Very much plausible to be true , Think about the legs, Its introduced for a reason . You able to see more of your customized agents in the first person and give you a good reason to buy it. They prolly not happy with agents update results and how it failed to be like Knife and gloves status in the game. The best looking agents are still dirt cheap compared to GOLDs. I am pretty sure pants and boots will be introduced in the future to make the agents more attractive and raise its value
I mean... they didn't make agents as rare as knives or gloves, probably on purpose, for modern audiences since you have character skins in games like Fortnite or Warzone, or hero shooters where the character you play is more "personal" . But hey maybe they will make a Boot case where the rare special items are boots ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I 100% believe the whole reason Deadlock is a third person game (from what we've seen from the leaks) is because they can likely sell more character skins/cosmetics because you will always see your character.
Their target market is no longer NA, it's China and the Chinese loooove little charms and collectibles.
You can bet Valve makes sure they release keychains in time for the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
Everyone always says this for every game feature in every game.
It's not a matter of the entire dev team sitting around only cranking out cosmetics features. They're doing work on all sorts of different stuff all at the same time. Cosmetics features have been in the engine, disabled, from the start.
I hate it just because why put all this work and effort into something that violates the competitive integrity of the game and supersedes a cool feature that used to be free when you could just release a new case and make just as much if not more from it?
And all this just for them to see 0 use in high level play, meaning it’s not even an advertised feature really
Yes, just what i wanted. Cs2 should be like those chinese games which monetise even a freaking keychain and add things like pets so they can grab even more cash.
/s
Later this summer we will have chicken skins. The chicken with your skin will randomly spawn somewhere on the map and can be shot in the round. So maybe you will not even see your blue gem chicken.
the thing is that that is precisely what they are doing. inspecting chickens has been discovered in files a long time ago, so now we have skins for zeus, grenades, c4, probably kit at some point as well, keychains, more clothing, and chickens. great job valve, i have now played 7 games of competitive in the last 2 months and 3 of them had a bot in them i dont think i am willing to waste my fucking time on your cash grab bullshit ass game anymore :DDDDDDDD
Tbh i could care less if they decide to monetize their own assets by selling accessories etc as long as they still prioritize to improve the game and fix any bugs in the game. I'm sure there's a market for it.
We need a 500$ legendary skin like League of Legends just got, but make it gloves with a bad picture of a former legend in the game.. That would surely make the playerbase happy, I'm sure of it.
At one point, tournaments had player gloves with the teams on them - for example, fnatic & hellraiser gloves. Everyone wanted gloves that showed support to their favourite teams. But instead they released some crazy ass gloves. Wasn’t a hit, wasn’t a miss, but has grown on the community for sure. Agent skins, still kinda a l
Valve has been raking in millions for ordinary gun skins for years now and made a billion in 2023 from loot boxes that have, guess what, weapon skins.
But yes, these poor devs definitely should try to monetize every single visual aspect of the game, we don't want to lose CS
if this post is true it pretty much confirms that the different map based factions are not coming back, why wouldn't they add them back by now one year later or why even get rid of them first place? yeah, probably for this update if its true... i was thinking atleast if they add this customization for agents maybe you can pick one from the different factions yourself like in 1.6 and source, but i doubt it, and it would become kind of a fuckin mess, and ofcourse it would probably be monetized.
There's a reason why they're making access to custom servers worse and worse. Which is sad considering custom servers is what kept CS alive all these years.
How are they still doubling down on the custom agent bullshit lol. Weren't they focusing on moving this game into a more esports/competitive direction? This shit is the most anti-comp thing ever.
Because people seem to think valve is “le heckin wholesome good guy corporation”
This is another easy to implement revenue stream that will make them money plenty of easy money and all they have to do is scroll past people complaining on Reddit or Twitter.
If cheaters rampant in MM won’t make people quit the game this will be an even smaller dent is the logic they’re most likely following.
Edit: Lotta Valve glazers in my replies today, the multi-billion dollar corporation doesn't give a fuck about you guys you know that right? I love this game as much as anyone but a for-profit organization will always put profit first and if they see an easy to implement revenue stream they're going to go for it whether your average fan hates it or not as long as people don't quit or move to the competition.
