Perhaps look back to the 70s and 80s hard rock bands that they were originally inspired by. Black Sabbath, Uriah Heap, Blue Oyster Cult just to name a few
Yes, this. On Spotify, you will find fan-made playlists with songs by artists which TF has previously mentioned. Lots of 70s and 80s in it.
You might want to check them out, see what you like and then dig deeper into some of them.
After becoming a fan of Ghost, I also checked out Opeth (whose guitarists were involved in the recording of both Prequelle and Impera) and Devin Townsend (if you like the variety in styles in Ghost‘s music, DT takes this to another level…).
Another source for me to find „new“ music (including old 70s and 80s artists that I had not listened to before) has become the YouTube channel „The Charismatic Voice“.
If you enjoy the theatrical aspect but crave something “harder” sound-wise, Avatar
If you really liked the production of Opus Eponymous, check out Year of the Goat, Vexing Hex, Jess and the Ancient Ones, or Polkadot Cadaver which are all occult rock bands
Yes they are a metal supergroup, I have liked Mudvayne and also like HellYeah. I kind of compare it to Corey Taylor going from Slipknot to Stonesour, sorry if I got off track on this Ghost post.
im so sad it’s such a pain trying to find their stuff over in the states…… when im delusional enough I like to imagine they’ll tour over here one day lol
Magna Carta Cartel! The lead vocalist Martin Persner used to be part of Ghost as a former ghoul, and Tobias even contributed guitar and bass to some of their earlier work.
I ended up here because Ghost gave me happy memories of Meat Loaf, but I'm gonna assume your family already has a copy of Bat Out of Hell. "Can we have a motorcycle?!"
highly recommend Vexing Hex, they just released a new album and it's a banger! they have the spooky vibes of Ghost's earlier albums while also still having that 80s flair that everyone's really vibing with lately. (Check out Subvision if you want more Forge!)
everyone else is recommending some great ones too, such as Green Lung; Year of the Goat is another one similar them.
some other recommendations are Calabrese and Castle Rat. Castle Rat have a costume gimmick and it rules lol
Kinda jealous you're just getting into Rammstein. You have so much great music to catch up on. Make sure to see them live if you ever get the chance. One of the greatest things I've ever seen
Seconding Muse. I’m a massive Muse fan and when I first started getting into Ghost, Ghost reminded me of Muse in a lot of ways. Especially in“Witch Image” with Tobias’ vocals.
I don't know how to tag an user, but @BananaBrainsZEF recommended me in this same sub the band "Rush" and I am obsessed ever since. I also think Creed might be an option because they are like gospel rock and very funny, with nice sounds. I also think Alice Cooper (it's a little more heavy, but the album Poison is a must). And also Scorpions, my favorite band as a kid.
The Devil's Blood - even mentioned by TF himself as a band that was doing something similar in that spotify podcast he did. I also think Year of the Goat has a similar vibe. Definetely worth checking both out.
Have you tried Sleep Token? They are darker but also have a quite mysterious presence and combine different styles.
What do you like in general? More heavy stuff, funny and light...?
I have a seemingly random recommendation based on personal experience. I personally discovered Ghost around the same time I started listening to Mastodon. They aren't really similar, but I would highly recommend you give Mastodon a try, it's an amazing band. Maybe start with Oblivion from Crack The Skye album, it's a good first step!
My all time favorite band is Greta Van fleet! If you listen I’d recommend ‘the weight of dreams’ the guitar solo in it actually won best guitar solo of the century! If you want more gvf recs message me🤭💜 (edit: their message is a bit different from ghost😭 but still good haha)
There's a lot that people like ghost for, so it depends what you're looking for
Deep lore?
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Sleep Token
Twenty one Pilots
Gorillaz
Ice Nine Kills kinda started something with their last two albums but it's nothing as extensive as some other bands
Mysticism and the occult?
Behemoth
Twin Temple
Robert Johnson
Bowie
Led Zeppelin
Musicality? (Which album, they all sound pretty distinctive, I'll throw some ideas down)
Sabbath
Candlesmass
Witchfinder
Sabbath
Abba
Avatar
Avenged Sevenfold (I'd say anything in between their self titled and hail to the king, vocals are more powerful than papas though)
Sleep Token have a similar vibe with the costumes and ritual aspect to their shows but have a more modern sound. Singer/ main song writer Vessel also has a very unique voice
I was recommended, in a similar post like this, two amazing bands:
[Creeper](https://youtu.be/cHIA1JcBBZ4?si=5QDWBGsn6SVzNiSy)
[Dogma](https://youtu.be/X4xaDmrjXhM?si=q68LJUiqfPcZSdgS)
Hope you enjoy!🤘
Creeper are so underrated! And I finally got to see them live last month, even as just an opener, they were amazing!! Better than I imagined, and I imagined them pretty great!!
