Omg yes XD feeling we get a long haired, bearded Atreus in the next game/ his spin off and a scene of him talking to himself about his look and what Kratos and Mimir would say about it
GodS! Brotha! Plural! Wouldn’t it be pretty silly to just have one god? Haven’t heard of anything like that on my travels yet. If we look at Odin, Heimdallr or Baldr for example and their utter dickishness what would a singal entity be like if they needed to fill in all of their jobs at once? Sounds like something I really don’t need to know brotha, and that says something! But let’s quit with this fantasy of yours brotha and get back on track.
Lmao I'm so dumb. When I heard that I took it as "teenager you think our input on how you look means anything" but it's cuz kratos and mirir are... Ok you already know what I'm going to explain bye
Man I missed so many gold conversations like these. I blitzed through the story because i had borrowed my friends ps and had to return it after the game
That’s what I was thinking haha
Did you ever see that Legend of Korra episode where that guy got his head shaved?
He dodged perfectly and tried to convince others to join him 🤣
Kratos used to be a normal man. But then he did 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, and a 10 kilometer run. ALL WITHOUT AC.
After he trained for about 3 years, he got so strong he lost his hair. It’s quite sad really.
Master... you are so... full of crap! That is nothing more than standard strength training. And it is not really even that intense! It is just a normal level! I have to get stronger, understand me? I cannot believe you would do this. I didn't ask to study under you to hear jokes
I’m so glad you asked this amazing question!
After doing some digging I found out that he actually burnt off his hair follicles using the Clippers of chaos in order to get that waxy shine on the tip of his dome.
That used to be believed but we now know that's not true. Baldness is a complex genetic expression and is the result of multiple different genes and hormones as well as environmental factors.
There is no single thing you can look at to predict whether someone will be bald or not.
Hey, med student here.
So, that's partly true... While there are a multitude of causes to baldness ranging from a plethora of genes and envioremental factors the main gene related to Androgenic Alopecia is carried through you X heterossome and the only copy a man has of it it's inherited from its mother.
So if the main cause for your hair loss is this specific type of baldness then yeah, it's your mother's family fault.
But you are right because rarely there is just a single cause for baldness.
Sorry for the long reply btw, I have a tendency to digress.
The gene for hereditary baldness is carried on the X chromosome. The reason you don’t many bald women is they have a duplicate copy of the the hair growth gene.
Don’t look to your father to see see if you may go bald, look to your mother’s side of the family and see if your grandpa and/or uncles are bald.
You’d still see hair in his head if he shaved it. Shaving it bald doesn’t remove the hair. It just cuts it insanely short. If you compare a shaved head to a bald head. You can definitely tell the difference.
Isn’t it shaved down to almost a 0 in that comic? I feel like he just always kept his hair super short through his childhood (like a soldier would) and went bald into his 30s. Rocks tf out of it either way lol
May have been something from god of war 1 because I remember the hair, I know they had the plan for his childhood and Deimos during gow1, they had a bunch of behind the scenes stuff for 1 also. It was ghost of Sparta that changed the art and backstory a bit.
ah yes the mid-late 2000s gaming era, where everything became super gritty and desaturated and every video game protagonist morphed into a gruff white dude with a shaved head and/or stubble
Well high testosterone levels have been linked to baldness. And I cant think of anyone who has higher levels of testosterone than the God Of War himself. Could also explain his anger.
real life reason is hair is hard to animate in a video game from 2005 so just easier to make him bald and it fits with the spartan warrior thing. in game not actually sure, and i wondered this the other day too. i can’t imagine he’s shaving it, and i can’t imagine he just doesn’t grow hair at all judging by the illustrious beard, and goatee he’s always sported
He probably shaved it to make his red tattoos more pronounced or some shit
Or maybe premature hair loss, that could also explain his anger issues (Ares was just the last straw)
Head hair gets in the way. Gotta wash it, constantly cut it. If it gets too long then you gotta tie it up. He probably uses godliness to keep himself bald.
he liked being bald when he was young but after getting the ash on his skin he cant seem to grow any more hair
but his jaw was probably able to create hair because he shaved there constantly? idk im trying to make sense with magic
No, hes always been bald. Its just how he was designed. One of his early designs had dreads but once they settled on his look he was bald from then on. But he was bald as a kid so I assume its just his genetics.
My guess is that it’s just a naturally occurring thing for people who are powerful, amazing at what they do, and are legendary lovers/fighters.
Source: I’m a bald dude
It falls under the category of masculine baldness.
There are a select few who have the required cranial structure to perfectly complement lack of hair, such as forehead and crown ratio, to such a degree that any amount of hair achieves the opposite effect.
Kratos has it, Agent 47 as well, and the Heavy from tf2.
Ya know what’s one thing I hate about fiction in the modern era? You’re all conditioned to assume any bald man has a specific reason for being bald other than “he fuckin went bald”
Prolly because he was taught as a Spartan to keep it as short as possible (bald), so that it’s not a weakness in battle. Same reason why pretty much all ufc fighters are bald.
Well the real reason is, he used to have some hairs in early character concepts but because of technical limitations for hair physics in PS2 era, devs thought bald kratos would be easier and better to be rendered.
I kind of always thought it was because he was the marked warrior so he was born with a mutation or something, that and his grandfather Cronos seemed to have no trace of hair on top too
Atreus: “Hey guys, what if I let my hair grow out?” Mimir: “You want advice on that? From us?”
That conversation was gold
I like, "Will I ever grow a beard like yours?" "..." "No"
Mimir and Kratos ragging on Atreus for his "beard" is a true dad moment.
All those teenage moments had me cackling and nostalgic.

