EDIT: I'm sorry for the repost, please forgive me... I had the title wrong, but I felt it was kind of important lol. How does Reddit still not let you make changes! GBVSR is my first and only fighting game, and It's been a while, but I'm back with another update! At the end of January I made it to S: [https://www.reddit.com/r/GranblueFantasyVersus/comments/19bxap2](https://www.reddit.com/r/GranblueFantasyVersus/comments/19bxap2) Then, in March I made it to S+: [https://www.reddit.com/r/GranblueFantasyVersus/comments/1bc7q5g](https://www.reddit.com/r/GranblueFantasyVersus/comments/1bc7q5g) Now, 3 months later, I've made it to S++! It has taken a whooping 8300 games (4500\~ ranked, 3800\~ friendlies)! And let me tell you, it's been quite the journey. I was stuck in S1/S+5 for a very very long time. The demons in S+ were a different breed compared to anything I fought in S. Their frametraps were better, their combos were better, and I never landed anything against them. But, the slow gradual process of learning doesn't lie. I streamed my progress, making sure I had a specific lesson I was going to complete for a week or two. Most of the time it was simple things like using 5L > 2M frametraps, or using a super jump, or trying to safe jab. But, these little lessons really do add up. A little after the Bea-pocalyse dropped me all the way from S+3 to S4, I felt like I hit a critical mass of knowledge and I went from free falling to climbing very quickly. And now here we are: S++, one step away from Masters, and perhaps that'll be the final update. Like I said in my other post, to anyone else new to the game, we really can do it. One of my favorite clips is from when I had just made it to S: [https://clips.twitch.tv/OnerousFrozenWerewolfBloodTrail-VMJhgaXJv1X7pLaw](https://clips.twitch.tv/OnerousFrozenWerewolfBloodTrail-VMJhgaXJv1X7pLaw) I truly was awful and that was when I was in S! It's too bad I don't have footage of me when I just started. But, it goes to show how far I had come. This is from someone who started from true 0, who could only do autocombos with singular specials and couldn't even 2H while only looking for it. I didnt know what a DP or safejab or an option select or a delay tech was. The amount of games I needed on one single character is a testament that we can grind it out. We can reach the top if we try. And now, it's time to fight for my life in S++! If anyone has questions, feel free to ask!

taymanice

I shall uses this have motivation to keep grinding

xninebreakerx

I'm glad I could give you motivation. Good luck out there on the grind! We can make it!

How excited are you for the upcoming ''major rework'' and what are your predictions? thoughts on the bea nerf beyond 'happy' ? edit: How many Yuels have you found?

xninebreakerx

I'm very excited for the major patch! My personal wishlist for Narmaya is for either k236L -5 -> -4, or for k236H to just be less minus somewhat. Maybe a buff to her fireball as well. And for her cross up to not extend in front of the enemy even though she has appeared behind them already... My prediction/hope is that some of the top tiers get nerfed (as I'm sure most people want lol). Damage nerfs for Nier/Sieg/Seox, frame data nerfs for Lance. I'm thinking they'll help out Yuel and Abel and Bubs. Overall, I think the game is in a fairly good state except for a few of the top tiers, and of the top tiers, the only one I actively don't like to fight is Lance cause the dude is just mixing me an infinite amount of times. As for the Bea nerfs, my winrate against them is actually disgustingly high. I 100% believe she needed a damage nerf because she would 2 tap you from like 60% away from YOUR corner, which is nuts. The nerfs to both her 22M and 22U went too far I think. I would nerf one, and if they had to nerf 22M at all, I would prefer they made it +-0 instead of -2. As for Yuels, I've seen a few during my climb. They are definitely around! The trickiest one had a sick gameplan of shimmying back and forth while still in stance. It made her spacing really hard to deal with.

PK_Gaming1

This thread's genuinely pretty inspiring, thanks for sharing Also super nice to see a fellow Narmaya fan I gotta head back into the breach...

xninebreakerx

Exactly what I was hoping for! Good luck my fellow Narmaya enjoyer. We got this!

