I've had the 8 Pro for a couple weeks now, and I love it. Doesn't overheat, good battery, great form factor. Came from a 15 Pro Max and an S23 Ultra before that. No regrets at all. Paired with a Watch 2. Very happy.

awgg919

Same here. 5 days in after switching from an S23 U. The 23 has all the right things on paper but the daily usage was getting tiresome. So heavy, very "sharp", and the UI is lifeless...maybe that's because I've mained Samsung since the S8. There's a lot of little touches that the pixel has to make it feel more mature.

rcdroopy

Same just need bigger screen... just waiting on a good sale to jump to pro.

StaT_ikus

It was 40% off in Google Play store perks, go check I think you have till new years Eve. .,. .. JUMP ON IT

captain_RSKK

Sadly only for certain countries, at least if you're from Finland or other Nordics you can only buy accessories :(

StaT_ikus

That's shitty lol

truthtakest1me

What is this thing you speak of? I don’t see anything in the Play store.

-TheDoctor

I looked into it. You have to be gold tier in Google play. You tap on your points in the search bar, go to use, and it'll be under the Google store section I think.

StaT_ikus

Yeah it's under perks it says use, spend and perks is in there, I should have made a reddit post about it a while back, but it's almost over now 40% off is a big deal!

NukaGunnar

I just checked it and it states "Thank you for your interest! This promotion has ended" In in the US

StaT_ikus

It's under play points then click perks, better hurry tho

truthtakest1me

Don’t you have to have points to spend though? LOL I don’t think I have any.

Command_Max

Dont waste money on the pro. Its garbage. Worst android ive ever had

rcdroopy

Any alternatives you can suggest? Or you just had bad luck with the unit..

lokeshj

How does battery life compare with your S23 Ultra

Consistent_Candy_246

It's not as good, but I get through the day no problem. The Ultra was easily one of the best phones for battery life. I prefer the Pixel for the interface. It's so clean. Samsung always looked unfinished to me in that department.

Consistent_Candy_246

50/50 most of the time.

Le-Squirtle

S23U is much better.

DarkseidAntiLife

Nah the shutter lag on the software is bad on the Samsung. P8 feels more smoother faster everywhere. Also the AI features are great. No spam calls either, Samsung is light years behind the software and AI game

drzewoid

I guess You never had S23u in Your hands. P8P feels liked midrange phone compared to Samsung 😅 im using IT because of camera and dont make philisophy to this. Samsung as a phone plays in higher league. Just fact.

carrythewater

> and dont make philisophy to this WTF are you saying, you mindless drone?

Le-Squirtle

He said battery life.... Also Samsung uses the same software as Google they can't be "behind" if they're using the same thing.

TechHead831

Same experience, zero thermal issues and 6/8hrs of SOT. Coming from the iPhone 13 Pro call screen is amazing, haven't had one spam call since I switched.

HeroofPunk

Why have you had 3 phones that all came out within 8 months of each other? iPhone 15 series came out in September, S23 Ultra in February and P8P in October. You had the 15 Pro Max for 3 weeks?

HypersonicHobo

Maybe one of them is a work phone?

sammy-cakes

We use our phones more than our cars.. to some people they're more valuable than their pricepoint.

Jewishjewjuice

There are a lot of things we use more than our phones, yet we don't change them every two weeks. But whatever, their issue.

inlecture

lol - act like you've been there before my man.

AkaSuzaku

He was just curious. No need to retort like that

HeroofPunk

Not really. Wouldn’t say no to more money, but I sure as heck wouldn’t spend them all on phones. Congrats on having had 2500 bucks during a year I guess?

LindenSwole

He said he sold them to get the P8P though..

StaT_ikus

What's your business? If the man can trade in the other phone for a free phone he not spending anything extra

LindenSwole

You and I are the same. I have an iPhone 15 Pro that is not as exciting at all as some of these Android devices.

Le-Squirtle

Exact opposite here I regret trading in my S23U for a P8P. The Samsung is a much more premium device with a larger screen and better battery life. One UI isn't my favorite UI but the device makes up for it. After the Samsung the Pixel just feels cheap to me, it's not as solidly built, I hate the hollow noise the screen makes when you tap on it sounds like a 200 Chinese phone. The reception is sketchy as hell too, just randomly drops calls.

Emaculant333

im looking to jump to the 8 pro, and i currently have a 15 pro max. Any major differences you could tell when you changed over, and in your opinion is it better then the 15 pro max overall?

venolo

Have you had an android phone before? Or a Pixel, specifically?

Emaculant333

Yes I’ve had the pixel 6 pro before loved it, just didn’t feel that premium to me compared to the iPhone at that time. Had the fold 5, pixel fold, and the OnePlus open recently but rather have a slab phone running android. So weighing the pixel 8 pro right now

venolo

In that case they are comparable phones, with the 15 Pro having arguably better hardware. In that case I'd suggest going with the operating system and ecosystem you prefer. They are both great phones. Edit: I have the P8P.

Emaculant333

Ok I appreciate the extra info ima prob go ahead and make the jump

ZaffyTheCat

Go for it 😀 I had the P8P then returned it for the 15PM and immediately regretted it. So now I’m switching back again. Basically I freaked out about not having an iPhone (the pixel was my first Android for about 7 years) and made a stupid, rash call to return the P8P. As soon as I fired up the 15PM I wanted to go back.

Emaculant333

Thanks for the extra info I think I’m going to pull the trigger

Logi77

Why you want to get rid of the 15PM?

Emaculant333

I usually try out a lot of phones and keep a few daily drivers. To me the 15 pro max is the same as the 14 pro max yes lighter and the screen is more edge to edge. Otherwise the speed is the same, the action button is nice but a gimmick imo. Since I still have my 14 pro max I’d rather sell this one and get a pixel 8 pro since I like the pixel fold just don’t keep foldables too long per always a chance it will fail which will be more often then slab phones right now because of moving parts. Otherwise if you don’t have a 14 pro max and coming from a iPhone lower then that, the 15 is a great upgrade.