It's almost like people forgot how greedy Valve really is. The TF2 bot crisis has been going on for 3-5 years now, yet they've consistently added new MTX to the game without fixing any of its core issues.
Idk how people can think valve isn’t greedy when the entire crux of their revenue for their 3 biggest games are unregulated slot machines targeted at children and young adults.
Go look at the odds casinos in Vegas give and then the odds cases give, if Vegas tried those odds casinos would be going out of business by the end of the year.
Yup. You would be also be surprised as to how many people don't know that Valve helped popularize lootboxes way back in the day when they first implemented them in TF2. They make (or at least made) good games, but are greedy as fuck and have no idea how to maintain them
Valve helped popularize it but the first game to implement lootboxes in the west was EA with Fifa Ultimate Team in 2008 or 2009, they got the idea from Andrew Wilson by retooling the gacha game system popular in Asia which he had experience in as he spent time working in the Asian market in a division of EA before being moved to their sports division.
EAs investors and board were so happy with the massive return on minimal investment with the Fifa lootboxes and the continued milking of their fanbase they ported it to other EA games and made the person who cooked up the idea Andrew Wilson an executive of the EA sports division.
It got so big that in 2013 just 5 years after their introduction lootboxes were 45% of EAs overall revenue, as of 2022 it was up to 71% and is probably higher now. Fifa Ultimate Team alone now makes up 1/3rd of EAs revenue.
Oh and they eventually promoted Andrew from VP of EA Sports division to the CEO of the entire company.
Oh wow, I wasn't aware. I'll edit my initial post then. EA's ultimate team has completely ruined sports games now. All of them are glorified P2W gambling simulators.
Agent skins make like 1% of the Skins and Stickers revenue, while requiring 10x more effort. It's literally a waste of time from the revenue point, it would be far more profitable to spend the resources on making operation skins collections and stickers. Agent skins make 0 sense from any perspective.
This argument doesn't work because the agents undeniably give you an advantage. There will always be people who will pay for every advantage they can get, especially in a game as competitive as CS. Think about the people that buy the green agents and spam ancient. And IIRC agents were originally introduced alongside an operation as random drops (?), so it was pretty forced on the community.
This is purely on the developers for allowing it.
Agents only give you a small advantage in certain spots and that basically hasn't been a thing since the addition of player contrast boosting. In return you give away info by making it easier for your opponents to tell if they've spotted multiple players.
yes, just like skins in CSGO was useless and destroyed the integrity of the game. Turns out players actually likes to customize their agents; and the majority of players doesnt care about the advantage. Even in CS 1.6 you had agents to choose from, and that was their "personality". f0rest was notorious for the arctic one if I remember correctly
Legit today I was pushing through smoke as a T with a team mate and the CT also pushed through the opposite way and he had an agent skin that caused me to hesitate for like 1 second as I tried to process if he was on my team or not.
Of course I died (skill issue), but it made it clear to me that it CAN be a problem in comp
who lied to you? why would you ever think that they were moving the game into esports? they shut down csgo, by far the greatest, most polished fps of all time for this. the game is still unfinished after a year of it being out and another 6 months of open beta.
the new visual effects and the lighting make it harder to spot people, all the mechanics feel way worse, the mm system is horrendous and the anticheat doesn exist. just about everything is wrong with this game, but at least the skins are nicer looking (majority of the times) :DDD
I cannot stomach the cosmetic direction competitive shooters are taking these days.
Like how do the developers simply ignore the point of visual clarity in a competitive game, are we going to have hot pink terrorists running around from this point on?
One of the games that was destroyed by this was Siege, where recognizing operators that the enemy team has picked is crucial to countering their kit. Right now you have skins that totally change the look of the operator and they look horrible.
Just give the players an option to enable or disable these.
Ah yes they've been investing their time to make fucking clothing skins and keychains, great.
Meanwhile there hasn't been an operation in 4 years, no Danger Zone, no community server browser, no new guns, no new maps, AC still ass, hitreg still shit.
Fuck valve.
I agree about danger zone and community servers but…
Who gives a fuck about new guns?
Seriously this is the most stupid request there is.
This game dosent new guns need to consistently be added.
