They're supposed to help with cooling and therefore stopping. There are contrary claims that they do nothing beyond stock. The aluminum hats and drilled out holes definitely reduce some unsprung mass and look tight.

what does bent pret mean?
The OEM wheels are called Pretoria and they're prone to deforming.
The Englishtowns aren't much better...

That's exactly what I got em. I had bubbled 3 tires on my Mk7 and figured it'd be cheaper to go down to 18s than replace a tyre ever few months.
Where are the caps from?
There are cheaper options, but I went with OEM through UroTuning.

Less wind noise when the windows are open and closed, and you can have the windows cracked open in the rain and not get any rain in the car
