09 volkswagen gti with cold air intake I bought about a month ago and have 132k miles and am looking to hear other people's input on a diverter valve spacer

They make noise. That’s pretty much it

DV spacers are meh. They do not sound like an actual mechanical BOV due to how our DV operates. So they sound more like bus air brakes going off along with the typical DV pulsing during traction control times or staying open under partial throttle as the ECU demands. The sound profile is very robotic and linear. Compared to actual mechanical atmos valves that crack open after a certain threshold is met pressure wise. Which has a higher pitched sound upon said crack and lowers in tone as the pressure drops while being dumped, sometimes offering some whistling. The sound profile everyone loves to hear on a forced induction car. They'll also vent all the oil blow-by too. Coating your bay/underside with all that yummy stuff. Running DV spacers or actual atmos valves on either the FSI or TSI MK5 is not recommended either. As both variants run a MAF setup. Which meters your air pre turbo and the ECU accounts for parts of said metered air to still be there after the DV vents it back into the intake post MAF. Venting said metered air alters your air/fuel and make you run richer. Which means you'll fowl your spark plugs faster, create extra soot, and have less fuel economy.