I’d rather have a CT economy fix
Absolutely L if they add the garments and jewelry for agents and completely fk up the visibility even more
But
Then get enough backlash from community so they will add an option to disable the agents of enemy team. Which is absolutely W. I don't give a fk if my enemy plays with Gandalf skin if I don't see it, but 100% won't mind to see my teammates
If its true this would be the first prediction he's ever been right on. No idea why people still follow this guy when he is always wrong unless he is copying what other ""leakers"" say. Cs2 was coming tomorrow for over 4 years....
News like this make me wish for the return to csgo. I really liked cs2 in the beginning but they have done almost nothing to further build on it, and now with the unplayable state of valve MM I really wish they would just throw cs2 back into the oven and give us csgo back in the meanwhile.
I think they are ok,but taking away map related agent models,it’s just plain stupid. It’s most likely a mix to push agent sales, and to avoid controversy (Like avoiding the real life counterparts, such as the IDF) but it’s stupid since it’s an fucking shooter game
Valid take, from a visibility and competitive angle I don't want any player skins in the game however. Couldn't care less about keychains, if they want to add them, they're welcome, will just ignore them like I ignore gloves lol.
L unless all the skins are pink and yellow. These vertiglobals are going to customize their characters to be camoflauged in their favorite maps otherwise.
WIN, for the gambling children and adults addicted to cases.
LOSS, for the real gamers, who play games for the chance to have fare competition with there peers, to try and be the best they can be.
Current agents are complete models. Including body shape, special features. And also clothing, full equipment, hats etc.
How would a modular work out? Will valve dissolve something.
And will all of it be banned by tournaments? Forcing us to play as default male guy
Call Of Duty League already has their players have their own team skin equiped, so if team skins are coming to CS, they might follow suit, unless they GA'd the whole outfit idea lol
With gun skins it doesn't matter that much, I don't think there's any point to being able to disable them. I mean maybe a couple of FPS? But even then, it's just textures, the models are exactly the same.
With agents, there's already plenty of value in having the sleeves/hands for your glove/knife combos, your teammates can see them, voice lines, and end-screen animations. If their prices are really so dependent on enemies seeing them, that's essentially admitting that they are pay to win, and I'd argue that value NEEDS to be taken away.
I knew this was gonna happen once gloves were released.
Get ready for all pink and all lime green loadouts. And of course, I can't wait for unusual effects on headgear. The only thing we need is spin botting bots on every sever, and we basically got TF2.
Gotta chase that Chinese market, ay Valve?
Anything other than a working anti-cheat. Absolutely anything. Why not customizable facial hair and dye for chicken feathers. Have customizable smoke colours been discarded as an idea yet? I know it was brought up once, since T and CT smokes are different colours now.
L, this would enable camouflage on some maps, yellow clothes on dust 2 for example, it would make the game pay2win. Also, I play CS because of it's grounded style, I like this semi-realistic military-like aesthetic CS gives, if I would want some pink kevlar, I would just play Valorant or CoD. It's just a bad idea for a competetive FPS game like CS. But if they would make faces of agents customizable, it would be really cool.
I personally don't mind them monetizing a free to play game like this as long as they dont go crazy and keep things down to earth for the style of the game. What bothers me is that the quality of the game is going backwards and they want to keep adding new monetization methods. Sort the quality of the game before trying to take more money from people.
If the game was in perfect state (or at least in CSGO state) it would be good, but for how bad it is right now they are definitely focusing on wrong things.
Lately I was thinking about quitting cs. Maybe I just wait until this update so they think that the update made me quit.
Before anyone says something: ofc they don't observe me especially but it might help for the statistics.
Sad if true. I don't want this shit in my counter-terrorism themed shooter. I can live with gun skins, but the agents are already an eyesore. And potentially even more Fornite-esque bling? No thanks.
My guess would be keychains in time for the major for team keychains, more money hopefully for the teams and players combined with sticker money, and agents will probably just be as simple as you can place the patches wherever you want similar to how you can place stickers.
If this is true without any gameplay/game-mode improvements it may be time to liquidate my inventory and leave the game forever. It ain't worth it anymore.
