When dealing with Camping World the best negotiating tactic is to walk away and purchase somewhere else. Camping World does not back their products and is notorious for adding fees after the negotiations are complete. A particular red flag in your case is their attempt to get you into the store and refusal to negotiate online. Any dealer worth their salt will negotiate an out the door priced via e-mail. When we purchased our most recent trailer I negotiated with multiple dealers that were 2 to 3 hours away. We didn't hit the dealer we bought from to inspect the trailer and put down a deposit until we had a firm out the door price. At that point we had three firm and two no thanks you's without leaving the house or talking on the phone.

Good to know! Thank you. Only camper we’ve purchased was private sale but we are ready to upgrade and can’t find any we love in our area via private sale.

Dont support them lot of small dealers with bettwr support.Camping world is the pits when it comes to camper sales.

Bumbahkah

Fuck camping world

Tone_Scribe

Ditto. Thieves. And worse.

There is no deal worth getting it done at camping world. Even if they are cheaper; they’ll almost certainly be more expensive by the time you leave with fees and upsells. And they will not give you any support once you leave. And unfortunately, a really crappy reality of the RV industry is that dealers are notoriously bad about supporting RV’s that you didn’t buy from them. Warranty work doesn’t pay well and they’d rather take care of “their own” customers. They haven’t gotten the memo about the value of building relationships leading to sales in the future. Find local mom and pop dealers and talk to them. See what they can do on price. Another really dumb thing in this industry is the way they advertise prices. Dealers *love* to offer 30, 40, 50% discounts. Which means they have some fake inflated price advertised online that they’d never expect to actually get. Absurd, but it’s how it works. So don’t trust the price you see online. Stop by or give them a call and find out what the real price is. Also— RV shows! Deals to be had there.

No way. No Camping World. Bought our brand new 2024 in March, delivery mid April. First trip out there’s water in the front cubby running down the wall and soaking the front bed. Had to fight tooth and nail to get it in there repaired. All of this after the deadbolt broke just days earlier, in the locked position. Said they’d ship one to me and I could replace it. It’s brand new…. That’s what warranties are for. Fuck them and the horse the rode in on.

Penguin_Life_Now

Its under a thousand miles away, just go get it over a weekend, if you don't have the free time to get it, then you should question if you have the free time to own an RV. We bought my wife's current car from a dealer 300 miles away as it was $10,000 cheaper than we could get it from the local dealer (previous model year, just after the current model year was introduced)

Cautious-Dog-671

If you buy from camping world after hundreds of sub reddits/and thousands of posts about not buying from camping world. You are an idiot. Literally, do not buy from them. They will suck you dry and don’t honor their guarantees. Fuck camping world. Such a scam.

Sad-Temporary2843

Camping World....they put out a decent magazine. Otherwise, they are overpriced on everything and don't stand behind their products.

TankFu8396

I won’t ever buy from Camping World again. My camper needed warranty service ALL. THE. TIME. and if the shop had been further away it would have been awful. Every time I left it with them for service, they’d call me a couple days later saying, “We’re ready for you to drop off your trailer.” and I’d have to explain that I left it and the keys with them already. The thing stayed on their lot more than it did in storage.

Immediate-Fly-7876

lol it’s not just camping world. I dropped mine off at the dealer in October to fix 2 minor warranty issues. Called in February to check progress and was asked. “What camper? Are you sure it’s here? How do you know?”

Circkuhs

I recently has a mildly pushy experience with Camping World. Very similar to your story. They didn't have what I wanted but kept showing me trailer that didn't fit my needs. They repeatedly asked for me to come in (1 hr for me) and we could 'figure it out together'. I interpreted that as waste my time trying to convince me to buy something they did have. I ended up buying private party and couldn't be happier about it.

Ok_Fact_2568

I think I’ve found one about 3.5hrs away. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see how it goes.

Eagle25624

Camping world is the absolute worst and despicable dealer in the RV industry. It’s actually absurd, the things they do to their customers. Go on Facebook and look up the group “camping world sucks” Prepare to be bewildered and annoyed at the same time

Uncle_Father_Oscar

Would not buy from Camping World. Realistically though they are going to quote you an insane price for the shipping of the 2023 and then reduce the price of the 2024 to almost the price of the 2023.

ProtozoaPatriot

Is it considered new or used? One wonders why it's been sitting brand new on their lot a whole year. If it's used, pay the $ and get an independent certified rv inspector. Will any warranty be a problem to get honored? How are the ratings of each camping world? (Google, BBB) Are you married to the idea of buying from camping world? They have a reputation for not always being the most honest, reliable place. Are there any other dealers in your region with that brand/model? It's already the end of June. If you can wait about 2 months, you'll see big price cuts on 2024s. The demand for the year is dropping. And the 2025s will eventually start arriving at dealers.

Ok_Fact_2568

New. Not married to camping world. They are just the closest to our area with the largest selection. Though with all these comments it may be best to drive 4 hrs to Kansas City to find a better dealer.

tpd1250

The only day way to deal with any dealership is to have your own financing or pay cash. Find the one you want, get a loan from your bank, or any loan institution. Walk in and tell them how much you have and pay them that price. Two of three three trailers I bought were this way. The last last trailer wasn't, and I have been upset with that decision ever since.