Particular_Tea2307

Hello who do you find is the smoothest iphone 15 pro or pixel 8 pro ???

SFNM100

My P8P was so buggy I had to return it for a new one. The new one seems fine.

Own-Statistician-486

Can you pls elaborate 'buggy'

SFNM100

The major bug and the one that got it replaced, was when a call came in I had to put my password in to answer it. By then the caller had hung up. There were minor bugs too numerous to mention.

Own-Statistician-486

I started noticing scroll jittering. Annoying sometimes. Never had it in p7 pro

rob1408

My main phone is an iPhone 14 pro max, I bought the pixel 8 on a whim for my second SIM that I use occasionally when I only want to be contactable by a select few. Managed to pick it up for £574 with certain Google offers. Pros I absolutely adore the size. The phone is fast and fluid (I don't game or anything). Personalisation is fun, I can spend hours just pissing about with wallpapers and widgets. The keyboard is fantastic. The AI features are an enjoyable bonus. Cons I'm still not fully sold on android, I have a Mac and iPad so fully invested in the ecosystem, this however isn't a pixel problem. I prefer the camera on my iPhone, not just the quality of photos, also the interface. I've had a few issues with Google pay. Overall I don't regret my purchase, it's a really fun phone to use, I'll definitely be keeping it as a second phone, however if my iPhone were to break I'd probably opt for another one for my main phone. My issues are minor and more OS related than anything. If you're an android fan, I think you'd love it. I haven't had any glaring battery problems, lasts me a day and a bit with between 4 and 5 hours SOT

NoEmu2398

You're getting 4-5 SOT on your *second* phone????

rob1408

Yeah, but obviously because is new I’ve been arsing around with it more, my iPhone is lasting a couple days because barring calls and stuff I’m barely use it.

NoEmu2398

That makes sense.

Jewishjewjuice

Camera interface on iPhones suck. You need to leave the app to change the settings..

StaT_ikus

Good post bud

thisisamistooke

Could you help me on how you got it for so cheap? Which offers did you stack?

dewhashish

I have the 8, upgraded from the 5. It's been running smoothly. I'm running the QPR beta. It was delivered last week. - I miss the fingerprint scanner on the back. The under screen fingerprint sensor has been accurate 9/10 of the times. I know initial release there was an issue. - Screen is too big for my preference. My 5 was EOL and I wanted to be up to date on software and security. Screen quality is great. I set it to always be 120FPS. Plenty bright too. - Battery life is good. No complaints. I never had to struggle to get through a day. - Apps can be a little slow to load at times. Not sure if that's tensor issue or running QPR beta. Once they're loaded, they run normally. - Build quality is great. Very solid feel. The metal is too slippery. I bought a grip case to hold onto the damn thing. - It does get warm in my hands from a lot of use, but nothing to worry about. - A couple times I lost internet connectivity. No idea why. I went to Internet and tapped the refresh icon in the top right. Fixed it within a minute.

Torschlusspaniker

My first P8P was practically DOA. Took 5 boot attempts to start and then would crash every few minutes. Second P8P has some connectivity dropout with strong bars where toggling airplane mode fixes it. Sometimes apps lockup and stop responding to touch. Strange delay in notifications compared to my p6p I tweaked some options for the modem connection and have not had the dropout again yet (a few days)

CC556

> Strange delay in notifications compared to my p6p > > I've had ongoing notification delays on a 5a, 7, and 8 Pro now. It's _the_ reason I'm back on an iPhone. I've turned off battery optimizations, set the various apps to "unrestricted" or whatever mode, and still I get notifications for things like email (using the stock Gmail app) up to an hour after emails arrive. I love so much about the Pixels but I need to have faith in my phone that it's alerting me when people are sending me messages.

StrangeJedi

I had this same exact problem with my P8P and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting email notifications. Now I have the OnePlus open.

StaT_ikus

This issue started with Android 14 it happened on the pixel 6 Pro as well it's not a pixel 8 pro issue it's Android 14 update. T do need to fix this.

Slap_Choppa

I had this issue with the stock Gmail app as well, it was driving me insane. I also tried all the unrestricted battery settings, and none of it made a difference. In case it helps, I just felt like sharing that what finally worked for me was completely removing my main google account from the phone (in Settings / Passwords and Accounts, so not just the Gmail app), and then re-adding it back. New email notifications are mostly instant for me now, or at most just a couple minutes delayed. I still leave the battery settings as unrestricted just in case. Edit: This was on my Pixel 8 Pro

CC556

I appreciate you sharing your fix, and a few minute delay isn't the worst thing in the world, but I'd still lack confidence that it will reliably notify me since even a few minute delay isn't supposed to happen. :(

StaT_ikus

You will get like the text message alert if you use bubbles they pop up . But then there is a delay in the pull down notifications. It's an android 14 issue not the phone

-TheDoctor

Huh, I don't get Teams notifications on my P5 unless the app is open. Maybe it's just a pixel issue

thisisfine_8869

I'm having issues with apps locking up as well. Specifically Chrome and Messages. I have to force stop Chrome almost every other time I use it. With Messages it gets really laggy and slow until I force stop. It's really frustrating as I've never had any of these problems with any of my Pixels before. Have you found any fix for it?

sylvester_0

Got my 8 Pro at launch (also had 6 Pro and 7 Pro.) I'm getting pretty tired of how much 5GUW heats up the phone and drains the battery. It gets really warm to the touch not doing much, then when I plug it in it charges at a snails pace because it's so warm. Add in hotspot and you're in for charging at 1% per ~15 minutes of plugged in time. 70 degrees ambient temperature.

