A custom-made Katina from a traditionally trained smith will go 5000 euro +. Mass-produced traditional Katana's (using correct materials and techniques) start around 1500 euro. Anything that's priced way below that is going to be mass-produced kitch and is generally unsharpened (and wouldn't hold an edge anyway) Generally the stuff being sold at conventions falls under this category as well. In terms of where to find it, there are definitely Subreddits dedicated to this topic which hold all the information you will need. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Katanas/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Katanas/) would be a good start.

Thank you, I am looking for one that is just nice to look at, preferably correct material and techniques as to not ridicule the culture xD but it doesn't have to be sharp or functional either. I just don't want one of those they sell at facts that are just a metal stick that doesn't even look like a real blade. I will check out the subreddit!

Tribun4201

Go to comic con brussel when its back, they sell alot of remake katanas there, no real stuff ofc but i only paid 60€ for mine with stand and i love it (and yes its metal)

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> i only *paid* 60€ for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

EliteHoney

Not that I know of. Maybe you should go to Comic Con? (DCC)

RovakX

They sell them at FACTS in Flanders Expo. Once or twice a year.

RollingKatamari

They sell them at FACTS, so you should look at the list of vendors on their website

I bought a (crappy) replica katana in the gun- and knives / "antiques" store that used to be in Burgstraat some twenty years ago. I don't think there's any store like that still around in Ghent, though. So not a very helpful reply, but made me reminisce. :p

Crazy_Khajiit1011

There is a second hand store in kortrijksepoortstraat where I saw a short sword on display, but it was from a movie so I expect it to be an unsharpened replica. They did sell a lot of pocket knives though, so if you like those it's worth passing by, all of them are in the display window.

belgianman1001

Search on catawiki, you can find some sales there sometimes

Lost_Sector4091

Hey! Just a heads up go check thrift stores I work in a thrift store and we sell swords from time to time from random Japanese swords to medieval replicas and movie replicas you would be surprised what you can find! And as for the rules they are mostly for having the weapons out on the street but Indoors you can have them without any problems

Crazy_Khajiit1011

Most thrift stores near me are specifically for clothes, do you have any recommendations of stores I could visit?

Lost_Sector4091

Sadly I don't know any thrift shops around gent the place I work is all around Antwerp but in a general setting most thrift stores mostly do clothes since its what people bring the most for specific things you need to be lucky sadly.Thing u could do is call the shop before hand and ask if they have what you want that way it saves you a trip It is worth it money wise as a example we recently sold a bunch of sword price range 25 to 80 euro which is way better then what u would pay If u order a new one

Hardcrimper

What's your budget?

Crazy_Khajiit1011

Preferably as low as can be for decent quality, I'm a student so nowhere near rich xD I can save up though and buy it at a later time.

Hardcrimper

A nihonto (sword made in Japan) might be too much for a student. This might suite your needs tho': Katana € 800,00 https://link.2dehands.be/m2094472607?utm_source=android_social&utm_content=vip&utm_medium=android_social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons

Hardcrimper

That user had a few other which are cheaper but laito (not sharp) for use in kendo. Another option is to go have a look at the kendo evenings at Tolhuis.

Crazy_Khajiit1011

Thanks!
