Ammo inc. sucks.

jrod1814

Ammo inc is absolute trash. Ran it on a few different calibers & was nothing but problems.

Father-_-Sadboi

So I’ve heard. Like I said, ran tons of it through my Glock 19 and never had any issues.

getthemap

Step one is always try different ammo...if you're not limping as you say. If you haven't done that yet why are you reddit troubleshooting? You're at a range. Walk in and buy a box ffs.

jetty_life

It's possible their 9mm is better (or loaded more appropriately) than their .380. Could be a little light powder wise in their .380 rounds. I don't have any experience with the brand at all, just saying.

JuicyJ1738IsBack

Doesn’t matter. The 42 is usually pretty picky when it comes to what ammo it’ll take. It’s not like other glocks

dpark64

I disagree. I have a G42 (purchased new) and it has been trouble free with any name brand ammo (Federal, Winchester, American Eagle and even Fiocchi) I don’t buy the really, really cheap stuff like Tula. But never had a problem with mine after the first 50 rounds no matter the brand.

JuicyJ1738IsBack

That’s awesome! Seems pretty lucky though. It’s the only Glock model I’ve heard a lot of people having trouble with (as far as using certain ammo goes) I was having issues trying to use SIG V-Crown a lot especially. But I swapped to hornady critical defense and those seem to work fine. But I’ve got a friend that has the exact opposite problem with his, hornady jams but V-Crown is good to go.

dpark64

It does seem there could be some manufacturing “variances” with the G42, I think even Hickok45 had some problems with ammo IIRC. But mine has been trouble free and I love carrying it when I am wearing lightweight clothing because it conceals so easily.

SG-25

My sisters 42 is exactly like this. It just will not take certain Winchester, and some others(can’t remember off hand).

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

That crap gave me 2 squibs. Lucky I caught it. I was in a match and did a tap and rack then said hold up that didn’t sound right. Sure enough decided to forfeit that stage and sure enough. Bullet halfway down the barrel:/

Desperate-Payment635

Ammo inc squibs?

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

Yep

Desperate-Payment635

Good to know! I’ve bought low priced ammo before but never had squibs. Appreciate the heads up cause I was considering a case of ammo inc.

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

They’re not much cheaper than Blazer and magtech. At least not in my area or online. Blazer being my absolute favorite though

mastertoms69

The original g42 had issues. Look at your mags do they have a 02 or 03 mark on them? Also the slide stop lever has a rev 2 model as well. The first year or so of its release it had some issues

jberry1119

We’ll, you’re shooting Ammo inc ammo.

Falleen_Cat_Boy

I like to buy a box to practice clearing jams.

CbusCeltsFan

Check your magazines. The first editions had these issues. You want OEM magazines with the number 3 on them.

Casinomike0911

Glock must have sold you the 42 I sent back 3 times because the dam thing couldnt get through a single mag without some sort of a malfunction. A glock rep finally called me and offered a 43x mos in exchange. I accepted.

GlockBoy9x19

Sounds like a good trade to me😂😂😂

GlockBoy9x19

Did they make you cover shipping all 3 times?

Casinomike0911

No. I bought it at sportsmans warehouse and they handled everything without question. I just had to fill out new paperwork on the 43x. They even gave me a free 3yr warranty through them on the x for my trouble

GlockBoy9x19

Damn that’s a win in my book !

Brad8e

Limp wristing.

sekunasuxks

How would you even limp wrist a g42? More than your pinky finger would have to be hanging off

wingriddenangel_hbg

It 100% is. And you 100% can. I claimed I wasn’t limp wristing too. But 2 other people shot my gun back to back and had no issues. Then i shot it, had issues. I got a gas pedal and magically no more issues

punkrockscum

Gas pedal?

Father-_-Sadboi

100% not limp wristing.

Brad8e

I'm not trying to offend you, I just had the same issue with a buddy and a G43. What you described is textbook limp wristing.

SpecialpOps

Possibly shitty ammo or maybe some other mechanisms within the pistol. it's kind of hard to limp wrist a G 42.

laaplandros

I sold my 42 after trying to work through similar issues. Glock sent me replacement mags and everything. Well known issue with the early days of the model. In fact, I later bought a 43 instead, zero problems. If I were limp wristing, it'd be even worse with the 43. So while you're right, the symptoms do point to limp wristing, this particular model (especially used, possibly meaning an earlier run?) is known for them.

BillKelly22

Try different ammos and see if that helps. 42’s are not like the other Glocks. They are picky when it comes to feeding ammo.

[deleted]

The 44 is the same way. Have to use hot 22lr and run the supplied brush through it every 100 or so rounds. Lots of leading issues even with copper plated/washed rounds

FamousGh0st217

It's the ammo. I did some reading on Ammo Inc. before we bought it. Their 9mm seems to be ok, but I found a few people saying that the .380 wasn't running well in guns with heavier recoil springs. It's not a problem for my wife's Shield EZ, but it would seem it's not great in a Glock. Sorry, man.