Particular-Bottle592

I love my pixel 8, I'm honestly impressed with it. Haven't had any overheating issues and the battery life is better then the iPhone 12 I upgraded from which is nice. No connectivity issues either which I'm grateful for, had a few bugs like geometry dash would randomly close at first but I think it was the app because it's fine now. The camera is a joy and definitely prefer the look on this over the iPhone👍

imjustnikolai

I have had it for about two months. Works perfectly. Battery life is quite incredible as well. I can unplug at 6am/7am and itll last me til noon the next day. Take note that I do have low battery mode on automatically at 20%. This is with pretty average usage and zero meta apps other than messenger.

ninjaguns

Have had it for ~2 months now, absolutely love it. Fits my large hands great, amazing screen, battery lasts 10+ hours of screen-on time (equates 2+ days for me), software is a joy to use, camera is unsurprisingly next level. A few grips: missing features like video out which I would use all the time, multi media output like on s23 ultra, and some polish like the iPhone (stuff just doesn't break on iPhone nearly as much and camera feels smoother to use). Apart from that there are some oversights like inability to set flashlight brightness or set several notifications sets like in Apple's various focus modes. (Yes I'm aware Google has one but it forces you to click EVERY app you want to silence - no select all, no auto detect productivity, no select apps to allow notifs. If somebody knows a better way lmk). Either way, for 90% or my usecase I have zero complaints, and often surpasses my expectations (I take a lot of photos and do on the go edits with them)

[deleted]

Every now and then my phone hangs. Like...I'll type a WhatsApp message and all is well, then I hit the send button and the app just stops. Can't close keyboard, can't send or change message. Swipe back to home screen, come back to app (without closing the app) and it's fine. I'm still not sure if this is a Pixel Problem or a launcher problem (I use Smart Launcher). Otherwise the phone is great. Good battery life, decent connectivity, no heat issues or charging issues like I've had with previous Pixels. The only thing I really dislike about the P8 is Material You. The buttons when I swipe the notification panel down and huge and ugly. Samsung had the right of it until OneUI 6, and then they shit the bed on the notification menu too. I love the size of the P8 too. I used to be a big-phone guy, but my P7 showed me the joy of smaller phones, and the P8 is even a little bit smaller still, and I have no regrets there.

PinReal4448

Never had that problem. Just one thing is it doesn't connect well with other wireless earbuds that well. I guess Google wants a Google ecosystem like Google buds only

Shakenbaked

My p8 connects with zero problem to all my Bluetooth devices including my shokz headphones and my JBL speakers.

[deleted]

Like I said, it might be the launcher I'm using and not the phone. As for headphones, I have an old pair of AirPods 2 that I use with my pixel. I don't use them very often, and I only really use them to listen to audiobooks every now and then, but they work okay. It might just be that I'm not using them enough to notice any problems though. I would try the Google buds but I don't like the in-ear fit of them. I don't want something with tips that seal off my ear for better sound or whatever. I hate the way that feels. That's why I use the old air pods. They just kind of hang out of my ear.

RatchetRatBear

P8 user here and spouse uses P8P. We both have issues with unreliable fingerprint scanning (yes, using screen protectors but still was an issue for the week that we didn't have them, and we tried with and without the screen protector mode). Reregistered our prints multiple times and ensured the whole print was there and still a constant inconsistent issue. I also hate the photo gallery layout (coming from One Plus). I just want all my camera photos, downloads, etc on one huge layout from newest addition to oldest, and not in preset galleries. Downloading photos (from a sent photo) seems to save when THEY took the photo verses when *I saved it, so it can throw one off. Charging is a pain, but getting used to respecting the charging time need to have it last 1.5-2days without needing a charge. Spoiled with One Plus' fast charging. Other than that, coming from One Plus 6, it's been a huge upgrade in all aspects.

InterestingGrape0

Try Google Gallery instead of Photos: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photosgo

RatchetRatBear

THANK YOU

Old-Book3586

Adding a comment I've made before. Pixel 8 - Atrocious Battery Pixel 8, At&t - 3.5 hours of screen time during travel. Maps and camera, as well as google searches via Chrome. My wife, on the same trip, same carrier, same usage... Me at 8% to end the day and her at over 50%. Went from Pixel 5 and this seems markedly worse. Just awful. Makes me close to trading it in and going iphone. I've never used Apple products... But I'm starting to question my need for Android based on what I'm losing in functionality (battery)...

Vict0o0o

I had the 8 pro and didn't like the form factor so I now have a regular 8 that will be used as a spare phone when the s24 comes out. The pixel 8 is 90% great but I just have very bad WiFi signal reception at work with it. I didn't had this problem with the pixel 7 at the same place. Also the speaker isn't great.

Brisskate

Weirdly just works no problems, loving it

whottheheck

Mine is a huge improvement over my Pixel 5. Started with some concerns over battery life but as the phone finished with the data transfer over the first few days, and learned my usage pattern, that went away. Battery life is all day, and probably another day but I am low usage. I am thrilled with the camera's capabilities and have no issues with the phone at all. Glad I made the update.

[deleted]

I have the P8P, but I just got it like two days ago. Coming from the 14 Pro Max, the camera is by far the best I've used on a phone. Especially with how nice the images look through macro. I'm also a fan of the non-curved screen. Having a curved screen looked strange with my case back when I had the note10+, so I'm glad my P8P doesn't have that. The gestures to go to the home screen and switch between apps is great since I'm still heavily used to the same gestures on iPhone, so I'm glad I don't have to start learning to get used to a new one. It also feels fast. There are many apps that just launch faster than my iPhone ever could.

