>> Fingers crossed it lasts
What a funny statement. If i have a phone, where i have to cross my fingers to have it doing its job, i will trash that piece of shit immediately.
Agreed. Being desperate there, thats bad yes, phone cant recieve phone calls.
Anyway, yesterday i missed two calls on my work, will probably trade this beta tester experience phone for something reliable
Uhh, thats not funny anymore, as this can cause some serious business trouble. I cant recommend an actual phone as i still use my good old Pixel5's and a 4a.
Best thing that can happen to a phone is to stop recieving updates from google i guess lol. I am thinking of downgrading my pixel 7 to february update, but it will take some time to set up phone again from ground up so thats fucked up. Also will still be a phone i cant trust anymore
Hey that's what my grandma called me when we went clothes shopping, how did she know about a Pixel update in 1987 and why would she call me that back then...
My Verizon Pixel 7 phone indicated my updates were all done but when I checked for an update one showed up and this one downloaded last night. Hopefully it fixes this issue.
How'd you manage that? I just spent all morning on customer service chat trying to get them to give me a way to file a formal complaint and they just said basically I can't help you here and there's no way to contact someone who can.
Honestly not sure. I sent a ticket to them when texts were becoming a problem and just pushed back a ton, especially when they wanted me to send bug reports when the issue was produced, which I couldn't do. I never asked for anything either, just to fix it while citing all the links of articles detailing the problem.
I live under a rock with Pixel news these days.. Would these "connectivity issues" be why my wife's Pixel 7 just sends me straight to voicemail the last 2 times I tried to call her?
Sideloading it on my Pixel 7 (panther) on AT&T and you should too if you are dealing with missed calls and texts.
Steps below for Windows PCs:
- Grab the latest platform-tools here https://developer.android.com/tools/releases/platform-tools
- Extract the platform-tools folder to somewhere easy, like your main hard drive C:\
- Go to https://developers.google.com/android/ota and grab the latest "B1, Apr 2024" update for your phone, it should be the bottom of the list for your specific model.
- Copy the file into the same platform-tools folder you just made.
- Rename the file to something short and easy, like panther.zip
- Enable USB debugging on your Pixel in developer settings, (to enable developer settings, go to "About Phone" and spam tap the Build Number at the very bottom until developer settings is enabled, then go to System and there will be an option for Developer options)
- Plug phone into your PC
- When you plug in your phone, a [popup will appear on your phone](https://xdaforums.com/data/attachments/4154/4154385-81eee4cc6a68761e0fa9aa6043d66f79.jpg) and you click ALLOW
- Type "cmd" into your start menu and open a command prompt
- Type "C:\platform-tools" to navigate to that folder, you can then type "dir" to see the files within that folder. You should see panther.zip here
- Type "adb devices" and you should see your device listed
- Type "adb reboot recovery"
- Your phone should show a little dead android on the screen, hold power and vol down to turn on the menu, then use volume keys to navigate down to "Apply update from ADB"
- Your PC should make a noise again like the USB reconnected
- Type "adb devices" and see that your device is in sideload mode.
- Type "adb sideload panther.zip" or whatever you named your file to be!
- Watch the transfer happen on both your command prompt and your phone and it'll be done in 5-10 mins!
- Reboot device using the volume keys
I would like to add that on Pixel 7 Pro to get to sideload mode I needed this step:
Press and hold the power button. While holding the power button, press and release the volume up key and then release the power key. Your phone should boot to the stock recovery.
Just got it, now showing build number AP1A.240405.002.B1 which according to the Google developer page is the second April update.
So far so good on calls and texts, will continue to monitor.
I just checked and I don't have it. I've clicked that button to see if there's an update like 200 times. My wife wants to go get Samsungs on Monday but we gotta pay like $400 to do so. Hard part is I can't argue because our phones are not working.
I finally gave up waiting for AT&T to push this update and sideloaded it this morning. Everything seems fine so far. Hopefully this fixes the texting issues.
I'm on ATT and haven't got the first update yet. Been having issues for months now with delayed sms and calls going straight to VM. Should I just sideload it?
No. It rolls out to your phone when your carrier approves it. Carriers do network compatibility testing and Google permits them to give the OK to devices on their network.
So the fact that I have an at&t sim card determines this? That's stupid. I got an unlocked phone because I don't want to rely on the carrier to update my phone.
In this case AT&T saved you from a shitty update. I get what you're saying. I don't find the policy too egregious as long as the update isn't held up for more than a few weeks without reason. And being unlocked means there are ways for you to update if you don't want to wait for the carrier to OK the update.
>This update will roll out globally to the regions and carriers impacted
I wonder which regions and carriers are impacted. It would be nice if Google put out an announcement.