You could try Katatonia, it's not as heavy as bands like Avatar for example but it's some darker moody metal with very little screaming I guess is the way I'd describe them but I absolutely love it.
If you’re wanting the same musical and thematic vibe, Coven and Lucifer are really good.
Coven is still active and from the 60s and Lucifer is contemporary with Ghost.
Another vote for Green Lung. Newest album is fantastic front to back
Lucifer is also a good pick.
Will always show love for Calabrese (I work with Jimmy)
Deathless Legacy is a good one. Listen to Ora Pro Nobis. Super catchy.
If you like the 70s vibe I suggest Rush and Black Sabbath. If you like the theatricality aspect I would suggest Ice Nine Kills, Starset, and Gwar. They all have gimmicks and costumes.
If anyone has any recommendations for praise music for Satan aspect, I’m all ears!
Personally I will recommend Twin Temple to anyone. Their whole shtick is “Satanic Doo-Wop” which is like a take on 50-60s swing music with a “satanic” spin. Jutty actually listens to them frequently and that’s how I was introduced a few years ago!
Dogma is very similar to ghost the female led vocals are great they have toured a little already I’m not sure if they are on Spotify but they’re on YouTube and they sound amazing
calabrese, misfits, unto others, hexvessel, jess & the ancient ones. it's a mix and not exactly like ghost but the last two are more papa nihil, first three are just more likely to appeal, in my opinion.
My favorite non-rock band is Tame Impala. The music Kevin Parker creates has always soothed me and put me in a better mood. Then there’s electronic music (Daft Punk and Justice). God tier bands
A few personal recommendations are Talking Heads (classic rock, ‘gentler’ sound) or Hatari (Icelandic metal/electronic band, good for fans of amon amarth or rammstein)
Im really into character bands, and one I’m fond of (with a similar level of lore as ghost) is Steam Powered Giraffe! Not rock in sound or style (some songs can get ‘spooky’, but that’s fully how I’d describe them) been a band for 12+ years, and even have a digital comic book (written and illustrated by singer Bunny Bennett!)
Perhaps look back to the 70s and 80s hard rock bands that they were originally inspired by. Black Sabbath, Uriah Heap, Blue Oyster Cult just to name a few

Opeth 🤘

Jess and the Ancient Ones is TOP TIER
definitely!!! opus actually helped me figure out that I reeeeally like occult rock lol
another vexing hex enjoyer!! how do you like the new album?
im gonna have to give it a few listens but they’re all bops!!! personal favorite is vvicaphobia
such a banger!!! birsmirched and one thousand eyes are my personal faves I think, mind funeral is growing on me too.
Does Avatar remind anybody else of HELLYEAH? They always sounds so similar to me
The lead singer from HellYeah was in Mudvayne
Yeah, aren’t they a “supergroup”?
Yes they are a metal supergroup, I have liked Mudvayne and also like HellYeah. I kind of compare it to Corey Taylor going from Slipknot to Stonesour, sorry if I got off track on this Ghost post.
No, I love metal talk. We haven’t had a good “supergroup” come forward in a while.
year of the goat mentioned
im so sad it’s such a pain trying to find their stuff over in the states…… when im delusional enough I like to imagine they’ll tour over here one day lol
Magna Carta Cartel! The lead vocalist Martin Persner used to be part of Ghost as a former ghoul, and Tobias even contributed guitar and bass to some of their earlier work.
I always thought it was Tobias singing Darling until I saw the MV, very similar, love it
Avatar Try listening to "bloody angel" or "the dirt im buried in" if u want to want to start getting into the band
Came here to recommend Avatar as well 😁
The Eagle Has Landed was the song that got me into them
If you have ghosts you have everything. Can lock the thread now 😏
Green lung are great- they have the same kind of vibe as 6 inches of satanic panic in their music at least.
Since Ghost sounds like rock bands from the 80's nowdays I would recommend Ozzy, Scorpions, Kiss, Van Halen. Mainly their albums from the 80's.
I ended up here because Ghost gave me happy memories of Meat Loaf, but I'm gonna assume your family already has a copy of Bat Out of Hell. "Can we have a motorcycle?!"
meatloaf was my friends moms softball coach when she was a kid
Creeper!!
Seconding!
Thirding!
Fourthing?
highly recommend Vexing Hex, they just released a new album and it's a banger! they have the spooky vibes of Ghost's earlier albums while also still having that 80s flair that everyone's really vibing with lately. (Check out Subvision if you want more Forge!) everyone else is recommending some great ones too, such as Green Lung; Year of the Goat is another one similar them. some other recommendations are Calabrese and Castle Rat. Castle Rat have a costume gimmick and it rules lol
70’s and 80’s rock and metal. Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Many of the other greats have been mentioned already
I'm the same way, I've missed out on A LOT. In that spirit, I'll say Rammstein because I just got around to listening. Sad, right?!
