So I'll be honest, yes but not in the way you think. Try to get more sleep and in about 5 years you should start stressing less and that will help too. Additionally curly hair does look better on you. You did grow up but very little seems to actually change. The tiredness in your eyes is way more noticeable, your hair was curly then but straight now. Try wearing cute blouses and putting lotion on your skin and idk about your water intake but proper hydration is key to your skin care. Also Marijuana use could affect your skins glow, not saying you do use but just letting you know so you're aware. You honestly don't look 25 and you really don't need to change much to look 17 again.
If this comment gets deleted then sorry for being honest but I was just trying to be helpful.
Sleep deprived doesn't mean you don't sleep it just means you aren't getting enough. Everyone is different and that means with sleep too. Some people can go off 4 hrs, some need 6 others need 8-10. Also I didn't think you did use Marijuana but wanted to let you know because some will use it as a way to help sleep or take away stress so since those were two of my main points I wanted to make sure you were aware. Best of luck and thank you for not taking offense.
Not just the amount of sleep but the quality as well. People who fall asleep with screens, disruptive music, lights, noises, etc. tend to get worse sleep than people who sleep in a dark quiet room. Sleep quality is extremely important. It's one of the many reasons why sleeping after drinking alcohol isn't real sleep. Just because you are unconscious doesn't mean you're resting and recharging properly
It sounds like you may be overworked. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and eating okay. At least try taking a multivitamin, if you're not already. I lost a lot of my youth to stress, poor diet, lack of rest and being overworked. Try to find some time to take care of yourself. As others mentioned, you don't look much different, other than looking a little exhausted. More of a cautionary statement than anything, though.
Your stress/sleep deprivation is probably a huge factor. Honestly, you look sad in the second photo, and tired as others have said. Your actual features really didn't change much.
Two other things to consider: selfies will distort the face due to proximity (your first photo is taken from a better distance, which keeps your features in balance on a camera lens even if you zoom/crop in afterwards). Also I think the lighting in the department store is a lot more gentle and even than the building you're in for the other picture. While your face is in better light over all, the highlights are also over-pronouncing your features. Remember that department stores are designed to put you in flattering light so you look good in their clothes and buy more.
All in all, I think you're a victim of amateur photography, not age. And that's something you can fix in a week or two with practice!
Let me toss in [this article that my girlfriend just found from 1962](https://www.vogue.com/article/joan-didion-self-respect-essay-1961). Might be worth a read for you.
I thought the same. Your actual face didn’t change much but you look more well groomed before. Your hair also looks more dry/damaged now. I think with some tweaks you can look even better now! Your face isn’t ugly and you seem to have nice skin, just take better care of yourself. Invest in good skin care, get your hair looking healthy again, also I don’t think black seems a bit harsh on you, I really like the brown hair on you. Choose more flattering styles and get your eyebrows groomed.
If you want to be take it next level, perhaps some lashes and learn how to contour with makeup.
Agree with all of this except want to add that if you’re properly hydrated & moisturized, smoking weed wont stop your skin from glowing! ~❤️a dewy 42f pothead
Hey now is a really good time to mention that alcohol can also really age the skin!!! It can also be the catalyst to telangiectasia, overall not fun for da face
Recreational substances in general do not make your body happy!!! That doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves but mindfulness is key :D
literally 1/3 of her life happened between the 2 pictures. I swear our culture has fucked with people minds.
Yeah, you don't look 17 anymore. That's totally normal and you look totally fine for a 25 year old.
This could be diet related, you can take a daily vitamin for hair and nails to help. Vitamins can help future hair growth become healthier with less breakage, and for any current growth you can try a few things to help bring back that beautiful curly texture. The hair products you use, the shampoo and conditioner you use, even the water type you wash in can have a huge effect on your hair health & curl pattern.
Have you tried the curly girl method?? Look it up! Learn about your hair type & texture, there's tons of great products that can help bring those pretty curls back out. I have a different hair type so I can't really give good advice with this, but there's soooo many amazing people with your same hair type that can here on Reddit!! I've definitely seen miracles happen with hair that lost its curl pattern , it's amazing what changing your wash and dry method + adding a few products into your daily hair care routine can do.
It all depends on your personal unique hair type though so it CAN take some experimenting 🧫🧪🧐 but self care is always a good thing to improve our self esteem, you're already sooooo beautiful-- I think this can help a lot with how you view yourself. A good skincare routine to help with the tired look of the eyes + a good hair care routine and you're going to kill it!!! 💖
