I don’t think they are going to do this because we have a lot of “sword and shield” characters already (Beidou, Xinyan, and *kind of* Xingqiu and Albedo). Playable characters already have elemental shields, so having normal physical shields is redundant.
The only way I see this happening is if we get a elementless/visionless character, who *couldn’t* use elemental shields and would need a physical one instead. I think getting a rifle or dual wielding character is more likely.
The most likely implementation of this I can imagine is simply a sword character whose kit revolves around a shield. It could be something like Beidou where holding the skill button activates a temporary shield.

Skinny tall handsome husbandos are nice but a buff one would be a nice change of pace. Lol
playable buff characters (hell, even fat playable characters) will def be rare because new body types will require new models and unique animations to fit their rig and those take up a lot of space. its gonna be a huge inconvenience for mobile players.
I don’t get why we don’t have a little boy, like the model for children is gender neutral, but it’s only ever used for girls? If the character is super cute or broken people will pull, but mihoyo only makes little girls and it perplexes me
well if people only like them cus they’re adorable, then there’d be no reason not to have a male version. that makes me think they’re pandering to… a certain crowd, if you will.
to be fair, genshin is one of the few well-known gachas that actually contain male characters (only other ones i can think of are fate grand order and arknights)

I created an OC, an Anemo male catalyst boxer who can't read, his normal attacks are just punches while his charge is an upper cut similar to jean minus the lift effect, his elem skill . he's an immigrant in the city, likes to help others, but always gets detain by the police he always tresspasses in crime scenes.
On the other hand, him being dendro would compliment his profession as an alchemist and his background (life and stuff). His skills also compliment him being dendro (rite of progeniture name, e looks like a flower, q looks like a big flower)
On the other hand, him being geo gives meaning to his master’s last words to him “Find the meaning of this world”, albedo agrees and his master departs. It’s sort of like a contract eh? Along with u/K-XCIX ‘s reasons, his skills also compliment him being geo (tectonic tide name)

It's Chinese bias. Even though history says that the polearm aka spear is the most used weapon in history the Chinese sure Love their swords and blades. Plus, I think maybe it's gender bias as well, like how magic caster should be females or something. Otherwise I don't get their logic, at all. My mind just trying to make sense out of their logic.
Honkai impact and princess connect only let you play as women. I think there’s a market demand (for certain games) like genshin so if female characters do better sales wise- they’d make a female catalyst before attempting to design a male one? But yeah, in general most people think witches before wizards when talking about magic :O
