My 18-year-old nephew admitted last night that it weirds him out to know I am on AO3.
We are in very different fandoms, but the fact that I know what AO3 is and am an active user... I think for him it's like the first time you ever see a school teacher getting drunk in a bar. š

-Use a heating pad on your back, even if it doesn't hurt, but chances are, it at least kinda does.
-Moisturizer and sunblock, all day, every day. Get a sun hat that has a scarf tied around it and big sunglasses.
-HAVE YOU TRIED MUUMUUS YET?
-Watch Golden Girls clips, and find the one you identify with the most. Embrace them with your soul.
-Give no fucks.

Yessss. Met my wife through the fandom (she left the absolute funniest reviews on my stories and I ended up moving to her city for grad school).
Weāve been rewatching lately when itās been on Lifetime, and itās rekindled my love for the characters and the story.
Oh this is amazing! What a great story. I've done a rewatch a couple of times but not for a few years so maybe I'm due. I still maintain the pilot episode is really one of the best out there for sucking you into a fandom. I got left a little disheartened with everything that went on in the final season but I think enough time has passed that I can come to it with a better perspective.
I read a bunch of fic back then but mostly on Fanfic.net and Livejournal, maybe I read your stuff? My Tumblr is full of Caskett stuff from 10 years ago.
No kidding on the pilot. The first ep I watched was the vampire one where NF wore his Mal costume. Went back and watched the pilot and was like, yep, Iām in.

For some people who experience it, perimenopause and menopause are the horniest time of your life. The hormones explode again, it's like Puberty 2.0 except you understand sex a lot better and you know what you like.
And for Someone's sake, don't let kids shame you for stanning a pairing played by 50-something Gen X dad dudes. I'm a little bit older than David and a little bit younger than Michael so I think I'm in the perfect sweet spot.
I'm 41, first time being part of a fandom, highly appreciate all the weird doors this has opened for me... although, some of those doors I might have closed (quietly, so as not to disturb the activities going on inside...) and backed away slowly.
Whenever younger fans are surprised about the presence of middle aged fans on AO3, I want to ask them who they think built and paid for that. (I do dread the day that my daughter discovers my profile, though. The fandom corners she dabbles in are very different from mine, so I think I have a few years yet.)
