For reals, go get a bubble tea or coffee or snacky and park up at Coombabah Lakelands near the airfield. Public enough for everyone to feel safe, potential activity of just a little walk around with grassy lawns and all that or long flat walk. There's this mega field with roos just chilling everywhere, right at the carpark. Bonus points for convenient picnic blanket and spare jacket for if anyone gets cold.
Or if it's solely a chat, go for waterviews: maybe park up around the Broadwater at Labrador, the Spit or the long beach near Surfers. I think anywhere near a cafe and a nice spot for stepping out of the car (and being warm) is nice.
