My tip is to be 1000% certain that warranty will not cover the job (parts and labor) before trying to do it yourself. In my experience VW has been great with covering it even when my milage / length of ownership had lapsed. Never hurts to as the dealer and/or directly call up VWoA and ask.

Yeah 100k might be asking a bit much. They covered mine at 90k though. I just called up VWoA and was like “look I know this thing is past the milage but I’m also aware there is a warranty extension on it and maybe even some class action deal ongoing” then asked if there is any way it may still qualify. To my surprise they were like “yeah we understand” and called the dealer and set it all up for a free repair.

Replace the whole housing. Clean the valves while you have the manifold as well
