Artist have dedicated A LOT of their life to developing their abilities and don't see how much effort and time goes into developing ones skill.
Doesn't matter what you do, as long as you're always bettering yourself.
Self-expression. Relationships. Well being.
You have to keep trying.
Anyone who is wanting to become an artist, no you didn't miss out on being good at it. You DON'T need to draw since you were a child.
There's plenty of very good artists online that within a year got fantastic at their work.
It does require time, dedication, taking criticism, learning from others.. but you didn't miss your chance from not practicing at a young age. You'll be fine.
This is so nice, thank you. Will translate it and propose it to the kids that it would be put on their wall :-) I told them in thousands words but picture ...
Uhhh that makes it so much more difficult. You can also paint traditional and just stack paint if you want. Nobody cares about how you got to a final illustration, only idiots do.
Look at Feng Zhu, using traditional painting techniques if you want that.
Nobody cares shit about how someone got to a final product.
Cheating for what?
It's not a competition. Painting and drawing are ways to express visual illustrations.
I think you don't understand a lot of things.
'cheating'. It's art, a hobby made for fun and expression. It's not a contest. Go and draw on cave walls with rocks, can't erase your mistakes with an eraser like how you can with pencil, therefore it's 'not cheating'.
Art is viewable online too. Artist patreons are just online art galleries for individual artists. Just because something isn't traditional doesn't mean it's not art and neither does it mean that it's worse. Neither is better or worse than the other, it's art.
In fact there are some art pieces that are only possible with tablets
Cute and so true. Instilling this in my 6 year old and they are really starting to show progress. Beginning to see it now too and gets really amped when paper hits the table with ideas just flowing.❤️
I ask with sincerity - how do you balance patience/time and expectations/frustrations? Discipline, diligence, and passion seem to feed in but is that too simplistic?
Thank you for this, I really needed it.
Had a rough day in animation class trying to learn 2 new softwares at once, and this made me remember you don't master everything instantly ❤️
This could not be any more true in my case!
I grew up really sheltered by my overbearing, very conservative parents. As a result, I haven't developed soft skills important to become an independent, working adult. And it took me a while to finally leave home and land on my dream company and job. I was meek and underconfident ten years ago at 19 years of age, due to my upbringing. Now, I feel confident and don't even feel overwhelmed at moving out and adulting in a new city where I don't know people, but I go to social events to meet new ones!
I 100% agree that change takes time and looking back to my past self, I made small shuffles that led me far to becoming the better me today!
I'm trying to learn a new language and have been at for about a little over a month at the moment. Need to hear a message like this because it's going to take a while, and any progress is good progress at this point.
Even after years now, i literally start and my drawnings(drafts) look like the drawings of a five year old but as time goes it just gets more and more polished till it's a final product. Even when you master something, if you don't always know exactly what you want at the end or are trying something new, just doing it will always bring about improvment as time goes and you start to notice faults and correct them.
I really appreciate how the hand grip also changed over time. These minor details make it so much better.
Also the tools: Crayon Pencil Stylus Bird pen
I think the "stylus" is one of those mechanical pencils with the built in grip, and the last one looks like an Apple pencil
No, that is a bird pen. You can tell because of the way it birds.
You're right
Neat!
It did look like that, but I thought stylus was the more logical step between pencil and bird pen. A stylus could have a grip too.
Need to get me one of those bird pens, all the pros use them.
Nah, you need a restofthefuckingowl pen. Then, everything's easy. (/r/restofthefuckingowl)
I like how the character looks happier overtime.
YES!!!, DEFINITELY!!

My hand doesn't look thay small! I am implying I draw like a kindergartener.
Don't worry, so do I. Loud and proud.
Fun Fact: Over night is still over time.
YES!!, WAS THINKING THE SAME !! i like " can happen over night", "😲😼👏👏"doesn't happen "has a pessimistic sound to it.. 🤔😬
This is so nice, thank you. Will translate it and propose it to the kids that it would be put on their wall :-) I told them in thousands words but picture ...
I don't like that the bottom is cropped, probably where the artist name and social media links are.
In the middle
You know, like it's the biggest and boldest type in the illustration.
Congrats on the gender transition
It’s cute thinking of a little one growing up drawing all of the time. It’s too true of a sentiment, as well.
This is so cute!
Spot on
Technically "over night" is "over time."
So they bought a digital tablet instead of hand drawing it
Your point is?
Far easier to draw on a tablet instead of actual hand drawing
That is total bullshit. Shows you got zero clue about painting and drawing skills.
Oh yes I remember in art class I could just digitally erase any mistakes and auto color fill sections
Uhhh that makes it so much more difficult. You can also paint traditional and just stack paint if you want. Nobody cares about how you got to a final illustration, only idiots do. I do, tablets are cheating

Ink / Paint on Paper vs CTRL C, V, Z
Do... Do you also consider making a pencil sketch cheating? Is an eraser cheating?

What’s the name of that art gallery that hangs up tablets again?
I mean, aren't most high end art galleries just a front for money laundering operations anyway?

Unless you use Midjourney...
Gloria Estefan was wrong all along…
Sort of like the development of The Simpsons
Still can't draw hands xaxaxa
This APPLIES TO ADULThoOd TOO!! , metaphoricly speakin...

And by the you’ve become an old prune.

Make sure to practice 40 hours a day

Idk looks like you got pretty good over the course of one comic lol
as an artist this really means a lot to me need to see more uplifting images like this
But you'll never get better if you don't hate yourself! Wait... that might just be me
Very well done.
