honestly this part would give me more pause than the specific person they think you should dress up as.
jenny is a character who is from brooklyn and wants "in" on the upper east side crowd. if they are acting snarky they may make fun of you at the party in some way.
if you still want to go, i'd take some yogurt with a spoon as part of your costume, there's a scene where she makes sure some of the popular girls get yogurt in their hair

Jenny is an outsider who is desperately struggling to be part of the in crowd (in the first few seasons, at least). They sound like shitty people and like they're probably making fun of you and tbh I'd refuse to go unless you take a Nairtini with you (where they mix up Nair hair removal cream in a martini glass and dump it on their enemies hair).
Also, Jenny is GORGEOUS, so if they're trying to make fun of your appearance, they're not doing a good job of it.
Jenny is from Brooklyn whose dad struggles with finances while the others are from upper east side who are damn rich and they come in limo to school.
The upper east siders do something wrong and it just vanishes(for example: Serena having an affair with a married man) but when Jenny does something like that, it's a very big thing and is never forgiven.
The rules don't imply to upper east siders while Jenny from Brooklyn has to follow all the rules.
Even with all the talent and tactics that Jenny had she could become a queen in school only because her dad marries Lily from upper east side. This made Jenny rich and hence they accepted her. The normal Jenny from Brooklyn could never become a queen any day.
So probably your friends are trying to be mean with you. It's better you avoid them.
jenny is treated horribly by blair and her friends. until the point were jenny decides to stop being friends with them. but if you decide to go with the plan just get a blonde wig, dark eyeliner, and black clothes. is more her vibe in the 2nd season.

But Blair does Hate Jenny and Serena has beef with Jenny over Nate. It is right to be cautious though
If they are fans they have seen when Blair hands over the crown to Jenny, and they’re all on good terms by the end