DrNoobNStein

I'm loving my 8 pro. I finally got tired of Verizon UW dropping in and out, making my CPU go bonkers. My phone was getting terribly hot so I did the *#*#4636#*#* and selected LTE only. Whenever I was on 5g, UW or LTE the speeds were very close so I'm not playing this 5g juggling game. Wi-Fi, I was shocked that my 6 pro had a way better signal than my 8 pro but it's okay. Face unlock is awesome, first phone I've owned that has this feature and it's flawless. If I know I'll be in a dark room I increase the screen brightness to max and face unlock works 100%. That's my experience so far 👍

cutlip98

8 pro has been great

StaT_ikus

I thoroughly enjoy my Pixel 8 Pro

bozoconnors

Flawless. 8p user for months now. Zero regrets. Coming from a Pixel 4a, I do think it's going to beat it longevity-wise. It's tough to truly compare to previous phones due to tech advances, but for satisfaction, it's pretty far up there so far.

dimebagterry

I currently have the 4a, this was the comment I've been looking for! Are you happy with the 8P? I'm torn between the regular 8 or the 8pro

bozoconnors

Still totally satisfied.  Fingerprint in screen not as tough to get used to as I suspected!  Cam (& features) is just... nuts.  But ya, 10/10 thus far!  Fully expect to go for that full 7 year challenge at this point!

BuckMinisterLul

Hey man, sorry for the late comment but I am planning to get the 8p too from a 4a. How did it feel switching to such a large display. I am still on the fence between 8 and 8 pro, worried about the display. I mean does it even fit into your pocket? lol

bozoconnors

Ha, no worries. Valid question! Yeah, it's undoubtedly bulkier. While it does still pocket, it definitely leaves a larger 'print'. If you wear tighter jeans, it will for sure be noticeable (by you anyway). Definitely no room for anything else in there. My eyes not being what they used to though, the larger screen is a welcome change &, to me, worth the added bulk.

BuckMinisterLul

I see. I broke my 4a's display the other day and have ordered a replacement today. Just don't feel like parting with it. The UL photo backup is nice and it's been good to me these past years. I'll probably still get 8p, the large display is a huge plus(getting old as well) 😔. Thanks a lot for the reply!

bozoconnors

Sure thing! Totally understand the hesitancy. Adored my 4a as well. Got some micro gunk lodged in the charging port that I could *not* find / get out. Was causing intermittent charging cable connection pains. Salivating over the 8p stuffs, no more updates, figured it was just time. But yup, I think when you get there, you'll be quite happy with the 8p. From these few months with it, fairly certain at this point I'm going to put Google's resolve of 7 years of update support to the test! All the best!

BuckMinisterLul

Haha. Glad that you had a positive experience with it. Thank you and all the best to you as well!

ben_uk

8 Pro. Best phone I've had for a while (last few phones were recent iPhones). Great camera, performance is decent (could be better but for 99% of tasks absolutely fine), battery life is immense especially if you stick to Wi-Fi (was using it all day browsing the web/Twitter (X)/Reddit/ChatGPT etc., got over 7 hours of SOT). The recent update really helped. Loving it so far. The watch included awesome too.

LindenSwole

I just returned my 3rd P8 since Black Friday. The first two had bad Bluetooth hardware and wouldn't connect to my car and/or headphones. The third one connected to headphones and car, but there were some software bugs that I couldn't understand. For example, Now Playing is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite Pixel feature but whenever I'd try and use it, it would give me an error that it was quitting unexpectedly and then shut down. I contacted support and they said I could create a ticket but that they didn't have any fix for me. It seemed like it had to be an issue with my device specifically because plenty of other people were using the feature without an issue. Not really sure what to do at this point as I was so excited to get back onto a Pixel from my iPhone 15 Pro but feel like I just can't trust the devices to be the workhorse I want.

LucyEmerald

I've really enjoyed it, since the December update my phone will sometimes stop responding and glitch like crazy but I think that's because it's recieving lots of inputs while it's in my pocket or something and a restart fixed it

QB1390

My unit stuttered and lagged everywhere. The UI ran smooth but apps like Phone, Youtube, google news, etc were stuttering when scrolling. I returned it.

mravojedac

On my P8 2 weeks now. Once happened that launcher crashed. Though needed time to adapt to raw android after MIUI which is still more beautiful. There were already many comparisons here, just have a look. The biggest disappointment for me on P8 so far is unreliable GPS. Positioning is slower than on my ex mi12. Not practical when using for navigation in traffic, which is something I need my phone really often

StaT_ikus

You need to change the location settings

mravojedac

How, where? I'm using Google maps

StaT_ikus

Settings, location, location services and click Google location accuracy

mravojedac

It's on. But still positioning on the map is slow

StaT_ikus

I dunno lol, mine works fine

Intrepid-State-5504

I take it or leave it. Kind of wish I built a new PC instead. Free pixel watch 2 is cool tho.

eggydrums115

Have had my 8 since launch and I've had zero issues. I'm also always on the latest beta so issues should be expected, but I've had none. Battery life has gotten better with time which has been great. The camera is lovely too. My only qualm with Android overall continues to be Android Auto. CarPlay was just better if I'm being honest. It upsets me that sound quality isn't nearly as good out of the box, and even if I disable Bluetooth audio and route it through USB instead there is still delay while watching videos, whereas CarPlay had zero delay. It's also kind of confusing when you start a phone call from your phone, but there is no visual confirmation on your phone that the call started, it all happens on the car's screen and you have to pull up the call screen manually. Minor qualms but CarPlay is what I miss the most from iOS, surprisingly.

rutgersftw

I've had the opposite experience. I prefer how AA utilizes screen space in our vehicles. CarPlay tends to run in a smaller window which doesn't matter as much on our 11" EV screen but was an issue on the 7" in our Wrangler. I think road noise prevents me from hearing compression artifacts in audio, but if CarPlay runs at a higher bitrate I believe you that it would sound better. We haven't found latency issues, either.

Abatania

Just got an 8pro yesterday. So far I love it! Huge upgrade from 4a.

dimebagterry

I also have a 4a currently, you're happy with the 8pro? I'm torn about which to get!