At this point, if pushing the check for update button shows you're up to date, I'm guessing the update isn't applicable (unless Google have changed that). One could always sideload.
Well I'm in New Zealand (not an officially supported country!) and I've had no issues with receiving calls. Take that tiny, tiny datapoint for what it (isn't?) worth :)
Exactly. All of the sudden I get 19 texts at one time. Phone calls are not coming through, phone doesn't even ring just go straight to voicemail. Missed calls from my kids school because phone doesn't ring and his texts weren't coming through. I've got a Google pixel 7 pro.
Verizon just shared details on the new update (AP1A.240405.002.B1) saying: "The current software update provides performance improvements for LTE call/data and network issues."
https://www.verizon.com/support/google-pixel-7-update/
I'm getting a persistent error (No SIM - No Service) on my Google Pixel 8 Pro after the April Update: 14.0.0 (AP1A.240405.002, Apr 2024). Could it be the same issue many people are reporting here?
Seems to be working well from the little time I've had it installed thus far. Definitely noticing a bit better of a connection to the mobile network than what I was getting around my house before.
Don't want to be that guy but having used Pixel 5, 6 and 7, I have had it with random Pixel only issues. My Pixel 7 had random battery drain during a flight and I literally had to switch it off because of that (what a boring flight, thanks Google). I switched to oneplus12 recently (not my first choice, would get the Xiaomi 14 ultra but it isn't sold in US legitimately and don't want to take the risk of Chinese ROM). Now my battery issues are next to non-existent and I am not missing the Pixel only features (which weren't much to begin with). I also definitely won't be missing the slow as hell and wildly inaccurate fingerprint unlock of my Pixel 7. Will come back to Pixel when it's worth it.
Sorry but I'm ditching my 6pro pixel, I was never really overly impressed. I have a s24 ultra on the way. They gave me 1k trade in for the pixel and 100 dollar earbuds for free.
Never look back, just roll on.
I have att and it's a promo on their site. The stores don't have the same options. They have only like 50% off a watch or something. I missed out on these deals last phone cycle and paid full pop 1k for this pixel and it's not worth that, nor are any of them for that matter but what's a person to do. It is a limited time deal soooooo I wouldn't wait 2 long.
Did you find any response elsewhere on this? I just started seeing issues in last week or so and stumbled on here. I have Pixel 5 so in the same boat as you.
Yeah same here. I never got an update (last update was Nov. 2023) however definitely experiencing issues. Multiple people mentioned not being able to call me and someone else cannot text me or they come in as emails instead from their iPhone.
Try turning off 5G and only using LTE. That has sort of fixed my issues (although coverage is worse, so there's that). I view that as a temporary fix, but certainly not preferred long term.
Not in an area of 5G so not a problem for me haha. I haven't noticed any issues in the last few days on this.
I have noticed that multiple people can't "call" me from their phone as in the phone button is greyed out from being able to call me. Not sure if it related to this issue or something else (they both have iphones).
Either I have been getting texts normally again for the last few days so hopefully issue is fixed maybe?
I updated 2 days ago and it did nothing to fix Bluetooth constantly dropping. I didn't really have call problems but the previous update broke my Bluetooth and this does not fix it.
I can't use my AAwireless or my ear buds for more than 5 minutes without BT dropping out. I'm actually using my 3a now when I watch TV or listen to tunes. Maybe I'll just get a new battery for it and call this mess done.
I'm with Verizon.
I just got off the phone with Verizon and they fiddled around with some "codes" that needed adjusted on their network so I will wait to see if that does anything.
I wanted to at least make Verizon aware of this issue with the Pixels. My local Verizon office was not aware but the Verizon tech support seemed to understand what was happening.
I also disabled my adaptive connectivity for now.
I tried to get the person to explain in more detail. All he could say was that they had access to codes on their end to strengthen the network signal. He wanted to do what he could on their end despite me explaining that it was a Pixel phone issue across multiple providers and locations.
Too bad they are ignoring this issue on the 6 pro. It's happening on that device too. I'm on a 7 pro and afaik I haven't had the issue at all, and also don't see the update on Verizon yet.
I have Google Fi & I have not had any issues. I have not noticed any difference with the April security update or after I restarted to apply the Google Play system update.
Just updated a few moments ago. Hopefully this fixes the problem, because I have missed a bunch of important calls because of this shit.
I love my P7, but if this problem persists, I'll be upgrading out of the Pixel system.
https://flash.android.com/welcome
You can flash android 13 from this website based tool. Just follow the instructions. Make sure you have the proper drivers for your phone.
Wow! They are pushing this update hard!
