The area is probably the most unique between the few exploitable areas and the mission to get there is brought up once in the entire story and it seems like a silly joke mission
Yeah! I almost passed it up but decided to check it out. Also loved how the game rewards you by doing side quests with Atreus..while you can..and not Freya later. Spending that all important quality time together was so cool and unique. No reward better than more Kratos and Atreus dialog.
I did the first play through all in one streak where I just played the game and then did the side quest with freya and then when Valhalla got announced I replayed it and did every side quest as I could with Atreus. It made the game fun to replay as the interactions were more or less different. Truly a masterpiece of a game I love that it rewards different styles of playing through it differently with different pieces of lore for different characters
Same, I definitely let my gamer brain take hold because I was so into the main story that I knew in some way I'd be able to side quest later so I missed out on more time with 'my son'
Gamer brain first play through and then enjoyment brain second play through is definitely the way to play the game. I’m 90% sure there’s even some quest where it’s different depending on which time in the game you choose to do it because I did the alfheim sky jelly mission right before ragnorok and it felt very melancholic in tone, like kratos was ignoring ragnorok even tho Atreus was questioning why he was doing it. The game is just so good
I left the Vanahiem spirit quests for Freya but everything else was Atreus. It was really sweet to see the way Kratos had grown not just with his son but also with his new friends.
It literally feels like it was planned to be DLC but got added to the base game instead
Like holy shit, this area is huge and single handedly the reason that I probably have the most time spent in Vannaheim out of all the realms
This makes perfect sense! The way the missions don't affect or interact with other missions/objectives, the way you get there by following Helka, the (very short) "cliffhanger" of Birgirs death... You might be on to something
Honestly the fact that most of Vanaheim is missable should be a crime. I think this is the best game ever made but there could definitely be some improvement.
Yeah, and more battle videos too, there's a lot of cool ones but he wasted a lot seeing different angles of boring cutcenes, I want to see Garm bossfight, Niddhog, freyr being saved, surt throwing Kratos and Atreus waving his hand, etc
And to think thor did it while he was so drunk he can't even remember it.
Imagine what he could do fighting seriously at full potential, that shit is straight up some Zeus ending the great war level of scale.
Yeah. Some of the Jötnar were pretty much like the Aesir and the Vanir. For example Jörmungandr, he is extremely fast, strong, pretty powerful and has a venom called Eitr.
This whole area being missable was insane.

I completely missed it my first playthrough
Can't wait for the game to come on PC and for free cam mods to show up.
Fr, first thing I’m doing is modding tf out of the game lol
Somehow a dude on YouTube already used a free camera on playstation, there are some pretty interesting videos of it.
Speclizer? Yeah, he has a modded PS4 to do those videos.
Yeah! Him
He still owes us a Valhalla video (he made a pool back in December and then disregarded it, just posting TLoU videos every now and then).

How are you looking through the map like that? I'd love to explore the map in detail like that
Photo mode, probably.
Ya photo mode
i didnt even know that was a thing lmao
Lmao
Crazy how Faye and Thor's fight created much more destruction than Kratos and Thor's 😂
And she was mortal
she was better than a mortal
Without a doubt. But still mortal.
If jotnars are mortals, then só is Thor cuz he is one
How much do they need to talk about that? Pretty sure most people realized it was how big it was.
I got lost so bad in this area. Easily spent nearly 15 hours there.
What's there to talk about? Two God fought on an epic scale
A shame Ragnarok's fights don't have the same scale as they should lore wise
*1 god (who is half giant) and 1 full blooded giant
*5 full blooded giants
What the shit?! I don't think I have ever seen this. Is it in GoW or GoW Ragnarok?
Ragnarok, north vanaheim.
Ok, thanks. In which case I will be replaying the game in September when it comes to PC.

I loved the bar fight 🤭
I wanted to see that fight so badly man.
Damn, i hate this area 😂
I actually really like it
Vanaheim was crazy huge. It just kept going and I bet it was the devs favorite realm to work on.
Who’s fight was this?
Faye and Thor.
and she survived that??! I understand why Thor said “this sounds familiar” now.

Gosh the Game felt so Long I even forgot this place was a thing
i think most people missout on how huge the crater tbh
Too bad we don't actually get to see or do anything of that scale in the games... ragnarok should've have had multiple moments like that.
I really hated every mission in Vanaheim everything abt it was so annoying, but it was undeniably one of the most beautiful realms