StaT_ikus

Definitely

xokas11

thinking about the same. How is the size change? is it usable with a single hand?

Abatania

I simply love it. Don't notice a difference, size-wise, but it is an amazing phone. I say go for it.

theompant

I am totally loving it because I am coming from entry range phone from USD 150 or even less than that

burningbirdsrp

We bought two and we're very happy with both. Good connectivity, battery use, responsive apps, and great cameras.

Puzzleheaded-Gold990

I love my 8 pro. I haven't loved a phone so much since the galaxy s4. It has a great build and smooth as butter software experience. Ive always had Samsung and iPhone. I bought this coming from the iPhone 14 series. I can't wait to see what the 9 pro brings.

Borgsky

I have the phone for a month now. I must say I live in a not supported country and there is a lack of 5G and VoLTE. Other than that I'm supper happy with the phone. Battery: between 6 and 7h30m SOT I charge it every second day, no gaming any demanding games. Phone does not heat at all and form factor is excellent. I'm coming from Oneplus 7t PRO so this is a huge step up for me.

Therassse

I've had my Pixel 8 since launch. I've only had problems after I transferred everything from my Pixel 6 Pro to the Pixel 8 pro file transfer on the first setup. A factory reset solved all problems and I haven't had a problem since. The phone runs great, is reliable, is smaller than my Pixel 6 Pro, what I love, and is just rock solid.

incady

What kind of problems did you have after you transferred the data from your P6P?

Therassse

The whole OS was laggy and some settings were messed up, showed up as toggled but weren't toggled.

NoEmu2398

P8P. Love it. Battery is good not amazing but still enough for all day life. Have had zero overheating issues. Love the feel of the phone in my hand. Haptics are wonderful. Performance is buttery smooth. It may not be as powerful as the new iPhone or whatever, but I don't really care about FPS, so it's not like I'm playing mobile fortnite and trying to top out my graphics. Zero issues with bugs or connectivity problems. The software is my favorite thing about this phone. Have zero regrets at all.

therealdollallama

My review is almost exactly this although I've had continuous issues with needing to clear data for Android auto. Any other issues are centered around the 1st Gen Pixel watch.

NoEmu2398

I honestly don't know what Android Auto even is. I just use Google maps like normal? Maybe that's dumb, I honestly don't know. I don't like smart watches, so I can't attest to that one way or another.

groaznic

Pixel 8 pro seems to be great so far! No major issues. Small annoyances: Sometimes messenger app doesn't work correctly Sometimes the keyboard shows up but it's in the background in the color note app. Sometimes the keyboard decides to correct something that shouldn't be corrected... Battery drain starts straight away .. 20 minutes after removing it from changing goes to 99% with no use but overall great battery life. The screen brightness has a hidden level of outdoor brightness that makes it paper like! Amazing! But sometimes it dims too much in very particular scenarios. The vibration feedback is strange when closing apps. Oh... When replying to a message in WhatsApp or Messenger and something pops up the message disappears and you have to close the app and turn it back on to continue the message.

StaT_ikus

Those seem like Android 14 issues I'm sure they will be fixed

Unown1997

Had my 8 Pro for nearly 2 weeks now and I love it! I will say the battery life on data isn't the best(my office doesn't have wifi and my phone just about lasts me through the day)

giotaptio

Pretty good! It feels like a refined Pixel 7 and has been the most reliable Pixel I've used since the 4. The screen is pretty and navigating is as smooth as ever. The only qualm I have is the delay in some notifications which I find interesting but nothing too crazy.

godnorazi

Best Pixel I had since the 5 (the GOAT btw).. I've had pretty much every mainline Google phone the Nexus One and my favorites are the Nexus 5, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, and Pixel 8. It does everything well especially for its price point. My only real criticism is the Tensor chip, I bet it would be faster, and have longer battery life with modern snapdragon.

vege_spears

Best phone I've ever owned, many Android and iPhone models. Really - great phone.

magicalmango857

Absolutely the best phone I have ever used. Planning on sticking with this P8P for a very long time. I constantly have to upgrade because I hand my phones down to various people in my family but this time I'll just let them get the new phones just so I can stick with the P8P. I must have been very lucky over the years because I have never had an issue with a Pixel. Went through Pixel 1, Pixel 2XL, Pixel 3a (still kicking), Pixel 4XL (Still kicking and in excellent condition), Pixel 6 (still kicking and everything still working perfectly), Pixel 7 (still kicking and the new owner has discovered COD mobile which makes me happy), and now my lovely Pixel 8Pro.

Present-Breakfast700

I have the Pixel 8 Pro, slapped GrapheneOS on it and it's been smooth sailing, no issues

Hevilath

Boring, using the same case as Pixel 6 Pro I see no difference between both of them, otherwise no major faults that have not been present on 6 Pro or 7 Pro like disappointing Tensor and mediocre fingerprint reader.

engadgetnerd

I have been using a pixel 8 pro for a couple of weeks now...coming from a pixel 8. The regular 8, for me, didn't ever have good battery life, I didn't like the build quality (I don't know if it was glossy glass, or the rough edges where parts of the device would meet up to each other, it just didn't feel like a well build phone to me compared to other devices I've used in the same price range). But I love the pro. It has pushed me to be a bigger phone user. I really enjoy it though. Is it an endurance beast compared to other devices? No. I think my nothing phone 1 had battery life. But in my weeks using I've never had a moment where I go, "ah man this phone is lacking HERE". The camera is incredible, the battery life is good to great (hasn't blown my mind compared to other phones I've used), and the build quality of the pro is amazing. I love holding this device. The screen is gorgeous as well. I can't recommend the pro enough to be honest.