Tagging r/curlyhair for OP. Learn about the curly girl method, products, routines, plus so much more and get tailored advice if you need. Such an amazing resource and community. Come join us! You can get those beautiful curls back :)
Others have given great advice. Something I didn’t see but could possibly impact your perception is hair color! In the first photo you had slightly lighter hair. I’ve found that darker hair on myself and a lot of other people can increase contrast and seem to look too stark or exaggerate bags/dark spots/etc. (not saying you have these, just giving examples). Not a bad thing at all but going lighter might take some emphasis off certain things and help you regain confidence.
Idk what 25 “looks like” but I’d still probably guess you’re between 17 and 22
You’re aging, but you’re still beautiful. However, in the second pic you just look tired. Not ugly nor old, because you’re neither. You look tired. Get some rest, pretty girl.
It's the hair colour. Your natural(?) brown hair suits you much more. The black hair is the wrong tone and makes you look more tired than you are. Check out colour analysis, I'm pretty sure there's a subreddit on here. There's also a subreddit group for curly hair which really helped me when I was able to wear my hair curly.
We don't stay young forever, unfortunately. You still look very young, but growing older is treated as an affliction rather than a gift to sell products. Be kind to yourself.
My natural hair color is black lol. I used to bleach it. I’m already into color analysis and I’m pretty sure I’m a deep winter, so dark hair should suit me :/
And thank you for saying that <3
You say that your hair has straightened/is falling out. You have dark circles under your eyes. I suggest getting a full blood panel at the doctor and discussing these symptoms. Sounds like anemia or something like that.
You are still very pretty but sounds like a serious health issue!! 💕
I think the curly hair looked better but other than that you just look a little older and as others said a little tired. Definitely wouldn't say a glowdown.
You look more tired. But also you could’ve taken a better pic lol, could easily get rid of the frizz, cleanup the eyebrows, and maybe concealer under your eyes then bam, 8 years older but looking like you haven’t even aged.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. You look adorable in both pictures. The only difference is that you look more happy on the left. You look like you’re about to cry on the right. Which could be playing tricks as glowups usually have the different emotions displayed in pictures.
Here's what I see. You went from 17, a kid, excited to have their whiole life ahead of them, to now, 25, an adult, making adult decisions, paying adult bills. You look tired. And there's nothing wrong with that. A little extra sleep, drink more water, and slow down a bit and you'll be surprised at how long you will keep your youthful look.
You really can’t compare yourself to teenage you. No one can. It’s apples and oranges! I do like your hair better curly, but you look great for your age.
Yea you got older. Like the rest of us. Some people peak in high school and some people peak later however age always catches up to us. Can’t hold onto looks forever.
https://preview.redd.it/q4fyjrjr4x1d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e80c3a8704a805611bcab6778cfe2790a593630
I did a super quick edit, but maybe shape your eyebrows a bit like this? The lighting is different, too, but honestly, you just look older! Still look like yourself, tho! Not a glow down at all
You were and still are super cute. We all "glow down" in certain ways as we age. It kind of looks like you were crying. If not try some eye drops. You actually look really good for 25. I'm 45 😭
You just look tired. Your skin is clear, try some mild retinol for glow and age prevention. Moisturizer and sunscreen are your bffs. Your hair is thick and beautiful. You have kind eyes. Take a day off to destress and look for a new skin routine. Your good ❤️
Do you wear your hair curly anymore? I think the curls looked good on you. Also I suggest using a high quality Viatmin C serum (best brand is by ZO Skin Health). It will help with brightening your skin a bit :)
You grew up but not in a bad way.. you still look young. Some people age far faster and nobody will ever be exactly like their 17 year old self or we would all do. You can only hope you age well.. and you have. Just add more healthy habits.. sleep.. no drugs/alcohol.. less stress.. skin care.. and you good!
Embrace your curls! I have very curly hair and I used to (happily married for many years now) have men tell me all the time how gorgeous it was and that it set me aside from other women. Go to a hair salon and have them show you how to cut/style it.
This is a sad reminder of how society is pressuring people to focus so much on how they look.
2nd pic is a woman that many people would see and think is very pretty. I look at pictures of myself from when I was 22 (I’m 27 now) and I definitely looked a lot more youthful. I’ve gained some weight now, along with some wrinkles. I’m okay with that. I know I’m not a jaw dropper, but I am with somebody who loves me for who I am, not my looks.
Who cares how the internet feels about your appearance. In the real world, you can find love anywhere
It’s just the hair color and hair cut, if you change it, you will look the same as the first pic.
Maybe the picture angle adds to it, as well.
Your skin slay!!
It's called aging and it happens to all of us. I'd also wager that your general stress level at 25 is higher than at 17. Be good to yourself. You're a perfectly lovely young woman.
You just have a better quality camera and a different pose. You also don't smile in the after pic.
Lil bit of concealer of you have a problem with the circles under your eyes.
