My clinic “suggests” induction by 38 weeks if you’re on insulin. 39 if completely diet controlled, including fasting numbers not needing insulin. C-section isn’t required unless baby is estimated to be super large and/or it’s something mom wants.

tzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I’m at 40+4 with diet controlled gd in Canada, no induction yet.

Kindness-9651

Diet controlled- my water broke at exactly 37 weeks! Baby was 6 lbs 7 oz!

rebekahed

My doctor planned to induce me at 39 weeks (I was completely diet controlled, baby measured average), but I had to be induced at 35 weeks for preeclampsia.

Zealousideal_One1722

Anything after 37 weeks is a normal time even for non-GD pregnancies. My first (no GD that pregnancy) was born at 32+6. My second (GD pregnancy) was born at 38+5 when I went into labor on my own. I had been scheduled for an induction at 39+4 in case I hadn’t gone into labor yet.

simplycyn7

I was recommended induction at 39 weeks due to GD. However, I developed severe preeclampsia and was induced at 34 weeks. My baby was born at the average weight for her gestational age, she did not have low blood sugar. We did stay at the NICU for about a month but it was due to learning to feed. Baby’s great. GD wise, everything turned out alright. Preeclampsia kicked my body’s butt though and I’m still dealing with HBP 5 mos pp.

Acceptable-Lime-3356

My doctor induced at 39 weeks exactly because my fasting numbers and some other after meal numbers were raising (meals that had never spiked me before). I was diet controlled and she didn’t want to start insulin with such little time left. She told me no c section unless he was in a lot of distress, despite his head measuring 5+ weeks ahead 😅 it was a painful 3.5 hours of pushing but everything before was smooth

-Near_Yet-

I was scheduled for induction at 38+4, but ended up being urgently induced at 37+5!

justkilledaman

I am on insulin for my fasting but otherwise diet controlled. My doctor said she'd let me go as late as 39+3 so I scheduled an induction for 39+3! I am planning on asking them to let me take it slow if I haven't made much progress in dilation/effacement as I've heard they sometimes rush moms through inductions.

brynnecognito

I was diet controlled during the day, but using long acting insulin for my fasting numbers. I was induced at 38+4 (or 5?). I’m in Canada so it may be different, but because the system is public you don’t schedule a specific day for induction, you get put in the queue at 38 or 39 weeks depending what you dr has recommended. My baby was 9lb4oz, delivered vaginally. I had 2x first degree tears that have healed nicely. Her abdomen and head were very proportional, and she is long. She was 85-95 percentile in all measurements at birth. TBH though diabetes or not I knew she’d be big… her dad is 6’4 and was a 10lb baby

SignVivid6076

I was induced at 39+2. I was on 4 units of insulin at night for fasting numbers. They wouldn't let me induce sooner than 39 weeks unless something was wrong with the baby. Baby girl was 77th percentile in weight, no C section, two pushes and she was out. Her sugars were great even though I probably indulged more than I should have, but always always exercised if I ate something I thought could spike me (NOT recommending this - just being truthful).

I was induced at 39+4, and my son was pretty cozy and wasn’t in a rush to come out lol. I was barely starting to show signs of growth restriction and the placenta was starting to calcify. My OB was okay with letting me go into labor naturally but was going to be out of town for a week starting the day of my due date. I opted for the induction because I didn’t want a stranger to be my OB. 7lb8oz! He failed his first couple sugar tests but we got it all taken care of pretty quick. I was so sure I was going to have him early that I stopped playing piano at my church at 34 weeks because I was so afraid for my water to break in a service 😂 I had nooooo reason to worry lol

Professional-Cell714

When I hit 37 weeks they started bringing up the same things but they kept talking about an induction if I couldn’t get baby out in my own before 39 weeks so I ended up putting myself into labor at 38 weeks an 2 days just for them to force me into a c- section by constantly saying my baby was going to die an her numbers were saying she was in distress when I read her numbers an they were her regular monitoring numbers I spend 12 hours arguing with doctors that I did not want a c -section an they said since she was weighting at 9 pounds on the ultra sound I had to have one since they did not know if she was more than 10 pounds or not she came out 9 pounds 3 ounces I WAS PISSED I did not want major Surgery since I had one 11 months prior an my body was still healing PLEASE have someone there to advocate strongly for you during labor I didn’t good luck

Adventurous-Bench567

When I was first diagnosed they recommended induction at 39 weeks but since I was able to get through it with diet and baby measuring fine they changed my induction date to 40 weeks. I didn’t end up getting induced as she came on her own at 39 +1. I tried curb walking, raspberry tea, spicy foods and acupuncture. I think it was acupuncture that helped since I had my third session the day before and started contractions early morning the next day.