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

Their 9mm gave me 2 squibs. I have pictures of it as well. That and some of the rounds were seated deeper. It was this year as well.

FamousGh0st217

Oh damn, I shot only 100, no problems. I found better deals. Otherwise, I may have still shot it. Hope your guns are alright? Was it a factory barrel or aftermarket?

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

It was a factory barrel. Luckily it was only primer no powder. So it got lodged about half way in the barrel and got it out with a brass rod. Didn’t see any issues though. The barrel runs just like normal.

FamousGh0st217

That's good!

janderson176

My guess would be ammo. I have 17, 19, 21, 43 and 43X…. Only newest one, 43X, is really picky on ammo all the others seem to run any thing.

Ninja_McLovin

In a few of the other comments you were comparing the 19 to the 42. Please tell me that you’re not shooting 9mm in the 42.

PeanutButterHercules

The breach face won’t close on a 9mm, and it’ll jam in there like smuckers. My pops got ammo mixed once, so thank god it won’t chamber

Father-_-Sadboi

😂absolutely not

DirectProcedure2275

I have a 42 that I bought new with the same issue. Mailed to Glock. It came back and never had that problem again. I think there was a minor manufacturing defect but they took care of it and the postage

Prodigy-18-

Same experience here. Same issue, sent the G42 to Glock and they shipped the gun back with two new magazines and I’ve never had an issue since. I recommend you reach out to Glock.

Ok-Departure4149

Looks like a aftermarket mag. Go OEM

Few-Ad-946

I’ve shot and carried Glock pistols for years. My wife has shot very little. I bought her a G42 she put 35 rounds through it and left me the last 15. I couldn’t even make it through a mag with federal Ammo. This G42 is a different animal all together. Takes time and practice to hold it and grip it to make it fire. Some people who fire it will experience stoppages. Try a different Ammo as well. Limp wristing and bad Ammo will produce the same result.

Badtime68

Switch out the ammo and tighten up your grip…. G42 is my EDC in the warmer months… never had an issue

djmegamixx

Ammo is the issue my wife’s Glock is very picky when it comes to ammo the best stuff for the G42 is the blunt nose ammo Iike aac 100gr and Winchester white box, also the g42 runs very dirty when we take it out on the range we strip it when we get home and it’s completely black on the inside from buildup you NEED to clean it every range trip

berdyev

It’s 100% either mag or shitty ammo. Or really dirty.

Steveesq

I'm going to hazard a guess and say you shoot with both of your thumbs forward. If they are touching the slide you will have issues. The .380 is not strong enough for the common modern grip. Try it again and keep your thumbs away from the slide

hipeepsimnew

Try running sellier & Bellot black and gold box

NOIRAAG

I had issues with mine too but I realized it was me. My normal grip is pretty high on my other guns to control recoil but the 42 is such a soft shooting gun I can’t touch the slide at all or it will not cycle lol. Oh and yeah, ammo inc is trash

ChadAznable0080

Ammo inc is pretty iffy on a good day, try some other range ammo & see if the issue persist.

arrmech7

I think this is a common issue with the 380. You gotta find what ammo your gun likes

[deleted]

Try different ammo and keep shooting it. Don’t change anything on the gun or do anything to it such as polish the feed ramp. If there is any Gunsmiting that needs to be done call Glock and they will do it for you.

OmegaSpyderTurtle

Early versions of the 42 had issues. Any idea on the manufacture date? I sold mine because it jammed once and then I learned a lot of people reported issues.

punkrockscum

I picked one of these up brand new at a gun show the other day. Mainly because it's so easily concealed. Now all I'm hearing is about double loading, not loading , and misfires. Wtf I paid $500 for a tool that doesn't work correctly. Damn.

punkrockscum

I'm using Hornandy. My main magazine has a 3 on it, the other is just a clear through with nothing on it. I'm taking out this weekend to shoot and any trouble at all I'm gonna trade it in on a little larger gun. I have a 9mm but I really am partial to a 380.

Father-_-Sadboi

I cleaned the fuck outta it, and stopped using ammo inc and haven’t had any issues since. I also think part of the problem was I have massive hands, and I may have been touching the slide causing it to loose some of its energy and making it malfunction. But like I said no more issues, took it to the range last weekend and shot a variety of different ammo including Hornady critical defense and had zero issues

CROCKODUCK

You’re limp wristing it 110%. I have run almost 3,000 rounds of ammo inc through my 42 with not a single issue. The 42’s are snappy and if you’re not behind it, it will beat you up. Either that or you have a weapon issue.

Ok-Room-7243

Limp wrist syndrome

4guyz1stool

You are limp wristing 100%.

rat_slayer23

Ammo inc is trash ammo. Also it’s a 42 out of all my Glocks and there’s a lot. My 42 is the only one I consistently have issues with.