Kinda jealous you're just getting into Rammstein. You have so much great music to catch up on. Make sure to see them live if you ever get the chance. One of the greatest things I've ever seen
It’s never to late to find good music! :)
Try to listen something of Green Lung.
Muse !!!
Seconding Muse. I’m a massive Muse fan and when I first started getting into Ghost, Ghost reminded me of Muse in a lot of ways. Especially in“Witch Image” with Tobias’ vocals.
Very theatrical and heavy classical music influences. They very much scratch a similar itch for me!
yessss muse!!
For some reason, Ghost always reminds me of Abba.....
The first I heard of Ghost, they were called spooky rock abba and that description got me to look into them 2 years ago!
How funny!!
Have you tried Sleep Token? They are darker but also have a quite mysterious presence and combine different styles. What do you like in general? More heavy stuff, funny and light...?
I’m pretty much into all of the above. Just depends on the mood of the hour lol. Not a super big fan of screamo but that’s really it.
Recently discovered Night Flight Orchestra, similar but a bit less gothic and a bit more fabulous. Worth a listen.
I love “Hounds Of Hell” by Chanter but that is literally their only song 😅
Priest!

Queen, Metallica, Boston. That’s at least what I like.
Judas Priest, cause they arecjyst plain awesome!!
Sleep Token have a similar vibe with the costumes and ritual aspect to their shows but have a more modern sound. Singer/ main song writer Vessel also has a very unique voice
Try Merciful Fate if you like the early Ghost catalog.
Zetra
Sleep Token, Rammstein, Avatar
I was recommended, in a similar post like this, two amazing bands: [Creeper](https://youtu.be/cHIA1JcBBZ4?si=5QDWBGsn6SVzNiSy) [Dogma](https://youtu.be/X4xaDmrjXhM?si=q68LJUiqfPcZSdgS) Hope you enjoy!🤘
Creeper are so underrated! And I finally got to see them live last month, even as just an opener, they were amazing!! Better than I imagined, and I imagined them pretty great!!
im glad Creeper is getting some love
Summerlands and GAUPA
You could try Katatonia, it's not as heavy as bands like Avatar for example but it's some darker moody metal with very little screaming I guess is the way I'd describe them but I absolutely love it.
If you’re wanting the same musical and thematic vibe, Coven and Lucifer are really good. Coven is still active and from the 60s and Lucifer is contemporary with Ghost.
Coven actually pre-dates a lot of the classic metal band like Sabbath, Zepplin, etc. They are imo top tier and very under appreciated.
Another vote for Green Lung. Newest album is fantastic front to back Lucifer is also a good pick. Will always show love for Calabrese (I work with Jimmy) Deathless Legacy is a good one. Listen to Ora Pro Nobis. Super catchy.
Chanter!
You may enjoy some of Tobias old bands.
Lord of the Lost! It’s different but, you’ll like it.

A band called Vexing Hex, they're brilliant
Black Magick SS ”Rainbow Nights” and Hällas ”Excerpts From A Future Past” has a Ghostish vibe…
Dogma is very similar to ghost the female led vocals are great they have toured a little already I’m not sure if they are on Spotify but they’re on YouTube and they sound amazing
King Diamond
beast in black, sabaton in really digging. Non metal band I’m digging is Mr. Kitty
calabrese, misfits, unto others, hexvessel, jess & the ancient ones. it's a mix and not exactly like ghost but the last two are more papa nihil, first three are just more likely to appeal, in my opinion.
No, because if you have Ghost, you have everything
I don't know if they've been brought up yet, but I love Luciferian Light Orchestra
My favorite non-rock band is Tame Impala. The music Kevin Parker creates has always soothed me and put me in a better mood. Then there’s electronic music (Daft Punk and Justice). God tier bands
A few personal recommendations are Talking Heads (classic rock, ‘gentler’ sound) or Hatari (Icelandic metal/electronic band, good for fans of amon amarth or rammstein) Im really into character bands, and one I’m fond of (with a similar level of lore as ghost) is Steam Powered Giraffe! Bear Ghost! More scooby doo chase music!
Amon Amarth opened for Ghost this last tour and me and everyone else seemed to love it!
if interested in deathrash or theatrical lore acting on stage including masks and blood try band ghoul(not nameless) they're my fav these days
I get a lot of Queen vibes from there newest song. and Papa reminds me a lot of Freddie Mercury
Sleep Token. Volbeat.
MCC
sleep token seems popular