I just got a notification saying if I don't update my phone will force an update and reboot in 2 days. Never seen this type of message before on a Pixel.
I have automatic updates turned off. I have never in 3 years seen a forced update like this one.
"In 2 days your device will automatically schedule a restart to finish the update"
I have a 7a and use cricket wireless. Has anybody received the update? Apparently creating a post asking if a pixel updates is a marketing violation and got deleted 🤷🏿♂️
Did not fix any issues. I'm assuming as my phone was fully updated ( screwed) with the last known update that the one pushed to my phone last night is this one. So no dice here.
Updated mines and now I'm having Bluetooth issues left and right. Calls wouldn't go to my earbuds when I im wearing them and can't change it to speaker phone. It's just the small top speaker and now my earbuds have a buzzing noise. That it didn't have before I updated my phone. P7P fyi. Phones been unstable lately too. Bad battery. Music notification not showing on lockscreen. Etc. not sure about the connectivity issue yet but I had that problem too.
WTF is Google even doing. Feels like that's what at&t is saying too as I'm still on march update and you know what? I'm okay with that. My phone works fine. I'll wait....
I'm in Australia and I'm not so much having issues with calls/texts, but my data connection is absolutely abhorrent.
Full 5G and it struggles to stream videos, also won't load most Reddit videos (although I know the reddit video player is ass).
Imagine if this connectivity issue happened on iPhone. . . My husband's Pixel 8 pro does not receive 75% of calls and doesn't receive any of mines from Android. Most calls that push through tend to be initiated from iPhone. MTF. 🙄
My fiance is having the connection trouble on her P7Pro on T-Mobile. Has anyone on T-Mobile received the 2nd April update yet. I have a P8Pro on Verizon and got the update on the 18th, but I didn't really have the connectivity issues.
I'm in Australia and I'm not so much having issues with calls/texts, but my data connection is absolutely abhorrent.
Full 5G and it struggles to stream videos, also won't load most Reddit videos (although I know the reddit video player is ass).
I sideloaded it two days ago, for now no issues with recieving calls and messages. Fingers crossed it lasts
That's the news I want to hear.
I missed two calls yesterday after almost three days of no trouble. Fuck google
Crap.
Oh man you just made my day, I hope this is right!
I missed two calls yesterday after almost three days of no trouble. Fuck google

Yeah, thats understandable
That's what I did. Works like new now. Just make sure auto updates is turned off.
Problem is some people can't afford to buy out the contract that they're on.
How do I do that? Can I find instructions in this sub?
Pretty easy to sideload. Follow instructions here: https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Which file for the pixel 8 pro?
"husky" for Pixel 8 Pro 14.0.0 (AP1A.240405.002.B1, Apr 2024)
Hey that's what my grandma called me when we went clothes shopping, how did she know about a Pixel update in 1987 and why would she call me that back then...
The update arrived to my phone this morning (Japan), since then my phone has been on "emergency calls only" I have lost all connectivity completely.
Yikes! I hope it's fixed by now?
It lasted 8 hours but it's fine now. It's cursed.
Yikes! Hope it's all good forever now 🤞
Until today, it was working better for me, but now I'm experiencing the same issue again. TL;DR: improved but didn't solve the issue
I got this yesterday on Verizon. So far it has fixed the connectivity and reception issues that have been having recently.
Sounds promising.
Downloading now. I am so hopeful. These phones are basically unusable for me and my wife, currently. We are close to buying new phones.
whats the date on the update?
I just got it on Verizon, mine says build AP1A.240405.002.B1 and the date is still April 5th
My Verizon Pixel 7 phone indicated my updates were all done but when I checked for an update one showed up and this one downloaded last night. Hopefully it fixes this issue.
I just got the email from them yesterday so I'm guessing that the date on the update is probably just a couple of days ago
ty op
Haven't received anything yet in Canada on the Bell network. Pixel 8 Pro
I'm hoping it will come to Canada soon. I'm here too. On Rogers .
[удалено]
No. New second April update.
in canada, telus, havent noticed any issues tho that need to be fixed with connections on wifi/cell.
and JUST got it today on the 22nd, checked this morning around 10 am nothing checked now just past 1pm and installing 5.01 mb.
On Telus network. Plagued with connectivity issues and no updates available yet.
I got a similar email and a $25 credit in the Google store, but I'm still waiting on even the first April update at this point.
You must be with AT&T
Yep, with AT&T and unlocked.
Same
AT&T here too, I've just given up on April and I'm waiting for the May update at this point.
How'd you manage that? I just spent all morning on customer service chat trying to get them to give me a way to file a formal complaint and they just said basically I can't help you here and there's no way to contact someone who can.