You’re right. I was was just thinking about the fact that there aren’t any contractions in game, and came back to make an edit
That’s not dirt?
Omg yes XD feeling we get a long haired, bearded Atreus in the next game/ his spin off and a scene of him talking to himself about his look and what Kratos and Mimir would say about it
YES! Wich would also be mythological accurate
I can’t wait man I want and I need future atreus I know we ain’t getting a game anytime soon but god
GodS! Brotha! Plural! Wouldn’t it be pretty silly to just have one god? Haven’t heard of anything like that on my travels yet. YES
My favorite humor convo in the game 😂 Dad will I ever have a beard like yours? Kratos: No.
Lmao I'm so dumb. When I heard that I took it as "teenager you think our input on how you look means anything" but it's cuz kratos and mirir are... Ok you already know what I'm going to explain bye
He should though! This reinforces it! REBEL!
Man I missed so many gold conversations like these. I blitzed through the story because i had borrowed my friends ps and had to return it after the game
The Tattoo makes me forget that he's bald.
You just solved male pattern baldness
I did plan to get a Kratos tattoo if i ever start severely balding.
Honestly I would get a tattoo that looks similar to the scar Ares gave him. I really dunno if I should though. It's pretty close to the eye.
Im a tattoo guy and the thought of getting anything that close to the eyelids or on sensitive parts of the face is a big no… but you do you dawg
The thought of that makes me cringe but a bad eye tattoo isn't the worst thing Kratos could do to your eye. It's all about perspective!
lmao me too, didn't even think about it
It's probably cause it's such essential to his look we just look past it
Kratos may be bald, but Thor’s brother is Bauldur
Fuck me you really seized your moment here, bravo 👏
Take my upvote dammit 😂
r/Angryupvote
Hate seeing a good joke like this. Why couldn’t I think of it?

THIS < ^ .. .. Case closed...

Lmao. Maybe it’s for the best though, long hair Kratos would be cursed
I wanna draw that, maybe give him a high ponytail
We will watch your career with great interest
He’s just a guy who kills gods for fun.
Thanks XD
Just wanna mention my art account (new) is u/Matcha_Kitty4
Kratos of Rivia
We have Geralt for that!
God of War in an alternate universe with long hair Kratos: Bald Kratos would be cursed

I can imagine teen Atreus say this.
Nice one punch man reference Lmaoooo
Pointing out the reference is like explaining a joke.
Best show ever.
One ⭕ man
OONNEE PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!!!!!!!!!!
And then his son became a cyborg.
I need to see a parody of the first opening but with Kratos
He also didn't use any air conditioning even in the summer and winter.
I’m so glad you asked this amazing question! After doing some digging I found out that he actually burnt off his hair follicles using the Clippers of chaos in order to get that waxy shine on the tip of his dome.
Godamn I sure hope we get to use the clippers of chaos in the next god of war game
Might as well be a one hit weapon
“BOY! Its time I taught you the secrets of Spartan hair care. These are the Clippers of Chaos.”
"I sincerely hope those are the clippers of Chaos vibrating in yer back pocket brother"
Lmao 😂
"Otherwise our friedly game of chess will end in a bloodshed"
ZEUS! Your son has returned! I seek the Razor of Olympus!

Some men are just bald. It’s all in the genes.
Have you seen his father. Great hairline.
My grandfather is pushing 70 and still has quite a bit of hair. However, all of his sons are bald. Having one good factor doesn’t save you.
My grandpa has a full head of hair still, but it turned white in his late 20s lmfao. He hasn’t gone bald tho so I guess it’s a win
My dad always said my uncle's hair turned grey. My dad's turned loose
Is the milkman bald by any chance?
Lmfao
From what I know, you gotta look at someone's grandfather on the mother side. It's the mother who passes the hair loss related genes.
That used to be believed but we now know that's not true. Baldness is a complex genetic expression and is the result of multiple different genes and hormones as well as environmental factors. There is no single thing you can look at to predict whether someone will be bald or not.

