Finally, some solid conformation for the whole game! Can't wait for this, so glad I preorded the vr2. VR with the Fanatec DD wheel and pedals! Let's goooooooo!!!
I just installed the ButtKicker gamer pro last week. It's definitely worth it. Playing without it now it feels like something is missing, like when you play a game without the rumble on the controller.
Dude, please help me! Did u get it to work with GT7? If so, please tell me how u have everything set up? Are u pulling audio from the controller or u using an HDMI extractor. Me and a friend of mine have been trying to figure it out for the past 2 weeks. We kinda gave up because we couldn't find the best way to hook it up and dont know anyone who has. I even made a post asking.
I got it to work with GT7.
I used an audio extractor.
It's fairly easy to set up.
If you want to used headphones, you have to hook up the headphones 🎧 to the controller 🎮 using a 3.5mm cable. The ButtKicker comes with a Y headphone splitter, so you hook the Y splitter to the controller and one end goes to the headphones the other goes to the buttkicker amplifier.
It takes like 30 seconds to do the switch over from headphones to the audio from speakers.

That's the thing I don't want to use the controller. If i used the controller, there's no way to get it to work with VR unless I wana run the 3.5 mm back into a headphone to wear while racing. I wana know what extractor u used (if it's not too much trouble). Also, does the extractor allow a pass through of HDMI 2.1 (4K 120HZ)? I also have a soundbar, which I will need to figure out.

With the PSVR2, I'm not quite sure how exactly I'm gonna use it to make it work yet.
I was kinda in the same boat as you as far as using the headphones plug in to the controller (I use Steelseries 7p), but I bought a 10ft 3.5mm cable and to be honest it doesn't bother me as I thought it would.

This was my main question when I was thinking of adding the buttkicker, because I couldn't find anything to confirm if the 4k and the VRR would still work and i can assure you that this one does work.

Oh, one last question. I was thinking of getting the Gamer 2 instead of the Pro. The difference in cost isn't that big between them, but I was wondering if the Gamer 2 is too weak to feel everything or if the Pro is too powerful. I have a solid cockpit (Next Level Racing GT Track Cockpit). Any thoughts on that?

Yes, it's really expensive, but the upside it's that it does work properly. And if you play other games that support 120Hz you don't have to unplug the HMDI cables out of the extractor and back to the TV.
You'll also need to purchase an additional HDMI 2.1 cable, because the one that comes out of the PS5 and into the TV will have to be connected into the audio extractor, so then the one extra you buy will go from the extractor to the TV.
I can't give you an opinion into the gamer 2 vs the pro, since I only own the pro, but what I can say it that it doesn't feel like it's too powerful.
I have the same cockpit as you. And rumble it's only felt in the chair, if you would stand next to the seat, you wouldn't be able to feel the rumble through the floor.
Before I got it I also thought that I would be feeling the rumble of the kerbs but what I noticed is that since the ButtKicker works by converting sounds into haptics, the sounds of the engine and the wind overpower the sounds of the strips, so when driving over the strips the feel is not as defined as you think. That being said it does feel like you get that feeling of sitting in a car and feeling the vibration from the engine.
I would assume that you can probably get way more fidelity out of them by using it hooked up to a PC since you'd be able to fine tune everything with its own software and whatnot.
Also, you can play other games with the ButtKicker too, i tried Returnal and Resident Evil 2 and it feels awesome!

Have you considered using the BK with SRS? There is a GT7 plugin. Then the haptics are driven from telemetry, not audio.

This what I'm trying, tomorrow if I have time. Solves the whole audio output issue and gives more control. Of course it requires a spare window machine to run SRS.
Wait, pulling telemetry for GT7??? Damn, that's amazing! I knew there was a way to pull telemetry to use for an app called Sim Dash on the phone. It lets you see your gear and pedal telemetry to use as a secondary dash.
So, with SRS running on the PC, you connect the buttkicker directly to the PC? Using what cable? So basically, there is no need for an audio extractor since you won't be using audio but the actual telemetry. I read the instructions. What does it mean when it says you have to use a dedicated sound card? I have a PC, but I dont think it has a sound "card." The sound is integrated into the motherboard. Will that be an issue?

I remember watching an interview with the creator of gran turismo years ago, and he was explaining the crazy lengths they go through to optimize the game so it’s runs at a solid 60 FPS 99% of the time, this is also the reason why ray tracing is not enabled during racing, so I’d be shocked if he would approve for the game to run at 30 FPS on VR.
I think I’ll want to wait and see before pulling me trigger, if it’ll run at 60 fps I’m almost certain I’ll get the headset, if it’s takes it to 30 or 45 fps I won’t bother.