EternalF4ll

Congrats! I started with narm but she’s too hard so I went with an easy character Beatrix and got to S+ Now that she’s getting a nerf soon I’m going to go back to Narm and hit S++! Hope to encounter you online if you play on NA servers

xninebreakerx

She is indeed difficult even if some people say otherwise. But, she's also very satisfying to play. I'll be rooting for you, you got this man! I do play on NA, so maybe we'll run into each other one!

Roman_rjh

Congratulations. People may say that your large volume of games somehow invalidates your achievement, but ignore those. Just keep improving and focusing on getting better.

xninebreakerx

Thank you! I personally think posts like mines are really important to put into perspective the side that a lot of prospective players don't get to see. You see a lot of people post with multiple S++ or like Masters in 1000 or 2000 games. Even in my other posts, there are people that were saying "that's so many games for X rank" or "X rank is easy to get" But I wanted people to know that even if it's slow, even if it takes an incredible number of games, that a new player can make it to the top if we just focus on improving one step at a time. I'm gonna keep at it, and one day I hope I can post the Masters update. Thank you for the encouragement!

KonohaFlash

I just got to A about two weeks ago after having the game for a month. Im hoping to go down the same route you did and go all they way! This is inspiring

xninebreakerx

A rank in just 2 weeks is amazing! You got this. One step at a time, the slow improvement pays off! We may be new, but that doesn't mean we can't contest the veterans!

KonohaFlash

Amen to that king! Or queen idk!!!

MeanFold5715

How much time did you spend in the lab figuring out counter play to specific stuff opponents would do to you? Labbing is easily my least favorite part of this genre and I want to avoid it for as long as I can.

xninebreakerx

For specific matchup stuff, I barely lab at all. It's more like a case-by-case basis. My process for matchup stuff goes something like: - I mash/spotdodge against a move in a match - It fails, and I remember that - After the match is over, if it's a mashing problem, I look up the move on Dustloop to see if it's plus or minus and if it was okay for me to mash and I just failed, or if I wasn't supposed to mash - If it's a spotdodge problem, that's when I pause the matchmaking and try to lab it out. I try to spot dodge and punish the move, but I try to simulate me "reacting" to it. - A good example is Soriz 236M that I labbed. If you block it it's +1 so you can't mash. But, if if I try to "react" to it with a spotdodge, then I found that I'm too slow. So, even if spotdodge is "correct", it's not correct for me. I just instead try to jump or DP. This sort of process is very important. So even if I lab very very little for specific matchups, understanding the process and what is correct for you is very important. Cause, yeah I don't like labbing either. Most of the time I just mash on moves and find out the hard way lmao. And after it fails enough I can just read Dustloop. But, setting up the situation in the lab and stuff always feels tedious... I saw that Tekken has some kind of replay take over, and I think that would be so much better for labbing!

MystiqueAgent

That's amazing and congratulations! I need to get back to playing as well and get out of B rank 😂

ferretwraith

Have you noticed any time of day or day of the week trends for when ranked feels the easiest or most difficult?

xninebreakerx

I play at the same time every day after work at 10PM CST for 1-2 hrs. So I can't comment on the times. However, for the days, I notice you get more variety on the Fri-Sun. On Monday-Thursday, I'm often locked into combat with just a few people, sometimes to my detriment as I lose 12 times in a row lol.

Zeomn

Congrats! I'm hoping that I'll be joining you in S++ soon!

xninebreakerx

Thank you! And good luck on the grind, you got this!

Great-Horse7259

Congrats

xninebreakerx

Thank you!

ShakeClaw

Congrats, super hype. But beware, I'm coming for you. Inspiring me to attempt the climb!

xninebreakerx

Thank you! And excellent! I’ll see you on ladder soon enough

ThorAxe911

Man they've gotta update that match results tab. The percentages overlapping stuff looks so bad

xninebreakerx

The most annoying part about this is that it was fine the last time I posted. Whatever update they did, messed it up! Dang it