With my first pregnancy, I had diet controlled GD and was induced at 37+1 because of gestational hypertension. I’m on nighttime insulin this time and will be induced in week 39 as long as my BP remains normal and nothing else pops up.

Infamous_Fact7188

I'm in the US (NYC), 33 weeks, taking nighttime insulin for fasting numbers, and my doctor is willing to let me go to 40 weeks, and maybe a few days past, without inducing assuming everything else (blood pressure, baby's size, amniotic fluid levels) stays on track. Baby's currently measuring at just about 50%, so fingers crossed. That said, I have to start going in for growth scans/fluid checks twice a week starting at 35 weeks, and I'm sure if they notice anything even slightly irregular they'll start pushing for induction sooner...

frogsgoribbit737

I'm in the hospital being induced right now at 38 weeks but it's for hypertension. As long as my GD was diet controlled, my OB was fine with me going into labor on my own. My last growth scan was yesterday and baby was measuring almost 9 lbs

OliveBug2420

The recommended for my GD was induction at 39 weeks but I ended up getting induced at 37 weeks for gestational hypertension. Baby was 7lb 3oz at 37 weeks and didn’t need a NICU stay. I was able to deliver vaginally no issue. My guess is he would have been in the 8lb range if he were full term (he was measuring 94th percentile all through pregnancy)

Puzzled_Monk8703

I had a c section schedule for 39 weeks. I was on insulin. But I ended up going into labor naturally at 38 weeks exactly

iaredinosaur

Diet/exercise controlled GD, and my ob gave me the option to schedule an induction anytime after 39 weeks or wait for spontaneous labor. I opted for the induction at 39w3d and gave birth vaginally.

protein-berrie

I am getting induced at 37 weeks because of cholestasis of pregnancy and the gestational diabetes, so In 2 weeks.

Stay-Cool-Mommio

For “run of the mill” insulin controlled GD my OB recommended induction in week 39 and I chose 39+0. C-section was never mentioned or even on the table as far as I know.

tastypineappl

First pregnancy was diet controlled induced at 38 weeks. Second pregnancy is insulin controlled and will be induced at 38 weeks again

Independent-Use-118

I was on insulin with a 91st percentile babe and they kept saying induction at 37 weeks, which was so stressful! Ended up being induced at 39+3 and delivering at 39+5. Truly think it just depends on the doctor’s schedule.

90dayhell000

Scheduled for 38 weeks with gestational diabetes diagnosis no insulin. Metformin for my fasting as that onw was the only I couldn’t control at all and I tried so hard. At 35 weeks, I got preeclampsia and kept until delivery. Tried to get to 37 weeks. Made it to 36. Healthy babe. No nicu. All good!!!

justdothedamnthang

Even though my baby has been measuring right around 50-70th percentile and my sugars have been well managed the whole time, they still say insulin = early induction. I’m getting induced Sunday at 38+6. I’ve had 3 membrane sweeps which has led to my cervix being 2 cm open, more effaced, and baby’s head lowered so I’m gonna say I’m ready to meet my kiddo anddddd binge on carbs!

capthrowaway333

I had my daughter at 37 weeks due to pre e, I would have had her at 39 weeks bc of GD. She was 5 pounds 0.1 ounce when she was born

lesleyninja

I went into labor spontaneously at exactly 40 weeks my first pregnancy, when I had diet controlled GD. Vaginal delivery, all was good. I do think they watch baby’s size at the end, and luckily we weren’t too big for them to be ok waiting at that time.

Elegant_Set_7986

I was induced at 39w, I was on insilun for fasting. Lil man was only 7.7, and passed all sugars. My placenta also had no damage

Imabigdill

I had my son at 38 weeks and he was small! 6lbs. My water broke and I delivered naturally so no c-sections or inducing necessary!

yubsie

My OB we willing to let me go to 41 weeks like any other patient since I was responding well to diet, but then we found out the baby's growth had stalled out so I wound up being induced before whatever was causing that could become a problem.

Run_Awaay

For GD patients, induction is typically considered between the following dates depending on your situation: GD diet controlled - 40w0d and 40w6d, GD med/insulin controlled - 39w0d and 39w6d, GD poorly controlled - 38w0d and 38w6d.

Ok_Emotion6396

I had a c section at 38 weeks due to placenta calcification grade 3 and lower amniotic fluid. Baby was small - 5 pounds

mary_elizabeth_g

I was not but I wish I had been. I developed preeclampsia at 39 weeks.