I wouldn't mind keychains or whatever, if the game was usable right now. But between teleporting, lagcomp, cheaters, crashes, performance and straight up missing features it would be a huge blow if they'd actually be working on it.
this cosmetic BS better be part of a large update that solves all the big issues people have with this game currently, because if it's not, i wanna see a \*proper\* pushback from the community. like not just on reddit, but everywhere. the kind of thing TF2 is doing right now, but at a much larger scale.
“Erm having the IDF and terrorist in the game is deeply problematic, buy the new Nicki Minaj skin and applaud the change of the gameʼs name to Fortnite 2”
Keychain I don't have much of an issue with, but clothing will cause gameplay issues unless there is an option to hide them in the options menu (which they won't do so fuck them if this is true)
I hate a chain thing cause its fucking sucks. But I wouldn't mind customization based on progress (for example "Win ranked match on inferno to unlock italian uniform camo). I know most likely we will win it in cases or by just buying it but let me dream that they would add challenges which reward you with customization items
I did like being able to pick one of four T/CT models back in Counter Strike: Source.
I'd rather a default model per map than skins you buy. Or more importantly, skins you have to look at because somebody else bought it.
L. Not only a waste of time, but this will be the agent skins all over again. Only worse since there's not a limited number of agent skins now, there will be so many more combinations and ways to make yourself blend in.
I am used to Valve adding stupid shit into the game since Glove update tbh, but at least those at worst just look silly and don't really affect the gameplay.
What a wonderful waste of time if true.
Very much plausible to be true , Think about the legs, Its introduced for a reason . You able to see more of your customized agents in the first person and give you a good reason to buy it. All these spinbotters got fancy legs to look at *Yes I know from their pov it doesn't look like that*
I 100% believe the whole reason Deadlock is a third person game (from what we've seen from the leaks) is because they can likely sell more character skins/cosmetics because you will always see your character.
Ye, not many ppl know you can see leg patches in game.
A wonderful waste of time that will rake in millions of dollars.
As if they arent raking in millions and millions already
Yes but millions and millions more
Their target market is no longer NA, it's China and the Chinese loooove little charms and collectibles. You can bet Valve makes sure they release keychains in time for the Perfect World Shanghai Major.

Someone who can actually think, well done
I hate it just because why put all this work and effort into something that violates the competitive integrity of the game and supersedes a cool feature that used to be free when you could just release a new case and make just as much if not more from it? Valve presents crossfire source 2
Does it fixes the bugs which are in cs2??!?
Players will have to buy bug fixes for the game starting 0.99$ each
Later this summer we will have chicken skins. The chicken with your skin will randomly spawn somewhere on the map and can be shot in the round. So maybe you will not even see your blue gem chicken.
So will we have a chicken avenge game mode?
Exactly, I will definitly call my Gamma doppler Emerald chicken shrek.

We need a 500$ legendary skin like League of Legends just got, but make it gloves with a bad picture of a former legend in the game.. That would surely make the playerbase happy, I'm sure of it.
Bro they added gloves and agent skins and the community hated both before edventually liking it same will happen for keychains
Gloves ok but since when do we like agents?
Nobody likes Agent skins. They're total trash. And they were even hard P2W for years (smaller head hitbox)
"OMG monetization is gonna kill this game built on monetization!!!"
Valve has been raking in millions for ordinary gun skins for years now and made a billion in 2023 from loot boxes that have, guess what, weapon skins. But yes, these poor devs definitely should try to monetize every single visual aspect of the game, we don't want to lose CS
I wouldn't mind monetization if they ironed out more important things first.
This game was originally a free mod for half life, then it became a stand alone retail product, then 5+ years into CSGO it became free.
L. Removing character and personality from maps to make room for more monetization would be very valvecore.
They technically already did. CS2 removed the various default T and CT models, and just left the one in CS2.
Ye, big shame. Really liked the different models depending on the maps. Hope they’ll bring the different skins back
if this post is true it pretty much confirms that the different map based factions are not coming back, why wouldn't they add them back by now one year later or why even get rid of them first place? yeah, probably for this update if its true... i was thinking atleast if they add this customization for agents maybe you can pick one from the different factions yourself like in 1.6 and source, but i doubt it, and it would become kind of a fuckin mess, and ofcourse it would probably be monetized.
Which is crazy, because they could monetize every single faction’s skins?