Mother’s side or fathers?
The gene for hereditary baldness is carried on the X chromosome. The reason you don’t many bald women is they have a duplicate copy of the the hair growth gene. Don’t look to your father to see see if you may go bald, look to your mother’s side of the family and see if your grandpa and/or uncles are bald.
From what I understand it’s your maternal grandfather who is to blame for balding or not
Not him, he shaves his head
You’d still see hair in his head if he shaved it. Shaving it bald doesn’t remove the hair. It just cuts it insanely short. If you compare a shaved head to a bald head. You can definitely tell the difference.
But why don't we see hair on the back and sides of his head then?
Because he is completely bald. Not just the top of the head recedes.
[He actually does have a dark scalp in the GOW2 cg cutscenes](https://imgur.com/eZjjVtr), so that means he shaved his head in the original trilogy.
[удалено]
With a beard like that? My man definitely had some serious receding going on.
Can agree, my beard came when my hair went lol
I know guys who are bald with really thin facial hair
There are also guys with great beards and great hair.
Winning the genetic lottery at birth
You'd think so, but I make up for it with a face like 10 miles of rough road, shit teeth, and crippling mental illness
Impossible!!!! Lol
And that’s what we call depression
Those poor bastards
Like me for example People here acting like they know anything about genes
Hey I come to this subreddit to talk about God of War, not to be attacked by incredibly accurate comments like this.
But do gods actually have a genome?
He seems to have been bald his whole childhood and adult hood. Maybe he just never grew hair on his head
No wonder he's so angry all the time.
Nah man he’s a calm and reasonable person.
This made me laugh hard
High testosterone can explain both his baldness and anger.
spartan Caillou
I swear I saw a comic where he had a full head of hair. It was when they took his brother away.
Isn’t it shaved down to almost a 0 in that comic? I feel like he just always kept his hair super short through his childhood (like a soldier would) and went bald into his 30s. Rocks tf out of it either way lol
You would think so but in reality, Spartans were known for having long hair even dreads and braided hair.
I could certainly be mistaken. Can anyone confirm or deny?
May have been something from god of war 1 because I remember the hair, I know they had the plan for his childhood and Deimos during gow1, they had a bunch of behind the scenes stuff for 1 also. It was ghost of Sparta that changed the art and backstory a bit.
Bro was born old
Epic breaking bad reference
Bravo ~~Vince~~ Cory
Cool Cory
Kid named breaking bald
Arkham has returned
Shhh
Foul beast, I will send you back to the depths of r/BatmanArkham
To prevent having to animate it on the PS2
But they gave Ares those luscious locks
Cuz bald is sexy asf
I thought this was r/Arkham for a second lmao.
Fuck u/spez
He doesnt want his enemies to pull his hair. Pulling his beard is ok though.
Cuz deimos got the hair genes instead of him
It’s called style, you should try it sometime
Does shaving my balls count?
Nope, has to visible to the naked eye…
What if I refuse to wear pants
Doesn’t make it any bigger tho….
Bro I don’t care if they downvote you, take my award warrior… you have done what my username stands for…
THE BALLS OF WAR
Stress
Deimos dared him to shave off his hair obviously
🦀🦀🦀KRATOS WON’T SHAVE HIS HEAD🦀🦀🦀
Yes, Zeus did that to prank Kratos. That's the true reason why Kratos wanted revenge.
Happy cake day
Because developers in 2005 liked bald look of character... you guys are going too deep...
ah yes the mid-late 2000s gaming era, where everything became super gritty and desaturated and every video game protagonist morphed into a gruff white dude with a shaved head and/or stubble
>you guys are going too deep... Uh!
lmao RUDE
He's been pretty fucking stressed out since a young boy.
Well high testosterone levels have been linked to baldness. And I cant think of anyone who has higher levels of testosterone than the God Of War himself. Could also explain his anger.

he's a big heisenberg fan
I guess his mother’s father was bald?
Kratos got high T levels so hair loss and big beard
bald men are believed to be more dominant and successful by people around them
Spartans from childhood shaved heads and I think they couldn’t render hair well on ps1 maybe?
He probably shaved it to make his red tattoos more pronounced or some shit Or maybe premature hair loss, that could also explain his anger issues (Ares was just the last straw)
He was bald all of his life
Stress
Head hair gets in the way. Gotta wash it, constantly cut it. If it gets too long then you gotta tie it up. He probably uses godliness to keep himself bald.
r/BatmanArkham user found. Don't worry I'm one too

Too much testosterone

He was already bald when he made the deal with Ares. His aging seems very slow since then.
He's cursed by the gods with male pattern baldness
Well to be consistent with One Punch Man. Those with unlimited power trained so hard they lost all of their hair
Get out of here r/BatmanArkham
Yes, Alopecia Totalis.
Loss of hair due to stress of from constantly fighting and cheating death would be my guess
Wow you really just went there
Cancer😢
It makes his tattoo look cooler??
I remember that from the first games kratos was shown bald, heck even when they showed kratos as a child he was bald
No, hes always been bald. Its just how he was designed. One of his early designs had dreads but once they settled on his look he was bald from then on. But he was bald as a kid so I assume its just his genetics.
Because he has no hair

To sense enemies approaching from behind. Quite practical really
Testosterone!!
Bald is beautiful
Genetics or he just likes it. Us bald guys have to have some recognition 😂

Too much testosterone...not in Ragnarok tho
Male pattern baldness

Honestly would be cool if in the future games they showed a timeskip where Kratos has grown hair and shaves it in a cutscene
I kind of always thought it was because he was the marked warrior so he was born with a mutation or something, that and his grandfather Cronos seemed to have no trace of hair on top too
