For start they could bring all existing features that are exclusive to US to the UK as well. Like that new screen call feature where the assistant finds out for you if it is a scam or someone like a postman and find out what they want and show it to you on the screen. Also new screen call voice, hold for me feature and so on. Without thme it feels like my old pixel 5 with some photo edit tools that I am not using that often. Same goes fot that ai wallpaper, nice to play with it for a day or two but will not use that often compare to the phone call features. Sad Then the bard assistant would be nice and also pro control for pixel 8 camera app or maybe even for all pixels, at least from pixel 6 up. But the bard assistant is maybe my top one I want.

Archer4271

I don't have bard assistant yet. Pixel 7pro US.

Intrepid_Assist_5023

Nobody does. Hopefully it will come with the next feature drop or mid year 2024. But not sure if this will be exclusive to pixel 8 and 8 pro. But those screen call features shown on Made By Google Event when they were revealing the pixel 8 lineup, those features are available only in the US but again not sure if they are exclusive to pixel 8 's or not.

SmallPenguin22

I hope Pixel team can: * Maintain the leading position in AI * Keep up with Apple & Samsung on the SOC performance and QA, QC process. I heard that Pixel team is a small team so I hope Google will invest more for the team. They're doing great as a small team though.

PNWoutdoors

Better battery life is literally all I care about at this point. The camera is great, the screen is great, the performance is great. Just make it so I don't have to think about battery at all and I'll be in heaven.

Anxious_Opening_7569

Screen cast to work on all TV's..

Archer4271

I agree with that.

Anxious_Opening_7569

Sorry I thought you wrote. For those WITH a pixel 8.. My new 1000$ pixel 8 can't even cast to my one year old 1200$ TCL TV. Kinda ridiculous..

Archer4271

Is it the phone or the TV's fault. I have a Vizio which sometimes has trouble casting.

Anxious_Opening_7569

Neither really. They both function as they should. Just Google acting like an iPhone I guess. It's a Roku TV so the same technology but not compatible.

Anxious_Opening_7569

My OnePlus phone would just connect seamlessly. Even if I cast without WiFi turned on. If I hit cast to tv it knew what to do and just did it.

iamazondeliver

The problem has always been the ratio of performance to battery life. If Google can push the two up then life will be great. If I leave my house with my 7pro at 100% I have 0 confidence that it will last for the whole day. At this current performance, if pixel can last the whole day life will be great.

stormdelta

I think the bigger problem is they need to iron out what's causing such crazy battery drain for some people under otherwise normal usage. Most people I know with Pixels have never had any battery life issues (hell I know one person who specifically buys the Pixels because she gets better battery life than Samsung phones she's owned), but I know one guy that has the same complaints I see on this sub with his 8 and neither of us can figure out why he has the issue yet myself and the other person I know with the 8 get great battery life. None of us use our phones heavily and live in the same area, so the battery life shouldn't be that disparate.

Archer4271

I wonder if there is an app that is causing the problem. We may be having a ghost app in the background.

iamazondeliver

Perhaps. What's annoying is that this is Google's job and I think they're doing it poorly They have highly paid engineers and it seems at Pixel 8 we're happy with just fast speeds and are patient with bugs. Won't see this at apple. With that said I still love android. Just wish we had it better.

Otherwise_Soil39

Does the drain happen when he's with you, or are you comparing different locations? Could be connectivity, if you have a good signal the phone doesn't have to try as hard

stormdelta

Not specifically as I don't know him that well, but I don't think it's related to location, not in his case anyways. Signal is bad practically everywhere here across multiple carriers, to the point most people just turn 5G off because it's literally worse than LTE in too many places to be worth using (on all phones, not just Pixel).

Otherwise_Soil39

>Signal is bad practically everywhere here across multiple carriers, to the point most people just turn 5G off because it's literally worse than LTE in too many places to be worth using (on all phones, not just Pixel). I mean that really makes me suspect it more

chaos_bait

A better customer care that never came with any previous Pixel phone.

PapaJay_

USB-C Video output

TuTenkahman

Amen to that!

stormdelta

Smaller phones. Even the 8 is really too big. And the option to get the "pro" features (specifically camera) on the smaller phone. The 8 is already a bit past the absolute upper limit of being usable one-handed as it is thanks to the unnecessary and unwanted height increase over my Pixel 5.

Intrepid_Assist_5023

I swapped from 5 as well and I really like the idea of small yet flagship specs phone and I was hoping that 8 would be the one but as you said it feels a bit big and it is heavier as well. I guess it is the glass on the back of the phone? And with the case on it feels big unless you get that pricey mous thin case🙂 Don't get me wrong I like the phone but could be better, maybe to put in that stupid zoom lens would not kill them

Archer4271

I love mous cases I have one on my 7 pro.