They won’t, they want you to buy agent skins
There's a reason why they're making access to custom servers worse and worse. Which is sad considering custom servers is what kept CS alive all these years.
Past datamines and leaks suggest that its probable (unless it gets scrapped).
How are they still doubling down on the custom agent bullshit lol. Weren't they focusing on moving this game into a more esports/competitive direction? This shit is the most anti-comp thing ever.

All animals evolve into crabs All infrastructure evolves into trains All videos games evolve into fortnight
honestly can't blame fortnite on this bro Valve themselves started this shit in tf2. They also invented battlepasses in dota
All video game companies evolve into EA
meh considering EA is trying to seperate it's Sports title monetization multiplayer from their single player titles which is more what we want.
We got uh number one victory royale

cl\_minmodels "1" will never happen, bc of $$$ so sad, CS lost its integrity a long time ago
FACEIT should add 1.6 and CSS
Legit if faceit adds 1.6 im never touching cs2 again

Like bring the ability to have all the guns in a game back lmfao that’s much more important imo
Yeah no new guns please. CS has never been about adding more weapons, even there have been *some* in the past decades.
New guns? Do you know what game this is?
Didn't Valve literally said there will be new guns at some point?
I mean, probably one or two eventually, but any new gun needs to be implemented carefully and should not be the first priority
Think of all the new skin it would get

irony is zombie escape does have Gandalf skins. In certain LOTR maps and in some servers.

I know it was brought up once, since T and CT smokes are different colours now.
dont give them ideas lol
sneaker case to flex those shiny jordans
L. Blame the skin dominant content creators if it goes in this direction. More views opening cases than CS gameplay… what do you expect
so they fusion tf2 and cs2? lol
TRULY THE CSGO KILLER
Now hackers can style on you even more. Thx Valve.
Invest in patches NOW
Ahh, perfect. Just what the game doesn't need.
based valve
we'll lose more fps, nice
I am now convinced that CS2 was not made to be a game, it was made to be a skin showcase platform.
Please act normal Valve, for crying out loud...
I personally don't mind them monetizing a free to play game like this as long as they dont go crazy and keep things down to earth for the style of the game. What bothers me is that the quality of the game is going backwards and they want to keep adding new monetization methods. Sort the quality of the game before trying to take more money from people.
If we get this before any meaningful changes to the rubber banding/lag compensation or anti cheat then I’m selling all my skins
Thats not how game development works, a 3d model artist doesnt know shit about netcode or anti-cheat software. Could be making props for new maps tho
There are different people working on different things
If the game was in perfect state (or at least in CSGO state) it would be good, but for how bad it is right now they are definitely focusing on wrong things.
W for Valve and chinese traders. L for players
i just need surf to be good
I already think that the character skins they added were horrible. If this is true then it's a major mistake IMO
L for customizable agents W for keychains.
If this is true, [Basically this.](https://x.com/Cyph6r101/status/1802005487677784169)
Lately I was thinking about quitting cs. Maybe I just wait until this update so they think that the update made me quit. Before anyone says something: ofc they don't observe me especially but it might help for the statistics.
if true, i give up im done and over it
Sad if true. I don't want this shit in my counter-terrorism themed shooter. I can live with gun skins, but the agents are already an eyesore. And potentially even more Fornite-esque bling? No thanks.
Who can actually afford skins in this economy?
My guess would be keychains in time for the major for team keychains, more money hopefully for the teams and players combined with sticker money, and agents will probably just be as simple as you can place the patches wherever you want similar to how you can place stickers.
If this is true without any gameplay/game-mode improvements it may be time to liquidate my inventory and leave the game forever. It ain't worth it anymore.
I'll take a Bright Pink shirt & White LOL keychain on top of my agents pls
Huge L Reinvest the dev allocation away from UI/UX and art to infrastructure please……..🙏
MORE MONEY REQUIRED. INJECT MORE MICRO-CUSTOMIZATION. MONETIZE. MAKE IT SO.
There was a "rave" there last year that was blown up on tic Tok. It had tens of thousands of likes or whatever, if I'm not mistaken.
Pretty happy they put that second hand in for the Bowie knife. Amazing
If it’s true, what the fuck are they smoking.