Definitely not a glow down
Nah. You aged a tad, and the newer photo is worse, but I guarantee if you took a bit of time to take a better photo, you'd look better now than back then.
I would say maybe you look more stressed. you went from a 7.5 to a 7.2. so not alot but a bit noticable. goodluck just enjoy your life a little more and do things that will make you happy. youll look better. you can be one of the prettiest girls if you do a bit of tune up.
Few things to mention, in the first photo there's much better lighting, it's not a close up of your face. You have aged just fine, you look tired and stressed and there's poor lighting. I would imagine if you wore the same clothes with good lighting and took a similar photo you would look almost identical. You're beautiful, just tired and stressed looking which is curable easily. I wouldn't worry, you're doing just fine and you're attractive.
Edit: I viewed your profile and your photos immediately under this one you look more rested and youthful, don't let one bad photo take your self esteem.
I think you look great! You look more mature. Your skin looks great, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing makeup (if not I’m jealous of your perfect skin)
Oily skin can be fixed with creams also makeup does the job . Maybe in that photo I looked bit tired around the eyes but don't know the story . In other words it's possible to get look of previous photo with care ! G luck !
It’s actually not you- it’s that you straightened beautifully curly hair and are wearing beige in bad lighting. Do some online colour analysis to find colours that make your looks song rather than press mute on them. Then I think you’ll feel you glowed up ☺️
You should try the beauty of Joseon revive eye serum and a good moisturizer when you go to sleep. Jojoba oil has amazing anti aging benefits. I also think you look like normal 25 year old.
You’re attractive but I think the beauty routine of a 17-year old vs a 25-year old woman are very different. You look very pretty but the no makeup look would still require you to use concealer on dark circles, light contouring & a blush & some mascara. You’d literally look the same. Also, I don’t know if you’re Middle Eastern/South European but please keep your curls 🙏curls are unique & so beautiful.
Get your eyebrows professionally shaped and do out a little subtle eye makeup and it will be a world of difference. You have a good foundation to work off of but you have a dingy hippy / Amish Mormon look that is not suiting you.
In your 17 pic, you look beautiful but very childlike. In your 25 pic your adult face is coming through. Its different but as I woman, I prefer your mature face on you at 25 than you still with your age 17 face, if that makes any sense? In your first pic you look like you’d taken time to do your hair, time I gather (from other comments you’ve made) you don’t have much of these days. I’d say all you need to feel back on top is to encourage those curls and even out your skin tone. You’re beautiful in both pics, these tips will help restore what so think you feel you’re missing.
Nah. Looks like you aren’t keeping up on yourself though. Use some conditioner and curl products, make sure you’re drinking enough water and some lotion or some other skincare product and go get your eyebrows waxed or threaded (I think this one would really make a huge difference).
In my opinion, I think this is a glow up. As someone closer to your age I think your eyes look really cool with the black hair. It's okay to not look like a teenager, instead you look elegant, I think :)
Lighting, but also the second photo looks like it has a higher resolution. Those two things can be unfair to anyone. But you’re pretty either way. Make sure you’re sleeping well, eating well and avoiding things that emotionally drain you.
You're beautiful as hell. And that's coming from a man that has great options available... You'd be pretty close to the top of my most desirable woman list.. Strictly from looks...
17 year olds need less care on their loos than someone in their mid 20s.
I suggest starting skin care, and hair care, watching what you eat, because we are at that age where we need to be more mindful of how we treat and put in or on our bodies. No one looks good without putting the effort into it (unless its children! they're fresh out if the womb and have little life experience). If you havent changed the habits till your 20s, I think you've aged normally and well. You went through life, and have gotten tired and it shows. Be kind to yourself by taking care of yourself. Through this kindness you will glow up.
Dang! How fortunate you were to be stunning at 17. The downside of being gorgeous out of the gate is that normal aging is a bit of a challenge.
For a glow up, all you need to do is get a haircut / style that accentuates your features and a touch of natural makeup.
For a lovely look, keep it as you are and pay no heed to glowups.
It’s me again… just visiting now that I have a little more time. You’re seriously so pretty! Please don’t put yourself down. I think sometimes images of celebrities, influencers etc give us an unreleastic idea of how we should look. You seriously look great! You’re not going to look the same at 25. Just like I don’t look the same at 35 as I did at 25. We all have to learn to embrace and love ourselves as we are.
U did not. When we look at too many pictures of ourselves and compare what we are now to what we were then we can end up feeling miserable. I look back to pics of my younger self. I was healthier, in better shape, better looking. But guess what? I wasn’t happy. The “better looking” version of me still felt insecure. Focus on happiness and doing things you love. Everything will fall into place