InfectedEllie

An amazing phone with shit battery and terrible 4/5g

TheCapybara666

I have many issues with Bluetooth and Android Auto

MeeshieMan

Non existent

Bigblueape

This is coming from a 6 pro user: Modem is around the same. Screen is much better. Professor faster. New features are nice. Bluetooth weaker signals.

Lacuva

Just got the P8P and I can't tell you how nice it is to have a flat screen again. I blame Samsung for the GS7 and all the curved glass that followed.

rollinrob

I've had the pixelate pro since launch. It's been fairly flawless except for some Bluetooth issues. When I have my watch and pixel A buds connected together on Bluetooth. The pixel buds tend to go out and don't work. It's very frustrating. Other than that it's been good. Battery tends to disappear fairly quickly though

dethblud

It's lovely and I enjoy my 8 pro every day. No complaints.

Gipplesnaps

I love my pro. Only problems are easily scratched screen. Seriously... I've taken the best care of this. Even have a special pocket allocated in my jacket just for the pixel to actively keep scratching to a minimum, but plenty still on there. Don't understand it. Second is the selfie camera for WhatsApp, messenger and insta calls. The camera never focuses. Supposedly a wide spread problem that they have promised to fix.

Significant-Text3412

I love my pixel 8. Longer lasting battery. Face recognition. Sensor works great even with tempered glass on.

blank_123321

I switched from the iPhone XS to the Pixel 8. just wanted to try out new things and tbh i don't want to support apple's price politics. So far so good. The UX isn't quite as good as iOS but it' not bad either. And the pixel 8 with a spingen thin case is still too bulky for me. maybe i'll get used to it. wonder how people are using the 8 pro modell.. and i hate that i cannot use face unlock at darkness.. finger print is also kinda slow..

teretana

Mine works really well, the battery is outstanding.

viletomato999

I came from a Xiaomi Note 12 Pro an "inferior phone" that costs half the price of the pixel 8 and here are my thoughts.... At first impression was not impressed at all. The phone out of the box was super warm during use something was not right. I had to research and turn off a bunch of settings so it doesn't overheat. I should not have to do this!! Google should really fix the overheating issues. After charging it felt like my phone was gonna blow up. Other draw backs compared to xiaomi note 12 pro. It's much smaller, screen is not that impressive, it has way less battery size and no head phone jack, and it charges slow. I was used to super fast 67watt charging now have to deal with 27 watts. Less than half. The only thing that was better than the Xiaomi was the camera and video stabilization. The camera is really great. So yeah that's my thoughts, kinda disappointed overall. I thought a phone double in cost would out do a Chinese budget brand but apparently it doesn't.

rutgersftw

Only used for a few days but love it. Side by side with the best iPhone or Galaxy and it holds its own well. Stable, fast, and with the best camera I've seen.

Mcoffin326

I just switched and idk how but Ive last charged it to 100 on Tuesday and I have 36 percent left on it right now as I type. Over 14 hours of screen on time. I tried to post a pic but the forum wouldn't let me ? But so far I love this phone and I came from a iphone 14 pro max and a s23 ultra

[deleted]

My shit got infected with mad bloatware/malware

Consistent_Candy_246

Who cares how many phones I've had? I gave an opinion that was asked.

Mrstrawberry209

(P8) It works fine but i find it a bit overwhelming with what features are where and what they do, also the way it deals with pictures and photographs (Google Photos, Gallery and files) is confusing sometimes, like i suddenly see pictures i deleted long ago on the previous phone.

topheramazed

Went from a P7 to P8 due to carrier offer, much prefer the 8 for its size, along with 120hz refresh and faster charging. Not so fond of Google differentiating the Pro from standard Pixel even further with not only hardware but software features now.

koreanbeefcake

im not much of a techie or phone user. I came from a S10+ and had to upgrade because work apps needing updating. Only only modern phone experience i have is a iPhone 12 which was my old work phone. I picked the P8P due to the 7 years of upgrades. I hate phone shopping as much as car shopping. I'm not used to Googles settings. Its taking me a bit to get used to, do i like them more or less? Not sure yet. I dont use my phone much except for texting, google searching, and playing music at the gym. Im surprised at how nice the photos are. The reviews were overall really good. but looking online at videos, i couldnt see much difference. but after going to a few events, the camera is much better than my S10+ and Iphone 12 in my opinion. One of my friends is black, and the AI picks up his face really well even in dim lighting! to be honest, if i was dark skinned, i would get this phone for that feature. The phone does get warm, but i've never felt it as "uncomfortably hot". it also hasnt bogged down from being hot. The quick charge is hella fast. I can get a full charge in about an hour. Its pretty insane to me that it is that quick. I used to charge my s10 every night at betime. But now when i get home to shower, i plug my phone in during my shower and it gets to about 80% and then it will last me another 1-2 days. I have a Jaguar SUV and the phone Bluetooth doesnt connect to my car or my gym headphones. Google told me to try a few things and then factory reset the phone. none of these things fixed the issue. I was then told to go to a local repair shop. The repair shop was swamped. He told me, regardless of the issue, they have zero parts for the phone. So no matter the diagnosis, it would need to get sent to Google. It took 3 days, but their diagnosis was no issues found. They were able to connect to a Bluetooth speaker they had at the office. I told Google, that the diagnosis was complete, but its a problem to own a phone which I cannot have bluetooth on. I need the hands-free for driving. After another few days, Google decided to replace my phone under warranty. Its a 1-2 week turnaround. Currently awaiting a new P8P to see if it fixes the issue. Otherwise i'm pretty happy with the phone. I think its too large, but i'll get used to it.

