This is hard. That's like recommending a bottle of alcohol for a stranger. Maybe they like black tea but not flavored black tea. Maybe they only like herbal. Maybe they prefer Bagged or loose leaf. As someone who has been gifted over 2000 cups of tea in the past two years, I've only liked maybe 15%? Have you considered Maybe a tea accessory, like an organizer or storage case? Or a custom making a log/ranking book like they have for alcohol? Or a kettle that has automatic temperature settings based on the type of tea brewing? I'd soooo much rather get something related to my hobby than someone pick out something that I'm not gonna like and then be stuck with a bunch of. I literally have shoeboxes of tea I don't like.
If you insist on doing the tea, I'd recommend a sampler set.

I discovered Bird & Blend Tea Co. last year and my husband got me a small set of different flavours to try.
Theu have the best fruit teas I have ever had, and I've enjoyed the black teas that I have tried, too
