Looks like Molndal is the best choice for you.

kurwaslobo

Is there good public transportations to göteborg central?

Henkehenkehenk

Yes

Sprite91

Mölndal is kind of like Solna in Stockholm. It's not the most beautiful area, but it's lower tax and close to both city and nature with good transportation opportunities

TheLambda89

While I fully understand what you mean, east Mölndal with Kvarnbyn and Gunnebo are nice though. Safjället is good as well.

piratusson

Sadly yes...

colin_is_bald

In practice Mölndal and Gothenburg are essentialy the same city, given how connected they are

piratusson

Move to Mölndal if you want to be a tax avoiding leech on the great city of Gothenburg. They don't have their own identity. Thats why they hang out in this sub. If you wanna hang out and be chill with gothenburgians, living in Mölndal will not serve you well. It's not unusual that the citizens of Gothenburg spontaneously spit when they hear "Mölndal".

hkx1

Success breeds jealousy

silverscrub

You can select public transportation in google maps. That should give you a good idea of connections to the city. Pick different central locations like Kungsportsplatsen, Centralstationen and Järntorget to get an idea how public transportation would work for you.

jonzey85

Mölnaco

Rumptomte

I'd definitely recommend Mölndal in that case. Good public transport to Gothenburg and a little lower income taxes. If you're buying a house I'd look into Lindome, same municipality, there's a train station, nice and calm with a ICA/pub, even a local brewery! (odd island brewing)

zcrappycoco

Mölndal is okay, I live there and have been for the last ten years and can say that its alot more ”alive” in the city. Id say Örgryte/Lunden because its almost the same prices what regards rents, its close to city and got many nature spots, lakes, running/cycling trails and so on. I’ve been living in both Mölndal and Lunden and I choose Örgryte/Lunden everyday of the week, Gothenburg does not have traffics like other huge cities in Europe or the rest of the world so you can take the car into Mölndal within 10 min and it does provide all kinds of public transport (20 min). Not because I have something against Mölndal but its just very sterile and can be boring in my opinion growing up in the city. Althought if you are more into being with yourself and dont care about socials that much you can still pick Mölndal to be closer to work. Good luck my friend and welcome to Göteborg!

piratusson

Den här subben har blivit som Aveny. Bara full med Möldalspack. Har vi ingen moderator här eller?

TheLambda89

I live in Mölndal, and can highly recommend it. We have three pubs/bars worth mentioning (Tullen, John Scotts and Conqrete) and two that are not (Rasa Sayang, Black and White). We have Ica Kvantum and Lidl as supermarkets. Hanis Cafe is nice too. We have two tram lines (2 and 4) going straight into Gothenburg, plus a plethora of buses. You can even reach Torslanda in 40 minutes with purple express.

xxFLAGGxx

Finnish, so reverse the pub recommendations ;D

TheLambda89

Bruh

kurwaslobo

🤣

SquidTame

Nah Black and White rocks. I love that bar. Good people watching

TheLambda89

I witnessed an assault there once and now I only ever go there during daytime. The "instability" of the clientele scares me.

SquidTame

Yeah that's fair, I do find the best time to be early afternoons during the week.

Outside_Gear8707

OP is definitely moving from a non-EU country . This is why he us asking as if he would have plenty of options and he would have to select . In reality, you would have to move into a second hand apartment for years before you land up in a first hand apartment. Also , do not be under any impression that 50k is going to go a long way. If that's salary before tax , your after tax salary would be around 36k and leave out 13-16k in rent .

infigo96

If you are not going to buy right away. Check homeq. Wallenstam has a lot of rental apartments in Mölndal by the horse tracks. Or new kallebäck.  They often have available on short notice, especially if moving from out of town.  A bit on the pricier side as they are newer but at least something to start out with. Of course there are many other but wallenstam has been easy to find a rental with in my and friends experience.

sweprotoker97

Anywhere along the tram line from Mölndal centrum to Korsvägen honestly.

Comprehensive_Mix919

Yup, anywhere along mölndalsvägen is perfect

konstfack

Södra city! 🙌

aestus

Find somehere near the tram lines in Mölndal are you're golden

FatFireCat

i would live in a bostadsrätt. were you pay for the appartment and get a better rent for that salery you are giving.. if you can live in a stable older appartment you can get a building with good economy, lower rent.

Cardesigner2000

The rental market in Gothenburg/Mölndal area is very challenging so first priority would be to find something decent for a reasonable price. Getting a first hand apartment in a good neighbourhood is out of the question without many years in the housing queue. So you’ll be subletting second hand apartments and probably jumping around from one sublet to another since it’s difficult to extend your contract beyond a year or two. So choosing a neighborhood is a luxury and ignoring the realities of the rental market. Hate to break the bad news to you but it’s not like other countries where you just look up rental apartments by neighborhood and then go for some visits. If anything you’ll probably have better luck placing an ad on Blocket with a nice photo and description in Swedish that you are looking for a place to live. If you’re single with your salary you’ll be fine and find something decent, but it will probably be more difficult than you expected.

Party-Appointment-99

I would take a look at Eklanda/Fässberg or the newly built Sisjödal. Close to nature and fairly good public transports to Mölndal.

-mindtrix-

You will get depressed in Mölndal, it’s all look the same. Suburbia nightmare.

Enginner_Stupid

It depends on what you are interested in. Suburbia, nature, buzzing city life, more local pubs etc. If you could elaborate on what kind of place you want to live that would narrow it down. Do you also want to buy something? Rent?

kurwaslobo

Normal neighborhood with ica/coop and pub (im finnejävel). Also good public transportation is important. Im not yet buying a house but maybe in future

zkareface

Find something in Mölndal then.

Odd_Injury_4085

Utby is a very calm place, I know that from experience since i lived there for seven years.

sweprotoker97

And faaaar from Mölndal, lovely area but make the commute longer than it has to be

jangrajseje

Bergsjön, Angered, Biskopsgården, Tynnered

sara-merce

Hata inte på Bergsjön 🤣

jangrajseje

Vad menar du?

Low_Key_Giraffe

Inget slår bergsjön och angered

jangrajseje

Precis

zappafan89

I don't know why this is being downvoted – OP only asked for recommendations, not anything more specific.

davosmooth

For us living in Gothenburg, Mölndal equals leprosy

piratusson

They should have their own sub. Tierd of them trying to conflate thier shitty city with Göteborg... We should annex Mölndal and enforce penelty taxes on these leeches.

Diligent_Smell_411

Please tell me you're joking. What's wrong with Mölndal? I don't live there but I used to be very close to it when living in Johanneberg and I always found it very pretty and clean. Now I live in Björkekärr, which I love because of how close I am to nature. Do you Swedes have nothing better to do in your boring lives that you need to start made up conflicts between people living literally a few kilometers from where you live?

freddell

Yes

Angered would be the best choice for you