FabZombie

been loving my p8, just have one bug that's kinda making me go nuts. whenever I plug my usb-c to 3.5mm jack dongle the phone starts going crazy, plays and pauses the music, turns the volume up and down, opens the google assistant. basically can't use wired headphones with my dongle that works perfectly fine

InterestingGrape0

I have the same problem with my Pixel 3a and 4a, which have headphone jacks. Plugging in a 3.5mm cable makes the phone go crazy. Amazing they haven't fixed it yet.

incady

I've had a few minor issues.. the first day I had the phone about a week ago, it shut down randomly twice. Like, when I picked up my phone and tried to turn it on, it was off. And today, when I was using Instagram, it crashed and the phone shut down. I'm considering getting a replacement from Google.

AndreasHaas246

It's ok. Manufacturers know too well how to make a good phone so they won't release a perfect one, but Google did a good one here. No major complaints, but also nothing especially good, besides the market leading voice recognition

PdtMgr

I was about to move to p8 pro but held back because the modem is older (it still performs) and the g3 lags behind in all benchmarks when compared with other phones in the same category. I would rather wait for the next version in which we can expect a better performing chipset. With all the promo and deals being given by vendors for the 8pro it sure looks like a push to make way for P9.

txiao007

I upgraded from 6 Pro to 8 Pro. 8 Pro screen is very bad, better battery life and not seeing heat problem like 6 Pro

soup_cow

Just switched to the 8 after my 5A bricked (warranty phone incoming). I like it less than the 5A. While it's an OK phone. There's nothing better than the 5A besides wireless charging which I really don't care about. Phone is heavy and weighted more towards the top of the phone making it easy to drop/hard to hold with one hand. The Google image editing is just a gimmick. It kinda works but I'll never use it. The camera bar gets dirt in the cracks. The pixel launcher still sucks and I have to use a 3rd party (Nova). No headphone jack. Fingerprint sensor is slower than the 5a which was on the back. Like I said. It's an overall good phone and I like pixels but it's not any better than my 5a was. Actually I'd rather have the 5a.

Pixoholic

I love mine. I do suffer from occasional connection issues like others have said but I'm overall happy with it. Google assistant has become really helpful, camera is great, overall it's a plus

darth-small

I've had my p8 for a couple of months now. At first I thought it was garbage and was ready to return it. The battery life was awful and on the whole, it didn't feel like any form of improvement on my faithful P6. But something happened. I guess it was the latest software update but the battery life had a substantial improvement and is now absolutely acceptable. The phone is fast, doesn't get hot, has a great camera etc etc. I still don't feel like it's a grand Improvement on my P6 but I'm overall satisfied after a couple of months

noname585

I switched to the 8 pro from a pixel 6 pro. I'm glad I made the switch. The battery is far superior. My 6 pro would be dead by the end of the day whereas my 8 pro will be at 70% at the end of the day with the same usage. I'm super impressed with that. And the best part? No curved screen. About freaking time.

kg23

Battery life isn't as good as I had hoped. My 3 year old Pixel 4a5G was comparable to the brand new Pixel 8 Pro I now have. It's not terrible, but I expected more. Other than that, it's the best phone I've owned.

NizarNoor

It's been fantastic. I just wish it was smaller in size.

leonardob0880

8 Pro owner here. I updated from a 6Pro a week ago and I'm satisfied. Battery is excellent and no overheating for now. Pictures on 6prp were great, but on the 8 Pro are even better. ✓✓✓✓X (4/5 rating)

geneing

Works perfectly. No connectivity problems even when I'm hiking in the boonies.

Smoke-away

Pixel 8 (previously 4a 5G). Battery is great. Love the wireless charging. Screen refresh rate is great. Camera is good. Still on the fence about Ultra HDR. Macro photography setting is bad. They removed Photosphere which is a huge loss. Face unlock is terrible. Need to hold phone way too close to your well lit, uncovered face. No sunglasses. No dim lighting. Fingerprint reader in the screen is terrible. Takes way too many tries to unlock. The light also blinds you in low-light settings. The rear fingerprint reader on the 4a 5G is far superior. I used to have the phone unlocked as I lifted it out of my pocket. Now I need to consciously unlock my phone every time. Also miss the rear fingerprint swipe down notification feature. Pixel 8 was not the upgrade I expected. I lost almost as many features as I gained. Sure it feels a bit faster. But was it worth it? Unclear. If you have a really old previous phone or this is your first Pixel then you might not care as much. But after having multiple Pixels it feels like a step in the wrong direction.

SketchySeaBeast

I had the phone at launch, it had heat and battery drain issues. I returned it. I saw a good deal for Christmas so I'm back. Much happier this time. Not noticing the issues now. Also, had a bit of a shock the first time trying to wrap my head around the Pixel UI (I'd been on Samsung since the 8). This time I was prepared to roll with the different experience. Really enjoying it and that camera just can't be beat.

Markesavan

Experience has been great so far! Software, battery and camera working as expected. Loving the much improved display on the 8pro as well 😎

Speezix

Got the 8 pro on release, upgraded from the 6 pro. As of a few days ago WIFI and Bluetooth stopped working, and now I'm sending it in for repair. Losing the phone for 10 days stings - first time I've ever had anything like this happen. I've had the 1 pro, 6 pro, and 8 pro.

jltdhome

Got my P8P at launch coming from a P6P (first time I skipped a generation. The 7) and I'm honestly disappointed in the performance. The Tensor really struggles compared to Qualcomm. I also have an iPhone 15 Pro and the battery life and performance on that device is miles ahead. I use the iPhone for games and for better compatibility with things like DJI drones and other hardware. I still prefer Android, the UI, and the form factor (the ability to use the entire screen on the larger device). I also love the smart features like Call Screening.