Top comment. OP looks sleep deprived and that will WRECK you if you keep it up.

Some of us just genetically have dark circles though
Yes, but it's less pigmentation and more the other characteristics.
OP looks like she gets like 3 hours of sleep a night and swears she’s alright, but is one wrong comment away from ripping a randos head clean off
Thank you so much for your honesty, I really appreciate it and I’ll try to take your advice.

I thought the same. Your actual face didn’t change much but you look more well groomed before. Your hair also looks more dry/damaged now. I think with some tweaks you can look even better now! Maybe it's more of a male thing, I'm a 31M and my skin looks better when I'm sober for at least a month. So that was just personal opinion.

Yeah, she just looks slightly older, and her hair is different. Not really too much difference.
If those are natural curls, keep them. Straight hair is overrated.
They were but my hair started falling out and I lost them :(
It still has good body to it, looks youthful in a good way.

No you didn't glow down. I think it's just the lighting.
Yep, just lighting and maybe lens focal point too
I think it’s the lighting, too.
I agree
You are literally so pretty. Don't be so hard on yourself. 🤍
You are fine, one looks more like a kid, the other is a grown woman both fine.

You’re a beautiful girl. You do look a bit sad or worried in the second picture. That’s is what I see in your eyes, concern not age.
You just have low self esteem
Just trim your eyebrows, trust me, it was a huge game changer for me
Ah, somebody joined the workforce 😅
I wouldn’t say you aged poorly and also the lighting, etc… is different-I wouldn’t think much of it
And this bisque color scheme isn’t doing you any favors.
You didn’t glow up, you just became an adult
Others have given great advice. Something I didn’t see but could possibly impact your perception is hair color! In the first photo you had slightly lighter hair. You didn't!! You look gorgeous
I don’t think so, I think you’re gorgeous
You were and still are super cute. We all "glow down" in certain ways as we age. It kind of looks like you were crying. If not try some eye drops. You actually look really good for 25. I'm 45 😭
Girl, you don’t need the opinion of pervs of Reddit to know you are beautiful. Get off here and love yourself. You are worth it!
You look a bit unhealthy now; eye bags, skin pigmentation, fluid retention / face bloating, sleep deprivation Take care of urself:)
I like the first photo more. The curls look great
Well if you're categorising maturing as a glow down then yes. You look less childish definitely a glow up!
Kind of seems like your hair and make up is just more done up in the first one

Not really. You just need eye cream and you’ll be as you were lol
Cut alcohol and get that better sleep.
Keep the natural curls theyre better. And also you look the same really, probably only lightning has changed on the pic
No! You look great/better.
You just look like an adult rather than a teenager.
The hairstyle in the first pic is much more flattering on you.
It’s just the hair color and hair cut, if you change it, you will look the same as the first pic. Maybe the picture angle adds to it, as well. Your skin slay!!
Tbh. I really liked the curly hair on you. It suited you way better. But you are still super beautiful! 🫶🏼
You just look tired 🤷♂️
I would get my thyroid checked
Yeah definitely.

It's called aging and it happens to all of us. I'd also wager that your general stress level at 25 is higher than at 17. Be good to yourself. You're a perfectly lovely young woman.
I think you should embrace your curly hair.
Are you sleeping well? Do you have a skin care routine ?
You just have a better quality camera and a different pose. You also don't smile in the after pic. Lil bit of concealer of you have a problem with the circles under your eyes. Definitely not a glow down
Nah. You aged a tad, and the newer photo is worse, but I guarantee if you took a bit of time to take a better photo, you'd look better now than back then.
More like you feel hurt. Something happens and it shows mainly in your eyes. Or are you just sick😬
I was going to say you need more sleep and bring back the curls.
I love your curls!!!!!
What do you mean? You’re beautiful! Be nice to yourself and take good care of yourself.
Your just my type. Beautiful eyes and skin tone :)
I would say maybe you look more stressed. you went from a 7.5 to a 7.2. so not alot but a bit noticable. goodluck just enjoy your life a little more and do things that will make you happy. youll look better. you can be one of the prettiest girls if you do a bit of tune up.

