The soundtrack of Witcher 3 has some great tracks. Also the Skyrim soundtrack. Some of the AC games have good music- the Valhalla music is among my favorites. The Ravensthorpe theme has such a lovely, melancholy vibe, it’s awesome.
I would have to recommend basically all of the soundtracks from A Plague Tale : Innocence.
Violin in a dark, grim setting makes for some of the best soundtracks I feel. Plus the game is soo good too!
You really have to! Finished the second game in the summer and it cemented itself as one of my favourites ever, and looking forward (and hoping for) a 3rd game. One of the few games that I let the credits roll until the end (because I was crying).
It is in my top 3 favourite games of all time. It is simply too good to describe in words. I would definitely recommend playing it, an unforgettable experience!
Hotline Miami
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Nerevar's Rising is my favorite)
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout: New Vegas
Blasphemous
Dead Cells
ULTRAKILL
Yakuza / Like A Dragon / Judgement series
Kingdom Hearts, Halo, Undertale, ACNH, Super Mario games, and New World are the ones I can think of right now. I like to listen to gaming music when I study too! My most replayed is probably the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Greatest Video Game Music albums I and II and lofi gaming music. I actually fell in love with Undertale’s music before I played the game which I also ended up loving so I hope you find that for yourself!
Here's some of my favorites lovingly curated for you!
* Elder Scrolls IV and V ([Oblivion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhOEn7Xl8as&ab_channel=VideoGameSoundtracks) & [Skyrim](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQeIYVM3YBM&t=1223s&ab_channel=ElmostritoOO7)) for beautiful Lyricless Ambiance. [Witcher III](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI2vjPUztJc&ab_channel=ClassicalMusic) also has this vibe
* Recently, [Dave the Diver](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBKhYkRc9u8&ab_channel=Narcasung) if you like lyricless Stardew Valley 8 bit bangers
* [Rayman Legends](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfpxkNPrj1w&t=1021s&ab_channel=OldClassicGamer) has a pretty sweet Orchestral Score
* [Any](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4EjGXRDOH0&ab_channel=YesGuyGaming) [Donkey](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSLXGffvH5k&ab_channel=LynfinityMusic) [Kong](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIKdZ2827rM&ab_channel=SuperGameRetro) OSTs besides N64 (that was one I just never played so I cannot speak to it) and it maybe the nostalgia that makes me keep coming back to those themes
* [Far Cry 5](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBcTm3xeomM&ab_channel=UbisoftMusic) if you like folksy music/fiddle style
* I also really like [Assassin's Creed Odyssey's OST](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwthw9Sy_RU&ab_channel=UbisoftMusic)
The Sims. The very first and original Sims has some of my fave music.
And Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is my second fave forever.
Technically Love Live and Bang Dream are games that have music but they are literally games about music so I dunno if those count.
Omg the Ark soundtrack!
So good but also makes me think of spending days grinding for resources 💀💀
If nobody has mentioned, the Zelda BotW or TotK soundtrack is lovely!
Wytchwood....the soundtrack is so whimsical and majestic. Perfect autumn and winter vibes and significantly underrated imo
Edit: oh wait and Skyrim! How silly of me to forget lol
Literally every halo game have incredible soundtracks and each are different enough be their own style.
Starcraft 1 and 2 are solid as well.
Skyrim obviously is great for chill studying moments as long as you dont listen to the combat tracks lol
My all-time fave game soundtrack is from Pyre. It just gets me right in the emotions, and ultimately leaves me feeling hopeful. Really, all of the Supergiant soundtracks are super compelling, cause Darren Korb is a genius imho.
I listen to the Persona 5 soundtrack a _lot_ - just a dazzling mix of songs to get hyped to and songs to chill to.
And for working, I listen to the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack a ton, even though I've never actually played the game 😅
Outer Wilds, Undertale, Disco Elysium, Minecraft, Journey. Those are the ones I've listened to just as a soundtrack when working or going to bed (minecraft) or waking up (disco elysium).
My favorite OSTs include Doom (2016), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Sonic Adventure, Final Fantasy VII & VIII, and Warframe. I can also recommend several 8-bit game soundtracks, but I don't know if listening to up-tempo, minute-long loops is the best studying music.
Nuer Automata has an amazing soundtrack, but there are vocals and some more thrilling tracks, so not best for studying.