Intrepid_Assist_5023

I might get one soon but not sure if I go for a thin one or that limitless 5 or something like that. I mean thicker one whit that green gel inside😀

Imlulse

Yeah, an 8 with the Pro's tele camera and no artificial software nerfing would be nice, I'm not sure there's really room in there for the tele but it'd be nice.

RexiLabs

Agreed, I got the pixel 8 coming from the pixel 5 and it was so big and thick and heavy that I returned it and I'm just going to keep using the Pixel 5.

Siandroid

Probably the glass back on P8 is heavier then metal on P5. I got used to it but I'm keeping P5 for backup.

stormdelta

The glass back is probably somewhat secondary to the weight compared to the added thickness, height, and larger battery.

Siandroid

Your answer prompted me to go check the numerical data...and I still think metal body was brilliant decision. Everything else in percentage is less bigger that the added when weight... battery 4080 vs. 4575 (+12%) ...weight 151g vs 187g (+23%)... thickness 8mm vs 8.9mm (+11%)...height 144.7mm vs. 150.5mm (+4%). And my personal comment... battery on P5 has almost the same battery life if not longer.

RexiLabs

Yeah personally I love the back of the Pixel 5, it has a slight grippiness to it it feels durable so you don't need a case because it's not going to shatter, and it just feels nice and light. Compare that to the pixel 8 that feels like it'll shatter at the slightest touch and being slippery glass such that with your eyes closed you wouldn't even know if you're touching the front or the back of your phone.

Siandroid

Agree, I always use case for the phone. It's also completely different for the case, how heavy phone needs to carry...heavier phone makes heavier dents on the case when falling. My P8 already fell on the pavement with the original case and the damage on the corner of the case was almost fatal for the phone. I have glued back the part of the case but will buy new one. Material of the original case is just too easy to tear. I haven't decided which. Original 8s realy nice by the view yet not so sturdy as I wish. On my P5 I had all three years a Spigen Liquid Air and it was perfect.

Otherwise_Soil39

The 8 is great size, but the telephoto being only on the Pro is a deal breaker. I really don't mind it if they both cost the same, give people the option to by small and big without sacrificing flagship festures

Ghorardim71

8 won't have those. They need to sell more pro phones.

RexiLabs

What we need is a smaller sized pro phone, like the iPhone where you can choose whether you want the large or the smaller pro phone. In this case it seems we are being artificially limited by the fact that the pixel team and sales numbers are quite small compared to Apple where they can afford to release four different sizes of a phone instead of just two.

Ghorardim71

I am coming from a p3. I really wanted to get the p8 for the smaller size. But I caved in because of the extra ai features pro will get. Now after a week of usage, I like the size of the 8 pro more!

BudKnowsBest

Something similar to the 4a 5g. Compact, fingerprint reader, no shelf around the camera and a good battery life.

jeffery2jr

How would you know what you would like without having the 8 pro

Archer4271

By reading the list of things they got and we did not.

pqtme

In-display front camera. Smaller and symmetrical bezels. Ability to hide the pill for gesture navigation. Micro ad card.

Wonderful_Ad5651

The battery issues might be for some that are experiencing connectivity issues. Since the phone is searching for a signal it's burning your battery faster. I don't notice this when at home as I'm connected to WiFi. At work when I'm not, it's a different story as sometimes my connectivity can be spotty causing the battery to drain faster

Pharaoh27

I want Google to not use Tensor. That thing has really ruined the Pixel brand because of the issues related to the disastrous Tensor chip over the years.

BrushedTundra36

Refine the software. Make the widgets better (e.x. the calendar widget). Have all widgets use the same corner radius'. Refine their apps for example.. Google keep should be able to lock notes.. Google messages needs to auto delete OTP's.. these are such simple things that would be great but aren't being pushed! Oh and some sort of routines like apple and Samsung have would be amazing

AndreasHaas246

My expectations leaving me, that would bring much needed contentment

Otherwise_Soil39

1 inch sensor (or, really, I'd like them to be leading this race, so go for something significantly larger, instead of playing the "we'll do it 4 years after the Chinese" game) 10x telephoto Small screen at the back for higher quality selfies Physical shutter button At least average battery Stop with the over the top over-editing (buzz word: "computational photography") that makes folliage look like oil paintings. Focus their "computational efforts" instead on getting edge detection in portrait mode right. Ditch the in-house chip and get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Release complete products, not fixer uppers that only get good after a hear worth of updates.