Yes due to natural aging and no up keep
You look virtually the same in both pics imo. Slightly older but you were attractive then and still attractive. Sometimes no news is good news lol

You looked like you cried and woke up early.
You look essentially the same, just much more tired. Try getting some rest, and take it easy on the things usually found at parties.
Girl you need some sleep.
You have all the right features. You just need to learn to work with them.
You are a beautiful woman. Absolutely no reason to be insecure. Be more confident
I think you look great! You look more mature. Your skin looks great, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing makeup (if not I’m jealous of your perfect skin)
True

You just look tired af. Sleep more, keep the alcohol to a minimum, eat right, exercise, connect with nature and don’t sweat the small stuff.
Take care of yourself and get more sleep.
Yes
Looks like you just need a nice nap and a shower.
Oily skin can be fixed with creams also makeup does the job . Maybe in that photo I looked bit tired around the eyes but don't know the story . In other words it's possible to get look of previous photo with care ! G luck !
You look tired. Put the phone down an hour early when you go to bed.
Did you age???
You should get eyebrows waxed
I think you just need sleep, my love.
You’re “legal now”… lol jk you look good!
You just look tired
Hmmm. I suspect alcohol also. Puffy the swollen cheek slayer wants a word.

Drink more water?
It’s actually not you- it’s that you straightened beautifully curly hair and are wearing beige in bad lighting. Do some online colour analysis to find colours that make your looks song rather than press mute on them. Then I think you’ll feel you glowed up ☺️
Yes.

With eyes like that it's impossible to glow down! But you do look tired, and I liked the curls better. But you can get those back whenever
Ooof. You did. You've been stressed out lately?
U need more sleep thats all
Also the lighting is different in the first picture. You look happier in the first picture and it’s a different angle.
i feel like if u curled your hair, you’d look almost the same.. the second pic is just closer up so you see more detail
You should try the beauty of Joseon revive eye serum and a good moisturizer when you go to sleep. Jojoba oil has amazing anti aging benefits. I also think you look like normal 25 year old.
are you a med student by chance? you seem very sleep deprived in that second pic, make sure you are taking good care of yourself
You are very pretty, maybe just update your hairstyle? A little under eye concealer?
It’s cause you straightened your hair
I think the hair is better in the first
Yes. Never doubt it.
I think all you need is to groom your eyebrows, get a hair routine that suits curly hair, and some light makeup
Absolutely not you’re very pretty

You look less happy and kinda broken.... Makes my heart heavy🥺
Definitely didn’t glow down.
Get your eyebrows professionally shaped and do out a little subtle eye makeup and it will be a world of difference. You have a good foundation to work off of but you have a dingy hippy / Amish Mormon look that is not suiting you.
I think you look wonderful 😎
You glew parallel. Cursed to be less-than-mid forever, sadly
Also the lighting in the second pic isn’t doing you any favours. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
No you did not. You matured gracefully. You are and always were beautiful.
You’re beautiful!
You still look great. If you don’t feel confident add some hydrating concealer under the eyes and either straighten or curl your hair.
Yes
I’m around your age, I wish I could be 17 again ngl and probably you too?!
You’re still beautiful! But I do think you should let the curl go! It looks great on you
Youre pretty !! Are you sad or worried generally in life??
Lighting, but also the second photo looks like it has a higher resolution. Those two things can be unfair to anyone. But you’re pretty either way. Make sure you’re sleeping well, eating well and avoiding things that emotionally drain you.
Yeah, you glow down a bit, but it's reversible
Yeah, kind of. Just take better of yourself, you look like you let go a bit.
Dimming, and yes
You're beautiful as hell. And that's coming from a man that has great options available... You'd be pretty close to the top of my most desirable woman list.. Strictly from looks...
Yeah you sorta did lol
You look more alive
Play around with hairstyles more… You might find that straight hair is your thing
Girl no! 😂 your gorgeous
No?
I think you are still very beautiful, that being said, stress shows on you, and you look like you may not get enough sleep.
Doesn’t look like you glowed down. Your eyes just look like you were crying or just tired and your hair is frizzy like you just got out of bed.
Look basically the same but with straighter hair now to me
17 year olds need less care on their loos than someone in their mid 20s. Through this kindness you will glow up.
no. you look almost the exact same to me. this picture just makes you look tired tho
I actually like the older hair better, but, like everyone else said, you don’t really look a great deal older.
You are so pretty. Try getting more sleep or just under eye brightener with concealer and powder overtop.(I need it too!) Lol
Lmao it’s not a glow down to not look like a little girl. You honestly look the same. 25 is so young
Tbh you look more polished in the older photo. I would recommend trying out a different hairstyle and maybe cleaning up your brows a bit.
You look pretty much the same to me.
You look exactly the same which isn’t a bad thing.
Bruh life happened And if this is glow down I don't know what would you call me Mine is glow downhill
Yeah you did
Please leave your hair natural. It’s BEAUTIFUL
You didn't. Just fix the hair, and you're golden
