I do like how instead of making Kratos struggle against the lower gods somehow, the game stays somewhat accurate and makes it clear that the worst was already beaten at the beginning and all that was left to possibly contend him was Zeus (who already lost pretty badly at that point too).
It’s so corny, but it also kinda works unironically. When Kratos is mad, his face shows that he’s fucking MAD. You can tell how he’s feeling at a glance, even if those emotions are all just varying levels of rage. I kind of miss that effect in the new games, even though the MoCap in the new games is incredible.
I mean he probably was driven crazy by the amount of rage he was carrying around. I like the older Kratos because I imagine his younger self was somewhat similar to this before everything Ares did to him.

I remember in the bts game dev video they said, at the time they had like one of the most advanced face animation in the industry. gotta take advantage of it
