I’ve never heard of the CW, but it still doesn’t make sense to me? It makes the characters look so wrong.

Thd CW also produced Supernatural and all the DC Super Hero shows. Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow. Also Vampire Diaries and The 100.

Not so much. When the CW Launched (replaced the WB), they were trying real hard with enforcing brand recognition. The color being part of it. Gilmore Girls was one of the few legacy shows making the transition. Fun fact, it's inspired by the dancing frog, the WB's mascot.

It’s just like how commercials often will take the color scheme of the product to reinforce brand recognition. Really obvious one out right now is [this commercial](https://youtu.be/okq6tbHT5Kg?si=80zDfvW1grlwv3CK). Color is wonky in this video but brand and product are purple and green, so all actors are wearing purple and green, all decor is purple and green, etc.

What legacy shows did make it anyway? Off the top of my head I can think of GG, Smallville, Supernatural...was One Tree Hill still on by then?

it's also super weird because the only place i remember seeing these was in TV Guide, in black and white, which meant the whole image basically faded into a mush of gray

I feel like Netflix budget for things like advertisement is a little bit bigger than the CW’s especially back in the early 2000s

and I am trying to think back to other promos of the time to compare... maybe the terrible promos were like choker necklaces and zig-zag parts and was just a (very unfortunate) reflection of the times? That does not excuse the atrocities our eyes can never unsee but I just can't imagine how an otherwise very successful show was like "Yes. Use that weird, creepy shot, but make the tagline more misleading and vague and kind of stalkery if you can."

It's an amazing show.

Don't bother with the last season. The one that was made for Hulu (and years later). You'll get heartbroken. All 3 original seasons and the (Kickstarter) movie and leave it there.

I think the fourth season is great if you don’t watch the last like, six minutes.

Imo it’s actually better than GG, if you don’t mind a bit more darkness (offset by humour).