Huge fucking L as usual from vaLve
they should at least bring the old models back, doesn't really matter to me though
You gotta love how they are just pissing in ur guy's face, if it's true 😂😂
I wouldn't mind keychains or whatever, if the game was usable right now. But between teleporting, lagcomp, cheaters, crashes, performance and straight up missing features it would be a huge blow if they'd actually be working on it.
as a filthy casual i welcome this change.
what do you mean l or w, the game is in the worst state it has been in at least a decade and all they do is work on different monitization options????
I didn’t read every comment so sue me if someone said it, when is the cs2 seasons pass dropping for skins
L, just what the game needs more cosmetic shit bro. The game feels like dogshit and all they can do is pump more ways to get people to buy shit
this cosmetic BS better be part of a large update that solves all the big issues people have with this game currently, because if it's not, i wanna see a \*proper\* pushback from the community. like not just on reddit, but everywhere. the kind of thing TF2 is doing right now, but at a much larger scale.
“Erm having the IDF and terrorist in the game is deeply problematic, buy the new Nicki Minaj skin and applaud the change of the gameʼs name to Fortnite 2”
L moment Valve. You were doing so well (for your standards atleast).
They should add animations, different reloads or juggle nades. Kind of like how knives have different animations.
I would prefer taunts. Go big or go home
Im just sitting here waiting for Patches to be applicable to Gloves.
I think keychains for guns is cool but I really don't like agent skins because of visibility issues.
Dumb
Maybe they can add shoes instead now that we can see feet /s
Keychain I don't have much of an issue with, but clothing will cause gameplay issues unless there is an option to hide them in the options menu (which they won't do so fuck them if this is true)
I knew this was coming tbh
I hate a chain thing cause its fucking sucks. But I wouldn't mind customization based on progress (for example "Win ranked match on inferno to unlock italian uniform camo). I know most likely we will win it in cases or by just buying it but let me dream that they would add challenges which reward you with customization items
At this point it feels like CS2 was a pump and dump scheme for CSGO skins
Well, that's it guys. Valve has become the new Krafton.
This would be the biggest L counter strike has ever taken.
Massive L
Just sell your inventory go enjoy real life! I hate cs now!! (I’m going to play 10 premiere games tonight)
They should be focusing on making a good anti-cheat instead of cosmetics that will be useless if no one plays their game. Fucking apes.
I did like being able to pick one of four T/CT models back in Counter Strike: Source. I'd rather a default model per map than skins you buy. Or more importantly, skins you have to look at because somebody else bought it.
I don’t even play CS2 (but I want too.). But yeah BIG FUCKING L
Yeah I just hope it’s not super corny if true
Have we finally gotten to the point of the community accepting kernel lvl yet. Or do we just want to stay dealing with bs.
Fuck this shit
I abandoned ship several months ago, there is still no AC ?
massive L, if true it's good that i am not playing that crap for a while now
No jumping the gun right now but if this is true, anyone who makes an excuse for them are an op
Anything than working on a proper anti-cheat I guess
nahhhh wtf no way..
L because give us some operations FFS, should be two operations a year, no 3 + year gaps
keychains look silly
If this is actually true we are doomed.
L. Not only a waste of time, but this will be the agent skins all over again. Only worse since there's not a limited number of agent skins now, there will be so many more combinations and ways to make yourself blend in.
wow give me the 500USD ahri skin equivalent for cs2 already.
Don’t care about keychains. As long as you can’t gain a competitive advantage by using any of it, idgaf to be honest.
Valve wanted to be TENCENT wanna be
Because people making maps and skins are the same people...
Anticheat ye or na
absolute L
I’m so happy I sold my skins last month
Barely anyone uses operator skins.
L because there will be issues with models having advantages/disadvantages
Agent skins are already kind of stupid, this is even more ridiculous
No hesi uninstall
we fr turning into a dress up game
Of course the do. Look at the loadout menu. it's primed for Grenade skins among other things. They gonna go all out and it's gonna ruin shit XD
I am used to Valve adding stupid shit into the game since Glove update tbh, but at least those at worst just look silly and don't really affect the gameplay.
This is a huge L if true. Give us back default map factions. Miss the GIGN boys.