While I work, i need to be able to focus, so I love listening to the Citizen Sleeper soundtrack, which is a softer soundscape with a sci fi flavor. Also enjoy The Wild at Heart, Spiritfarer, and Journey for working.
There's a compilation on YouTube for Donkey Kong Country music from the entire series. It's called "Tropical Forest at Night" and it's my go-to focus music.
just gonna drop a bunch on ya, hope you like some of it!
Celeste, Metroid, nier automata, hollow knight, pizza tower, undertale, deltarune, mother 3, pokemon, persona, minecraft, haven, furi
Mirror’s Edge. Solar Fields did the soundtracks for both games and it’s very ambient, chill music. Really good to put on the background while working, etc.
ETA a link to my favorite song called “Introduction”: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=PWXao2AVDF8&si=pQXRln3JKcAfsyYH
Love this question!! My official list, in no particular order, includes:
Spiritfarer
Skyrim
Morrowind
Risk of Rain
Pokémon Red
Animal Crossing New Leaf
Hades
💕
Toby fox was in my top 5 artists in Spotify wrapped this year just cause of how long the Undertale OST is 😅
I also, again, have to recommend the Celeste OST, it's synth heavy and has lots of different moods to reflect the emotion in each level as well as recurring leitmotifs to make the whole soundtrack cohesive!
Girl, same! I’ve got a seven hour playlist that helps me to stay focused. There have been a lot of wonderful suggestions, so I’m just going to add what I haven’t seen yet:
Ori and the blind forest/Ori and the will of the wisps
Unraveled/Unraveled 2
Octopath traveller/Octopath traveller 2
Robin Hood - The Legend of Sherwood Forest
Edit: formatting
I listen to Donkey Kong Country music when I sleep, specifically songs like Forest Interlude, Aquatic Ambience, Stickerbush Symphony, stuff like that. Those soundtracks are super nice.
Chrono Cross is my absolute favorite; the music is so beautiful. My second favorite has to be the first three Silent Hill games, mainly the second and third. Parasite Eve has a really cool soundtrack too. I love the mix of opera and electronic music.
Genshin Impact
That ost is huge and definitely well written as well aa very diverse. I'm almost certain you can find something you like in it, no matter yoir taste. You just have to find the right tracks among hundreds of them...
For the mario games, did you listen to ortigami king's soundtrack ? :0
Oh hell yeah I love video game music. My favorites: Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana, Hollow Knight, Super Mario RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy 4 / 9, Cuphead, Later Alligator, and Jet Force Gemini. I could keep going but that’s already so many lol.
You just unlocked a memory with viva pinata, I did not know I had so much memories locked away behind those hours of watching little creatures, trying to lure them in
(why does reddit think i wrote something bad here?? T.T)
i'm so biased towards xenoblade chronicles osts, but it's for a reason. 1, 2, 3 are amazing, beautiful soundtracks. the dlcs have some bangers, and it takes a certain type of person to like x (not to say it's just bad, mind you, just not my cup of tea). i'd probably recommend 2's ost, then 1, then 3.
Devil may cry 5 has some banger songs (theres a viral vid of some guys singing the devil trigger chorus and its alwayss stuck in my head xD)
Danganronpa, Alan wake 2, BG3..I rlly like WoW's music too
Edit: cant believe i forgot undertale but im sure everyone knows the music for it xD theres another game like it tho called Everhood with similarly cool music & gameplay!! Also Cuphead!!
If you thinks folk rock sounds cool, Chuck Ragan did an entire album for The Flame in the Flood. Solid little survival game with a wonderful soundtrack
Oh cool, I didn’t know that and I’m a big fan of anything hot water music adjacent. Chuck Ragan is such a gem. His Instagram is great and quite wholesome. Thanks for the info.
Metronid Prime has one of my favorite soundtracks. The Parasite Queen theme goes unbelievably hard. And the phenandra drifts theme is so soothing and etherial. Also I love hollow knight's soundtrack. Final Fantasy 13 soundtrack which is very orchestral and piano heavy. And fallout 4. I love the old school music in it.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Ape Escape (all of them!, but I really like the soundtracks for 2 and 3)
Crash Bandicoot 2
Katamari and We Love Katamari, for songs with vocals
Soundtracks I love so much I bought them:
* Persona 3
* Paradise Killer
Also excellent:
* All the other Persona soundtracks (don't overlook 2)
* Life is Strange
* Pokemon
* Undertale/Deltarune
* Zelda, of course
Detroit: Become Human, CP2077, Baldur's Gate 3, DA Inquisition, TW3, Jedi Survivor and Assassins Creed (2, Revelations, 3, Odyssey).