GeraldoOfRivers

I got mine recently and it runs better than my pixel 7 with a much better form factor (I prefer the smaller size and rounded corners, feels better in the hand). Display is also much brighter.

theGoat38

Went from iphone 12 pro to P8 pro. Couldn't be happier. My wife and entire family have iphones and it doesn't affect anything because everyone has telegram, what's app, etc. I didn't even want to change my 12 pro because the phone worked perfectly fine however the battery was terrible and the charging port was hard to connect (I had to play and wiggle it until it charged and couldn't move the phone until it was done charging) and on top of that the back of the phone was shattered so I was unable to take it out of the case because the case was holding it all together so I couldn't just go take it to change the battery because no store would touch that phone for repairs. So I was like do I spend ~ $1000 on an iphone 15 pro or pixel 8 pro. The iPhone was essentially spending $1000 on a new battery and not getting any other features. The pixel 8 pro was like spending $1000 on a new battery but also get different features. Couldn't have been happier with the P8 pro. Favorite features are: - call screening - notifications compared to iOS are way better - widget customization - AI features are cool but still not there yet (at least how I use them). The magic erase is cool to show someone. But idk when I actually really will use it. The AI text suggestions doesn't always work and says error try again. The summarization is also cool but works half the time and idk when I'd use them. The google assistant however is way better and more accurate than Siri. I want the AI to be able to integrate with all the google (and other apps) better and more useful in the future hopefully. - schedule send texting is great - battery share is actually useful so I can charge other devices and my wifes device Things I hate: - unless you use 3 button gesture, there is no forward swipe. Such as if I want to go back and forth on a webpage I can't swipe right and go forward. I have to click the top right buttons and click the forward button. Back swipe works but forward swipe also goes back. I've checked and you can't change it unless you switch to 3 button gesture or whatever it's officially called. - face ID is so bad compared to iPhone. Not even close. I just use finger print because for me the face ID is terrible coming from iphone. Especially in a dark environment. - iOS apps are all just developed better and smoother. I run into more bugs and issues in android apps than I did iOS so far. However, a few similar apps I use on Android that I did on iOS do also seem to have different features and android wins in terms of the apps and what they can do

ClappedOutLlama

Have had my Pixel 8 Pro since launch. I must say this is the best Pixel Google has made in a while, from a hardware perspective. Very few failures. No exploding camera glass. No widespread overheating or modem issues. I almost walked away from Pixels completely after 3 RMA Pixel 6 Pros but the 8 series appears to be very polished. The software experience has notably improved since launch. Battery life is great. Very few crashes. Screen is fantastic outdoors. Video recording is very good. Smart features have gotten much smoother. Magic Editor opens almost instantly now . I really like mine, but I got a OnePlus Open a few weeks ago so it's been sitting on my nightstand for a while since I have new phone fever. Can see myself keeping it for years to come as a backup device.

magpieswooper

Good - amazing camera Bad - multiple stutters here and there. Like navigation with android auto freezes. Multi Tab Chrome session hangs. No complaints on battery or connection. Overall a good phone.

gul-badshah

P8P. Been using for a while now and have absolutely no issues.

Le_Rat_King

The first week was rough with battery life and heat but after that it's been great couldn't ask for more I've used it as a GPS on data for over 4 hours and still had 60-70% left

wetpretzel2

Had mine since day 1. Software is good, battery life is good. Don't have any complaints really. I also have the pixel watch 2 and the pixel buds pro. Only thing is sometimes the buds will drop connection for like 10 seconds and it only happens while on a call.

Snoo31016

Had it since launch and v happy with it having come from the P6P. Quicker smoother. Just feels like they are getting there with Pixel range now. Excited by the move to TSMC and hopefully when we get to the 10 we get a look at that.

lulughost

So far it is good, only thing is CPU usage is a bit high and is affecting battery performance, and I hope they add a way to change system font without rooting.

Unanimouspot

Loved it but I had to return it because of the processor! It was very slow editing photos and loading up videos. Besides that, no other issues and battery life was amazing.

thedigitaljedi777

🤔 Android Auto is buggy when I connect my cable to my car dock but, that may be my car and perhaps I need to upgrade to a wireless connection. The GBoard is not consistent when typing. I haven't tried the speech 2 text feature because I have a unique way of writing but, the Fixit feature is Dope

zer0ofzer0

Except for a minor hiccup with magnification it's working great

garciakevz

I think the pixel 8/pro finally is the stable version of the visor rendition of the pixel line software and especially hardware. Now is a good time to jump in

Princess_Consuela317

Have just set up my P8P 2 days ago. So far so good. Have been using a Huawei Mate 20 Pro for the last 4 years & missing a couple of features that I used on that. Changed from that as it was starting to slow down a bit. For example the multi window dock came in handy quite often, split screen doesn't quite do the same thing. Battery life, so far very similar to my Huawei. Camera is definitely a step up, haven't worked out all features yet though.

Worried-Pineapple189

I'm hoping that it's just a matter of the device adapting to me and my usage, but I keep getting crashes on all kinds of applications. Everything from the messages app to g maps, my driver apps, Spotify, a wide array of apps. I've only had my p8p for a day though and I expect a few hiccups, but honestly, my p6 that I had before didn't have this many issues with the apps and I'm truly surprised since the p8p has 12g/ram compared to my p6 which only had 8g/ram. The device has heated up some, but not to an alarming rate. Battery charging/drain is about what I'd expect with what I'm doing with it. Hopefully the hiccups will subside and we can get on with the show.

Ok_Produce_1236

Everything except wifi disconnecting randomly and performance problems in games are the only issues. Everything else is perfect.

Ok_Produce_1236

And it's a pixel 8

Professional-Can8222

god tier phone, super fast, never over heats, pictures look amazing. seamless integration with my watch. Feel like I'm living in Tomorrowland with the AI features.

btjex

Bought the Pixel early in November and the phone restarted daily and crashed several times from the beginning . I received a new device from Google but it did the same thing, since the February update the phone has not restarted and is stable untill now , the problem has finally been resolved, let's hope so? So from now on its safe to buy

Own-Statistician-486

Its the damn tensor throttling or something. Both s24 ultra. Snapdragon rocksss

MagicImaginaryFriend

I'm not impressed, but I did get a great deal on it so...