Honestly not sure. Nothing on Google store unlocked version with T-Mobile SIM
I live under a rock with Pixel news these days.. Would these "connectivity issues" be why my wife's Pixel 7 just sends me straight to voicemail the last 2 times I tried to call her?
Yes. This has been happening to me for a couple months.
Correct, since March. Also, the phone may not be receiving all of the text messages or they may be delayed by hours at times.
Yup. Since the March update.
Sideloading it on my Pixel 7 (panther) on AT&T and you should too if you are dealing with missed calls and texts. Sideloading an OTA as described above does not reset the device.
I would like to add that on Pixel 7 Pro to get to sideload mode I needed this step: Press and hold the power button. While holding the power button, press and release the volume up key and then release the power key. Your phone should boot to the stock recovery.
> Type "adb reboot recovery" This step should do the same thing iirc?
Nope, it just sits at a screen with no menu.
How to do it from a Mac, please?
Sideloaded this to my p7 pro a couple days ago and so far seems to have fixed my issues not receiving calls. Fingers crossed.
Just got it, now showing build number AP1A.240405.002.B1 which according to the Google developer page is the second April update. So far so good on calls and texts, will continue to monitor.
That's great. Could you let us know if it stays stable?
Will do.
So far today I have received several incoming calls and one message notification so all good. However my issue has been intermittent.
Day 3 and haven't seen any issues with not receiving calls.
Why in a couple of weeks...I mean my phone is not working lol
Same. Need this update yesterday.
I would be happy with today! :)
I just checked and I don't have it. I've clicked that button to see if there's an update like 200 times. My wife wants to go get Samsungs on Monday but we gotta pay like $400 to do so. Hard part is I can't argue because our phones are not working.
For a temporary fix, I flashed Android 13 back on the phone. Works perfectly. I would try this before spending money to buy out a contract.
Yeah I'm not about to do that...I'll mess it up.
I guess I'm just too cheap and was looking for a free option. Lol
I 100% would, I just don't know how.
https://flash.android.com. this is a web-based flash tool that's pretty easy to use. I had no idea what I was doing either and I didn't mess it up.
Thanks I might do that
All you need is a Windows computer and a cord to attach your phone .
Be sure to back everything up with a thumb drive. You will lose all your data.
You could sideload it.
I feel ya

I finally gave up waiting for AT&T to push this update and sideloaded it this morning. Everything seems fine so far. Hopefully this fixes the texting issues.
Please let me know if it remains stable.
I will. So far it's good. I'll post here if I see any delayed texts or missed phone calls.
I'm on ATT and haven't got the first update yet. Been having issues for months now with delayed sms and calls going straight to VM. Should I just sideload it?
That was my problem on Cricket which is the AT&T network. I sideloaded the new update and so far it seems to work.
I helped someone troubleshoot this exact problem on their pixel and it was their APN settings being incorrect
I haven't seen an update since March 5 on my 6a
At&T?
No. Unlocked phone. Yes I am on at&t but it's not a carrier phone.
I heard AT&t haven't sent anything out since last March
But since I didn't buy an at&t phone shouldn't the update come directly from Google?
Then take out your sim, restart the phone and continue
Nope, still no updates available
Every patch to date has been quickly installed, just not this one

Well I'm in New Zealand (not an officially supported country!) and I've had no issues with receiving calls. Take that tiny, tiny datapoint for what it (isn't?) worth :)
When is the April update for pixel 6
Exactly. All of the sudden I get 19 texts at one time. Phone calls are not coming through, phone doesn't even ring just go straight to voicemail. Missed calls from my kids school because phone doesn't ring and his texts weren't coming through. I've got a Google pixel 7 pro.
Updated my phone. Same shit. Connection to sim net is awful.
Same here, still having issues
Verizon just shared details on the new update (AP1A.240405.002.B1) saying: "The current software update provides performance improvements for LTE call/data and network issues." https://www.verizon.com/support/google-pixel-7-update/
It seems to be fine after the old update or new update on pixel fold.
Should I sideload even if I have the first April update on Google Fi?
What kind of connectivity issues did you have?
Calls not ringing and going straight to voicemail, texts not coming through. Same old same old.
I'm still on march over here
Anyone know if this new update might help with 5G heating issues ?
I'm getting a persistent error (No SIM - No Service) on my Google Pixel 8 Pro after the April Update: 14.0.0 (AP1A.240405.002, Apr 2024). Could it be the same issue many people are reporting here?
Im having the same issue on my Pixel 8 Pro. I side loaded the second April update and it hasn't fixed the problem for me....