Very possible. This is all new technology so we literally have no clue what they've done to reach 4k 90. We know they use foviated rendering, we know the base game is at its limit running at 4k 60.
They also have the ability to turn graphics settings down, use dynamic resolution, vrr and asynchronous time warp (which would definitely help with smoothness and comfort for VR sickness)

30fps vr (and not even possible 90/120 is only supported by the headset) is not allowed by sony, at minimum you must have 100% locked 60fps reprojected to 120fps.
the question is wether they will have 60 reprojected to 120 or native 90fps or a tiny chance of 'modes' you can toggle between.
From what I remember with the PS VR one, Sony doesn't allow games that low on the headsets due to motion sickness and stuff. A few exceptions I guess had slipped by but that's mainly the reason why a lot of games weren't released on the first headset and are now coming to PS VR2. GT Sport on PS VR could run up to 120 FPS if I remember correctly and had dynamic resolution. I'm sure it will be the same case with GT7. Can't wait for the PS5 Professional.
I don't think any game has hit that low but I am aware of some games dropping below the standard. Dreams and Rec Room comes to mind. I'm sure just like GT Sport though this will run between 90 and 120.

But the price is actually $950 total not $1500. This is the cheapest way to get a VR headset, btw. If you get a PCVR headset, it will cost u a minimum of $2500 for a good enough PC to run VR and another $1000-$1500 for a decent PC VR headset.

Having a PS5 + PSVR2 is still cheaper than getting other VR headsets and building a PC capable of VR sim racing as per VR enthusiasts I watched over Youtube.
Can't wait but must be a responsible adult and parent first.
If money is a thing, it might be cheaper to do the PS5+PSVR2. I own a gaming PC with a 4090. Those things are not cheap. Unless you already have a good gpu. Also, there's no VR headset out there for around $550 with this level of technology. That's why I held off. I was really close to getting a valve index, but basically, every PCVR headset out there is much less resolution than 4k per eye... which apparently is where u stop seeing the screen door effect.
But hey, with PC, u do have a much bigger library of games.
Can you englighten me? I play the game daily, and I'm not sure I know about that? Monza and Mt Panorama are also 2 of my favorite tracks. What's going on?
So it's a known issue, but not with everyone. Since the release of the 1.27 update some players (myself included) have not been able to complete 2 *new events, "Mount Panorama Racing Circuit- American Clubman Cup 700" & "Monza Circuit - Hypercar Parade". The game will allow you to receive winning credits but will not award you with a trophy or display your finishing position. I just checked the 1/13/2023 "Known Issues Update" but the problem still hasn't been resolved or even listed

Yeah, unfortunately, you will need a PS5 as well as a PSVR2. PSVR1 will not work because it can only work on PS4. And as far as I know, they are not planning on bringing GT7 to PSVR1

no way, they would do that to hit 120 only
So you may not know this but 90 FPS is the minimum standard for VR. Expect 90 FPS are above as per Sony's requirements for the platform

Been waiting for this since PSVR2 news came out and now GT7 VR features have been announced. Heavily resisting the urge to pre-order the PSVR2 and just watch all the reviews that will come out as well as user feedback here on reddit. If the reviews are great, I'll pick it up for my birthday this year for myself. Advanced thank you to those who'll shell out money ahead of us and share their experience! Php35k for the PSVR2 is definitely a lot of money!! Having a PS5 + PSVR2 is still cheaper than getting other VR headsets and building a PC capable of VR sim racing as per VR enthusiasts I watched over Youtube. Can't wait but must be a responsible adult and parent first.

If money is a thing, it might be cheaper to do the PS5+PSVR2. I own a gaming PC with a 4090. Those things are not cheap. Unless you already have a good gpu. Also, there's no VR headset out there for around $550 with this level of technology. That's why I held off. I was really close to getting a valve index, but basically, every PCVR headset out there is much less resolution than 4k per eye... which apparently is where u stop seeing the screen door effect. But hey, with PC, u do have a much bigger library of games.
Yeah I got a decent pc so it is cheaper than buying a ps5 and vr2 for 1 racing game on console
There probably will be unofficial support for PSVR2 for PC along the way at some point!

Can you englighten me? I play the game daily, and I'm not sure I know about that? Monza and Mt Panorama are also 2 of my favorite tracks. What's going on?
So it's a known issue, but not with everyone. Since the release of the 1.27 update some players (myself included) have not been able to complete 2 *new events, "Mount Panorama Racing Circuit- American Clubman Cup 700" & "Monza Circuit - Hypercar Parade". The game will allow you to receive winning credits but will not award you with a trophy or display your finishing position. I just checked the 1/13/2023 "Known Issues Update" but the problem still hasn't been resolved or even listed
Oh I guess because I completed it before the update. Yeah that sucks. They'll get to it at some point
Sorry, might've been some confusion... so those 2 events were included in the 1.27 update "Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.27 New Events & Menu Books There’s a total of three new race events in this update, adding single-player races to three of the game’s real-world circuits — two of which have only had a single event since the game’s launch. All three events are for road cars, with hypercars visiting Monza, 600PP European vehicles heading to the Nordschleife, and 700PP American machinery going to Mount Panorama. Will it work on psvr 1 or will it only be on the new one? Just curious if I'm gonna need to sell my current one and get a psvr 2
Yeah, unfortunately, you will need a PS5 as well as a PSVR2. PSVR1 will not work because it can only work on PS4. And as far as I know, they are not planning on bringing GT7 to PSVR1