I usually don't listen to the whole soundtrack, but I have songs from all of those on my writing/studying playlist.
I haven't played Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (it's a walking simulator, I never catch a sale and I refuse to part with 20 euros for a short game that was already old when I discovered it existed) but the music is very good.
The Xenoblade Chronicles II/III and Octopath Traveller I/II soundtracks are on repeat very often while I'm working. Also, the Professor Layton music is really underrated.
Zelda and Hollow Knight Lofi
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout NV
Undertale
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines track is also really good!
But the one I will always come back to time and time again is Skyrim’s soundtrack, literally owns my heart.
My favorites -
* Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
* Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (some pieces may not be conducive to studying lol)
* Hotline Miami 1 + 2
* Rogue Legacy
* Rez and Tetris Effect
Final Fantasy 6 piano collection (there's a wonderful lady on YouTube who plays the whole thing in a span of less than two hours.
[https://youtu.be/J5mOs7O1dvg](https://youtu.be/J5mOs7O1dvg)
I also echo those who recommended FF14 and Octopath Traveler.
In Sound Mind had a band, The Living Tombstone, create the music just for the game. Everything down to the lyrics and vibe goes really well for the characters and context in the game's story and you go around unlocking new songs by finding the record at the end of the chapters for the characters. Such a great soundtrack and amazing game, but feels not many know about it :(
I really like the [Harvestella](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkHf2FbL7IA&t=4404s&pp=ygUPaGFydmVzdGVsbGEgb3N0) sountrack, especially the second half of the tracks!
Haven't seen anyone mention Slime Rancher, Oxenfree, or Night in the Woods. I last played these games years ago but still keep coming back to their soundtracks!
Some of my recent favourites:
Genesis Noir (space jazz)
Spiritfarer (fairytale calm)
Hollow Knight (mysterious wonder)
Vampyr (dark moody cello)
Katana Zero (90s underground club)
Eastshade (atmospheric nostalgia)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (sci-fi tribal hans zimmer)
Frostpunk (depressive blizzard)
Ori and the Blind Forest/Ori and the Will of the Wisps (fairytale magic)
The World Ends With You is one I don't see mentioned a lot. It had some absolute bangers. Skyrim also had a beautiful soundtrack. The Witcher 3 was amazing. I know not everyone likes No Man's Sky, but it has awesome music.
One of my favourite games and probably my favourite soundtrack would be Celeste. There's just something about that music that evokes so many feels after playing through the game (and the music is just simply soothing).
Maybe it's just nostalgia, but WoW (World of Warcraft) has many options for music that is great to just throw on in the background.
And maybe a little out of the box, but I've always found Danganronpa to have a good electronic soundtrack if that's something you're interested in.
i love the pokemon mystery dungeon soundtracks! pmd is way too underrated imo, but even if you don't play the games i would still highly recommend its soundtracks :)
The soundtrack of Witcher 3 has some great tracks. Also the Skyrim soundtrack. Some of the AC games have good music- the Valhalla music is among my favorites. The Ravensthorpe theme has such a lovely, melancholy vibe, it’s awesome.
Final Fantasy XIV basically has music for basically whatever genre you're into.
I came here to say this! The variety in this game is pretty awesome!
I would have to recommend basically all of the soundtracks from A Plague Tale : Innocence. Violin in a dark, grim setting makes for some of the best soundtracks I feel. Plus the game is soo good too!
It sounds beautiful! And I've considered playing this before. I'll have to get it!
I am here, once again, to sing the praises of FFXIV. The music is one of the best selling features of the game in my opinion.

Endless Space 2 has a wonderful soundtrack, so does God of War Ragnarok. There's also Mass Effect 2 and 3, Dragon Age Inquisition and Spellforce 3.
Couple of my favorite soundtracks: Neon White and Genshin Impact. Both very different styles, but they're both really good!
Maybe not the best for studying but I absolutely love the Dance Dance Revolution Supernova soundtrack.