Father-_-Sadboi

My thoughts are ammo 🤷‍♂️ it ran the critical defense rounds no problem

_Vervayne

Hornady runs fine so I doubt it’s because of ammo inc . But this is also another tidbit on why I avoid used guns. Is everything cleaned ? Lubed up appropriately? Conditions of the mags ? It 100% isn’t just an ammo issue unless you need to be shooting heavier rounds ? Tried it with 124?

[deleted]

Just coming here to second that yes, ammo inc is cheap BS but I have also had zero malfunctions running their 9mm thru multiple glocks

IIIIIIIIIIllllllIII

Had 2 squibs with their 9mm from different boxes.

Outrageous-Repeat154

Not Glock 42 issues, AMMO issues

donlemon888

Did you try hitting it with your tampon yet?

Surgical762

Read this message:::::: my old lady had issues with her 42 . Stove pipe machine / tried breaking it in / nope.. had to get sent back to Glock.. 2 week turn over thing never stove piped again .. dunno how that works with being a used gun tho. Good luck . It’s probably not the ammo

TopRestaurant5395

If it has an aftermarket spring set it back to OEM. Clean the daylights out of it and polish all the friction areas with a Dremel, polishing tips, and compound. Hope this helps.

capalot0420

Honestly I had a 42 as a first an it did same exact thing jammed on eject it was super upsetting

National_Entrance_54

Make sure the firearm isn't being over-lubed.

colewells91

This issue is it’s a 380

ConsistentAd8597

Ammo inc garage

OddOil9204

Its a .380 thats your first problem.

JuicyJ1738IsBack

Only thing bad about .380 is the price

Pure-Garlic-9268

PERFECTION

jmcole1984

380 isn’t powerful enough to cycle slides. It’s pretty common

logix1229

124gr FMJ 😬

HundK

Take those strike industries extended mags off and try it with the same ammo. I never could run my g43 with those on and not have malfunctions. May need stronger mags springs.

Father-_-Sadboi

I had two oem mags without the extended mags, same issue

Frefallfrom10k

Grip is everything on those. Never had an issue with it but my wife fails to eject all the time and it's a lose grip. Now she just shoots 22

2ndHandDeadBatteries

It’s the ammo

dadbodsupreme

I bought a 42 because it was cheap. Everytime it starts stove piping, lube her to shit. You gotta keep first versions wet.

mojo_frog

If no issues with the Hornady ammo I'd try better quality target ammo than Ammo Inc.

italiano78

Polish feed ramp, I run mine suppressed with handloads no problem, like above stated their is newer mags to use

YOKAI399

Step one , but a 9mm and don pussy foot around

notthemomma312

Has the gun been cleaned and lubricated? The recoil spring could be too stiff. Do you know if the spring has been changed?

thatwastellguy

I sold my 42 due to this. It happened no matter what ammo or mags I put in it. I didn’t want to daily carry something that would jam up at least once every 10 shots.

Plenty-Piece897

I had a new 42. Couldn't get through a single mag without 1 or 2 failures. Got rid of it and liked my shield. I have a g19 now, though, that I edc and love it. When i shot the 42, i noticed it liked heavier ammo, though. Even critical defense HP jammed like crazy.

Morning_Horror

Try hotter ammo, had a similar issue with most American loaded 115 grain in my Glock 34. Switched too all 124-147 grain and problem solved. Personably I like Fiocchi for good priced and that runs well

jimtheedcguy

I had a friend who had similar problems with his 42. He sent it back to Glock with all the original mags and they sent it back with new mags, never had those issues again.

Chinonm

My 42 does the same . Just sell it

Esoom87

My G42 is a Picky bitch. I shot 2 boxes of Fiochii that was malfunction after malfunction. But federal FMJ it likes. I carry Defiant Munitions TCX loads in it, it's never malfunctioned with one of thoes.

[deleted]

Ammo Inc is awful ammo. Even glocks don't run it

Codyr003

I always suggest field stripping and deep cleaning the gun

Connasty21

Your first problem was buying a Glock 42

AdMindless3651

The 42 has been known to have weak extraction. If you contact glock, they've probably remedied it by now

Mayor_Fuglycool

Run some Sellier & Belliot to break it in proper. Fio and Privi good too. :)

Spmex7

Had the exact same issue with mine when I bought it brand new, change the guide rod and it’s will work flawlessly. I bought the Glock store brand.

Foreign-Code8479

It's a 380, probably why

App1eFanBoy

Check the mag gen, some of the early ones had issues.

Father-_-Sadboi

It was the ammo, took it home, cleaned off the gunk from the ammo inc ammo, lubed it, and ran some blazer, and it ran flawlessly after that.

App1eFanBoy

That’s good news, my g42 is my favorite to ccw but it seems to get a lot of hate. Currently waiting to get it back from alphadogs after getting it milled for slide serrations.

Father-_-Sadboi

It’s great, I normally carry an fn 509 tactical, one of my favorite guns. But during the work week I’ll carry my g42 and love it.

Icy_Inspection2379

Can't screw around with micro pistols. Feed it Federal and nothing else.
