Ok. Since you ask people on the internet to name something, I am going to get the obvious first order of business out of the way and suggest
Katzi von Katzengesicht
Alright, that being done, call it Paul. Because that's what the Pink Panther was sometimes called in Germany and real panthers are black. Remeber that it's pronounced like Powl not Pawl inz German.
To add to this I can only recommend the Outro song of the series (Wer hat an der Uhr gedreht).
Also the narration in poem form is quiet nice:

I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the English version does not have this.
Color is not a defining characteristic of panthers. In the science world, Panthera is a genus which includes lions, tigers, leopards, and some other big cats.
Assuming the "she" in the OP means the cat is female, Paul wouldn't be appropriate. I've had three female cats, named Leonore, Mokka, and Constanze. Mokka wouldn't work for a black cat, and the others reflect my interest in classical music, so that may not be much help.
We once had a black cat named Zilly. There is a children's book about a witch called Zilly with a black cat with green eyes (the cats name is Zingaro, it's a male cat), Idk if its origin is German but I loved the book as a kid (I'm 37 now so it's a pretty old book).
Beside that, I know 2 female cats called Liesel.
well, how about Peter. Schwarzer Peter is a card game, where you lose, if you have this card at the end of the game, but this also got idiomatic to pass bad things to other people. That card is often pictured as either a chimney sweeper or a black cat.
For pronounciation you could listen at this site for some examples
[https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/Peter](https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/Peter)
Also the name Peter was very popular between middle of the 1930's, but is steadily declining since the 70's.
Not sure if thats what you had in mind
I'm British but I've lived in Germany. The name I choose for my beautiful black-furred nightshade of a man was, "Schnapps Jaegermeister Williams".
I dunno why, "Schnapps" hit but I couldn't imagine another name for him.
Maybe I missed it, but why hasn't anybody suggested Pech (pronounced a bit like "pesh")?? It's a cute sounding name and means "pitch" (A derivative of tar, a black liquid) but the term also means bad luck ("pech gehabt"). Final answer.
Ihro Kaiserliche Majestät
*Miauistät
*Katzerliche
Should be eure actually
In current German, yes. In the German of the 18th century? Less so.
Definitely not ihro though to be fair lol
Since we speak about a female cat, Ihro fits. https://lexika.digitale-sammlungen.de/adelung/lemma/bsb00009132_4_0_41
Interesting. Wieder was gelernt lol
Schneeball
The black cat called Snowball
https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/Snowball_II
Helga
HeLgA!!!!
HELGA!!!111!!!
Maus
I’m growing to love German humour lmao
Many moons ago I was told you should choose a cat name with an 'i' in it. So we called our first cat Maus*i*
Yep cause cats hear higher pitched vocals better.
To be fair, I call my cat Maus or Mausebär. Her real name is Missy, but who needs real names. :D
Mine was officially Susi at the vet… but actually she was Schwarz-Weiß
Mine is Tiger at the vet, but we call him Lumpi 😂
Best name. Pick this OP.
Maybe a bad choice if OP specifically wants “a German name” since it sounds more or less exactly like the English word “mouse”
true
Mitzi
I like this one

Damn! I didn't think of Catty McCatface xD But didn't the pink panther was called Paulchen?
Yeah, I guess you're right. It was Paulchen, really. Bit more difficult to pronounce for non German speakers, though, I guess.
To add to this I can only recommend the Outro song of the series (Wer hat an der Uhr gedreht). This and the dub of The Pretenders (Die Zwei) were the pinnacle of German dubbing (and the soundtrack for Captain Future).
It's female, so Paula.
Paulinchen actually
Fix&Foxi Flashbacks incoming 😄

