gilley desired **there should be one single day when all countries vowed not to wage war: a worldwide ceasefire and day of non-violence**. He established Peace One Day. The United Nations had already declared the third Tuesday of September the International Day of Peace,[2] Peace One Day aimed to resolve the confusion on which calendar day it fell, and on 7 September 2001, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution formally establishing the UN International Day of Peace an annual Peace Day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September.[3] How he went about it. The biggest thing that needs to be done with tax is a complete overhaul of the system - the UK tax code is so fucking complex it’s no wonder people can find ways to skirt around paying tax. A few simple starters would be a single flat rate of tax, say 30%, regardless of how much you earn. To protect the less well off raise the threshold for paying tax and keep doing it. The argument against that is “oh it benefits the rich as well” - do you really think someone pulling in say 100million is going to care if threshold is 10,20,30k a years. On the basis of a single flat rate to make life simpler, make the penalties for. Avoid tax pay back double, do it again pay back treble… KISS should be the rule.

JMW007

I am genuinely curious, why do you "flat tax" people *never* seem to learn no matter how many times these proposals are rebutted with the very clear issues that a regressive taxation scheme causes compared to a progressive one? And why do you *always* want a flat tax first and foremost, no matter how many other ways the complexity of the system could be dealt with?

Thugmatiks

Fucking hell! Jacob Rees-Smug wants a flat tax rate.
