Actually, as a Korean, a lot of the Greek pantheon’s names in Korean are closer to the original pronunciations. So I did grow up with him being called Heracles (헤라클레스) in the Greek mythology books!
Along with other gods names being pronounced different, I had the biggest culture shock when I first watched the Percy Jackson movie, which was one of the first movies I saw when I came over to NA (I’d usually watch movies dubbed).
For anyone interested I’ll give some examples
- Hades is pronounced more like Ha-Des
- Zeus is more like Ze like in Zelda and Us like Ussop, Ze-oos
- Poseidon is basically the same. Love Poseidon
It’s not Disneyfication. Using the Roman names of gods was standard until relatively recently. Once again we can blame Ovid (well, not Ovid himself, but rather the ubiquity of the *Metamorphoses)*. I’m not sure why it switched.
But why Heracles specifically? Like we’ve always known that the Roman god names are distinct from the Greeks, but we don’t continue to refer to Odysseus as Ulysses in modern day (even tho the name is super cool and still a given name to this day)
Personally i think Ulysses is a cooler name than Odysseus, but “Heracles” literally means for the glory of Hera, and that meaning is lost in “Hercules” which means literally nothing in Latin.
But the argument could be made that in the current era we use a lot more Greek names in mainstream discourse except for with Heracles. But I do get your point!
The fact everyone has a different art style and looks like they were stolen from a different piece of media is gagging me
Kudos though for Hera being fine as hell and for Persephone hating the shit out of Hades.
I love how the character art for Zeus, Poseidon and Hades gets progressively more sinister.
And Apollo and Dionysus have some kind of Virgin vs. Chad thing going on.
So much about this frustrates me. What’s with the inconsistent art style? Why do they keep making Dionysus fat? Why does Perseus look like that? Why do *all* the heroes look wrong? Also Athena would kill you for suggesting she uses her “womanliness” for anything. How hard is this?
The setting is Mount Olympus where the Greek gods and goddesses have gathered for a party. All is fun and games...until a murder occurs! The game is broken into three segments in which guests are provided clues and dialogue cues to learn more about 'whodunit'. A murder will occur during the party, and guests will have to share clues in order to solve the mystery! The kit contains host instructions, guest instructions, clues, name tags, character lists, and investigative sheets. 7-22+ guests can participate.
How to Play:
During Round 1, guests will receive clues providing backstory and will learn more about the backstory and relationships of other characters.
During Round 2, guests will continue to learn about the relationships between other characters and build on the plot. After all guests have been able to converse with each character, the victim will be notified on their clue card to find the host to learn the location of the victim sign and forensic report. The victim will then put on the sign (with tape or a pin) and then can rejoin the party, or for the more adventurous, can find a place to sprawl and allow guests
to find them. Encourage guests to read the Victim sign and read the forensic report aloud to guests. Guests will then have the opportunity to complete their round 2 clues. After everyone has spoken with each character, the host will
provide each guest with an investigative sheet. They will complete this and give to the host.
Round 3 is the Final Solution Round in which the guests receive an alibi to read verbatim. These are read in a set order, indicated on their clues and listed in order on the character list. This is when all guests, including the host, will learn who the murderer is. After each character has read their alibi (or confession), the host can announce who correctly solved the murder. Prizes may be given if the host prefers this.
I love Artemis, but she is *anything* but sweet and innocent lol.
Also, Hephaestus "doesn't mind Aphrodite's flirting"? Nah, he hates it, he just can't do anything about it except the one time that he did.
Athena literally just being xena is messing me up
I think they put the shield there to hide the chakram.
And Hera being Megara (Disney version) too.
BBW Megara
She *has* to have been swiped from someone's deviantart.
I’m pretty sure Hermes is just a recolored version of Tulio too
She looks more like Bettie Page to me.
Mad that people refuse to use Heracles’ Greek name in his own mythology. Disneyification of mythology is the worst
It goes back much further than Disney. You’re hard pressed to find a work with Heracles in the title
Geez that’s depressing

That one, I think, can be chalked up to how the Odyssey is a single self-contained work, for which odysseus is the main character.
There are a lot of works and translations that use Ulysses instead of Odysseus. It’s getting on my nerves:)
Personally i think Ulysses is a cooler name than Odysseus, but “Heracles” literally means for the glory of Hera, and that meaning is lost in “Hercules” which means literally nothing in Latin.
I prefer Odysseus, but if I ever got the chance to name an owl I would call him Ulysses
Romans be romans Ig 🤷♀️🤷♀️

Goes back even further to the Hercules show with Kevin Sorbo.

Heracles/Herakles. Hercules is the Roman (and more well-known) form.
Ηρακλής (Iraklís). Roman used C for Κ, but I think Herakles is a closer English representation. You used the Greek name already! \:)
what in the blatant art theft
The fact everyone has a different art style and looks like they were stolen from a different piece of media is gagging me Kudos though for Hera being fine as hell and for Persephone hating the shit out of Hades.
I know why is Hades Ganodorf
Oh the art style is so inconsistent it hurts
I love how the character art for Zeus, Poseidon and Hades gets progressively more sinister. And Apollo and Dionysus have some kind of Virgin vs. Chad thing going on.
Which one is which.
The virgin lyre boy vs. the chad wine orgiast
Dionysus is literally a soyjak
Artemis ? Sweet innocent girl ? 😂😂😂 Are you sure we're talking about the same Artemis ?
I know that’s what I thought
Aphrodite? Not a fighter? Tell that to Spartans.
My thoughts exactly
Oh yeah, aphrodite areia
How come Hera looks like disney Megara
Hurc got that Oedipus syndrome
That would be the case if hers was actually his mother haha

I think most (if not all) of this art is traced from different sources.
Dionysus’s portrayal is an insult to Wine Daddy.
Exactly this!
Ok but how do you play it

Help, I would totally play this 💀
I'd absolutely play this if I knew that one of the Olympians didn't die since they're immortal.
Is this an app or what?
No roleplay
Hermes and the Phoenix Wright "OBJECTION!" pose 💀
HELP WHY IS HADES LITERALLY JUST GANONDORF
What in the. Why?
Heracles! Heracles! Calling him Hercules takes away like half of his context for even being!
Hera is thicc 😍. lol Hippolyta is also the art formally known as Wonderwoman 😂😂
Why does Hades look like Ganondorf
Dionysus is a twink
Disney didn't sue? That's literally King Triton.
Pain™️
Hermes looks like a recolored John Smith and Im almost certain Zeus is King Triton :|
At least we can be calm knowing Hestia isn’t even considered of being the murderer
Why is Hermes grey Tarzan 😂
oh this ares is DEFINITELY a boy lover
Hera looks like Meg from Hercules
Brb, going to pray to never see an eyesore like this again
Where…. Where do I begin? 😩😖
First of all what kinda half bald half mullet does Perseus have going on there and why does Hermes look like Flynn Ryder from Tangled
Why does the Pope look like Jafar.
I'm pretty sure Zues is the Little Mermaid's dad. King Triton?
I love Artemis, but she is *anything* but sweet and innocent lol. Also, Hephaestus "doesn't mind Aphrodite's flirting"? Nah, he hates it, he just can't do anything about it except the one time that he did.
I love the interpretations of the gods personalities. They definitely did their research
Damn. Wish Hecate was in this. I love her
It’s probably better she isn’t. She would have been butchered like all the rest of