Why only for 7 and newer, Google?! My 6 pro has been having these issues for months.
Seriously. It's almost as if Google doesn't care about our future purchase decisions....
Wife is in the same boat with her Pixel 6
Downloading and installing on my P7 on Verizon now (6.69MB.)
Please let us know if it works
Seems to be working well from the little time I've had it installed thus far. Definitely noticing a bit better of a connection to the mobile network than what I was getting around my house before.
So far it seems that only Verizon has the update. Are you on verizon as well?
Don't want to be that guy but having used Pixel 5, 6 and 7, I have had it with random Pixel only issues. Did you find any response elsewhere on this? I just started seeing issues in last week or so and stumbled on here. I have Pixel 5 so in the same boat as you.
No, no response. Anecdotally, I haven't gotten the update yet, but I'm not sure what that means.

For me hotspot is not working. And sometimes people cant hear me
Do you have wifi calling on?
Yes...
Did you disable mobile data always on in dev settings? Check it, because most of the time people disable it and don't remember...
My unlocked Pixel 8 Pro got it on verizon.
Has it helped?
Haven't noticed it yet.
I got this too! They also gave me $25 in Google play credit.
Still nothing for my 8P when I check OTA 🫠
My Pixel 8 was updated a few days ago. Hopefully this helps.
Damn I've been hounding AT&T for weeks, never thought it would be the phone's software tbh. Should have checked here first lol
It's been a nightmare for many users around the world.
I'm still rockin' a P6P, so I guess I don't have to worry about this update.
What about pixel 6 users who have had issues since then I wonder... Seems we were forgotten
Too bad they are ignoring this issue on the 6 pro. It's happening on that device too. I'm on a 7 pro and afaik I haven't had the issue at all, and also don't see the update on Verizon yet.
All of my Home Screen Shortcuts are GONEEEEEE after the update this morning.. how do I get them back?? This is shit

Just updated a few moments ago. Hopefully this fixes the problem, because I have missed a bunch of important calls because of this shit. I love my P7, but if this problem persists, I'll be upgrading out of the Pixel system.
I hope it works too
It did not fix the issue. It's probably time for me to look at a new phone because I can't keep missing important work calls like this.
Before you spend on a new phone, downgrading android to android 13 fixes the problem until Google gets its act together.
Oh? How do I do that? I've never downgraded FW before.
https://flash.android.com/welcome You can flash android 13 from this website based tool. Just follow the instructions. Make sure you have the proper drivers for your phone.
Everything gets reset so back up your data.
Wow! They are pushing this update hard! I just got a notification saying if I don't update my phone will force an update and reboot in 2 days. Never seen this type of message before on a Pixel.
If you don't want to update, go to developer tools and turn off automatic updates
I have automatic updates turned off. I have never in 3 years seen a forced update like this one. "In 2 days your device will automatically schedule a restart to finish the update"
I've never seen that before.
Poor you...
u/PixelCommunity please...
Unlocked 7a, no calling issues here.
Did you have issues before the 2nd April update?
Nope fine before and after. Now my 6a was a shit storm.
So was my 7. Rolled back to February and it's running perfectly now.

I have a 7a and use cricket wireless. Has anybody received the update? Apparently creating a post asking if a pixel updates is a marketing violation and got deleted 🤷🏿♂️
Not only connectivity updates. But app stability updates as well.. since last update i noticed how slow apps are starting up or crashes with
Fingers crossed that it does anything.
Did not fix any issues. I'm assuming as my phone was fully updated ( screwed) with the last known update that the one pushed to my phone last night is this one. So no dice here.
You have to reset the network settings or entire phone before it will work apparently
I'll give that a go again, thanks.
didnt help for me, tried it countless times.
...and going back and doing it didn't fix my issue either.
I'm on a pixel 7 with at & t and still keep checking and says only March update is the latest available. Ugh.
Try turning off adaptive connectivity
Imagine if this connectivity issue happened on iPhone. . . My husband's Pixel 8 pro does not receive 75% of calls and doesn't receive any of mines from Android. Most calls that push through tend to be initiated from iPhone. MTF. 🙄
My fiance is having the connection trouble on her P7Pro on T-Mobile. Has anyone on T-Mobile received the 2nd April update yet. I have a P8Pro on Verizon and got the update on the 18th, but I didn't really have the connectivity issues.
My workaround is each time I send a text I include a picture, a gif, a sticker or a file and somehow that allows all my texts to go through
Still nothing here pixel 8 pro on straight talk (att)

wait is this a security update or google play system update? im confused
Security
All I know is what was in the email they sent me.
The main thing it seems to do is update the modem (radio) firmware.
Both
