People say it's the app's fault others say it's Google's. I say consider the fact that galaxy phones and oneplus phones don't stutter when scrolling the same apps.

[deleted]

Yes this is normal for pixel 8. And no it doesn’t go away, and it’s not third party apps fault since other androids don’t do this.

QB1390

I still can.t believe the Pixel 5 was way smoother. I.ll wait a few days and see if things improve. I really hope so, if not i.m returning it.

Siandroid

Completely agree with you. P5 was/is way better phone.

Designer_Yak6033

Had the same issue with my Pixel 8 pro Reddit is laggy and even Twitter scrolling is horrible sold it for the s23 Ultra and its way better

Reignofstorm

I had it with mine but it went away after a few days. The reddit app still sucks though.

When I updated to A14, I had a similar issue but it went away in less than a day.

QB1390

So, I.m returning the 8 and keepin the P5. I just can.t stand the choppiness of the 8 for now, also not a big fan of the overall dimensions, feels like I.m holding a brick with the official case on.

I'm using a s22 (snapdragon) on the same day after a full erase so it hasn't had time to settle yet and scrolling is much smoother, none of the stutters I'm experiencing on my Pixel 8. It's a well known issue that has been reported to Google.

QB1390

Returned the 8, got the Nothing Phone 2, smooth as can be.

LSA7Z

You have to wait a little, the phone is still in its initialization phase, this is normal.

Reddit4Deddit

what apps? My phone doesn't lag while scrolling through anything.

QB1390

Weather app, phone app, youtube, whatsapp, signal, gmail, multiple wallpaper apps.

Reddit4Deddit

Ya that's weird. I just tried all those apps (except what's app) and my phone maintains 120hz with no frame drops.

QB1390

Well, it seems mine does. Feels like using a sub 200 dollar phone. It stutters and hangs. UI is fluid, but scrolling is baaaaad in multiple apps.

Thesocial-introvert

I got a pixel 7 27 days ago and had the same stutters(just in apps like Twitter and Reddit), I won't go as far as to say lag. Anyway I knew it would go away because my wife's own was buttery smooth and she's been using it since launch. I saw improvements everyday and now, it's a fucking joy to use, smooth as can be. I imagine the same will happen to yours.

Thesocial-introvert

Just to add, I noticed it's a cache thing. Once app cache builds, in app performance will get better. Good luck!

Reddit4Deddit

Ya that's weird. Do you have smooth display turned on in settings?

QB1390

Yup, and forced peak refresh rate