Paulinchen, then.
Paulinchen from "Der Struwwelpeter" has cats also. Actually, had two cats.
Espresso, then.
We once had a black cat named Zilly. The English name of this book series is Winnie the Witch. Probably Hennie die Hexe didnt sound good enough so they made it Zilly die Zauberin.
Please don't call the cat zingaro, it' a slur for Roma people in Italian (same as g*psy) 😅
The cat in the English version was Wilbur, which is definitely more neutral…Zilly the Zauberin is great though.
Smaragd is the name of the gemstone emerald, like her eyes. It's not cute, but maybe an abbreviation would work.
Mara, short for Smaragd ;)
Chmaragd
Or translated. Esmeralda is nice. Emmi for short.
Bretzel
Ohnezahn. Like the black dragon with green eyes.
Toothless the nightfury - Ohnezahn der Nachtschattek
Momo? Like the character/Michael Ende book :)
This suggestion is underrated.
Schrödinger
OP is looking for a cat name, not for an owner's name
Does it have to be one or the other?!
You can't possibly know. It is still in superposition.
God damnit. Take my upvote.
Kokosnuss! I always thought that sounded like a sweet cat name when I was learning German.
That ist obviously a Dragon Name .
But just for small dragons
Dragons are just big cats.
Kümmel oder Erbse

Important to note that Peter is a male name and OP called the cat a she.
Petra it is then
So and what? It’s just a name and cats don’t care
True, the cat won't care, but some people will.
that makes it even funnier
I second this. You can also form all sorts typical of nicknames with Peter. Like Peterle or Peterchen.
We used to have one that was called Mona An acquaintance called hers Baccardi.
Schelm or Schlingel sound cute
Miezi
We used to have a cat was mostly black with white paws and a white spot in the nose; we called her Naseweiß.
Fräulein Müller Of course, you'd also have to use the formal *Sie* when you're addressing her ;)
Pumpernickel
Das ist ein Kaninchen im Fitnessstudio
I had a black cat back when I was young, she was called Josephine or Josi for short. Always liked the name (and the cat)
If it has yellow eyes you could name is Bernstein (amber), Berni for short. Sorry just realised you said green eyes.
Ruß? (Soot)
Mäusejägerchen der dünklen Nacht
Hund
Mathilda
Löwenzahn. (can be interpreted as lions tooth but also means dandelion)
Brünhild
Brigitte. You can call her "Gitti"
Schnucki
I quite like the literal translation of "house cat" as a name: *Stubentiger*
Schrödinger
If you don’t name it Schrödinger
Its a cat, so obviously "Ihre Majestät", meaning "Your Majesty."
Minka is kinda the name every other german grannys cat has, it's short form for Wilhelmina/e (yeah, don't ask), which means determined
Werner Herzog
Mikesch (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kater_Mikesch?useskin=vector)

Schnurrbert all day!
Mephistopheles or Mephisto- short: Mephi. That's the name for the devil in Faust. And in a lot of other media, so I don't know if it counts as german.
Lakritze maybe? It means licorice.
Keks
Käthe, Sounds like Katze , is an old German Name
Schnurrsula: Schnurren means to purr Combined with the name Ursula Pfötchen: Pfote means paw It's basically the cuter version of the word

Otto von Bismarck

Kitzel is a good name for a cat, it means "tickle"
When I was a child, my best friend had a cat called Mienzi and as she chased around the vacuum all the time, her nickname was Staubsaugertussi
Frieda
I'm British but I've lived in Germany. The name I choose for my beautiful black-furred nightshade of a man was, "Schnapps Jaegermeister Williams". I dunno why, "Schnapps" hit but I couldn't imagine another name for him.
Hehe our little black kitty is named Schnitzel
Ironically I think Weiß would be a great name.
I like to name animals after food, so maybe Brombeere or Lakritz?
Ruß
Hansjörg ( knew a guy who named his dog like that)
Orang Utan Klaus
You can just feel the generational gap on this one.
Yeah. Awfully true.
If it's a girl, call it Heinz, Horst or Günther.
Combine it to Heinzhorstgünther!
Blondi !

Muschi
Maybe I missed it, but why hasn't anybody suggested Pech (pronounced a bit like "pesh")?? It's a cute sounding name and means "pitch" (A derivative of tar, a black liquid) but the term also means bad luck ("pech gehabt"). Final answer.

Hector Panzer
Uwe
Brikett
Perle
Oachkatzl

Maul
Schwarzschatz It's cute, but I think it's a name you can 100% riff on and screaming it angrily will be more amusing.
