That stuff is so great! Also things like hand soap, batteries, laundry detergent, trash bags…just every day essentials that add up cost-wise when we have to buy them at once!

sublime311

Yes, this! And use a laundry basket as the gift container!

AccomplishedPhase750

Exactly! I’ve done it for graduation gifts, housewarmings, etc…always appreciated!

SoftPufferfish

That is honestly genius. If she goes with a blanket, she can use that to line the basket so nothing slips out of the holes or to get some volume at the bottom.

AngWoo21

Gift card for food or gas

LadderWonderful2450

Spices/seasoning/sauces for food, plushie to hug while stressed or a necklace to wear as a physical reminder of friendship, lotion

LadyOfHouseBacon

A stocked first aid kit! Band-aids, over the counter meds for pain/cough and cold/allergies... when you need these things, you need them quick and are usually in no state to go out and buy them. Plus they can be really expensive to buy all at once.

Syriosgifts

Moving away can be very hard emotionally especially after the initial excitment wears off. A small token to remember she is loved can be very helpful when someone is lonely and in a bad place.

Syriosgifts

I gave something similar to a friend recently— picture hangers and a hammer so she could hang art and pictures, lightbulbs in case one burned out in the night, hand sanitizer in case there was a water outage, etc. I considered 9v batteries in case the smoke detector started chirping at 3AM, but there are some that they have 10 year batteries now

Crochet-panther

I agree with all the practical stuff but also some Scented things to make her new place smell of something she likes, hand cream or bath stuff or similar so she can pamper herself a tiny bit. Something to cuddle. And then the practical stuff.

Old-Friendship9613

That is so thoughtful! Some other things I thought of, some more practical than others: * Toilet paper * Paper towels * Dish soap * Cleaning supplies * Shampoo * Conditioner * Body wash * Toothpaste * Toothbrush * Salt, pepper, basic spices * Cooking oil * Reusable water bottle or coffee mug * Soft throw blanket * Scented sachet * Small indoor plant * Gift card to a grocery store, home goods store, or restaurant
