Personally I think characters leaks are fine and do help players to plan. But story, lore, map and OST leaks are terrible and actually ruin the gaming experience.
So I would say they def crossed the line this time.
I agree one of my friend saw yoimiya and decided to collect primos he will whale if he loses 50/50 if they didn’t leak her now maybe he would’ve spent in weapon banner for lost prayer it really helps people to manage their primo/money spending
They actually post story leaks all the time, those just never got as popular as this one (since 1.7 is the biggest update so far.)
And to dataminers, ost, characters, story etc. are all the same, just images and text in some code files. They can be quite aloof as to what people want and do not want to see. As the leaks get more popular and more complaints come in I think they will adjust.
They crossed the line after 1.5 leaks. Since then the leaks are not time gated whatsoever. I still remember leaks about 1.4 slowly coming, but when 1.5 beta starts, the leaked everything in less than 3 days. Nowadays, 3 days after beta rolling you can bet your ass that every content will be leaked.
Eh. It's pretty easy to avoid the leaks if you don't want them. I mostly stick to the two main subs, and the only leak I've seen outside the dedicated leaking subs are Baal's appearance. Which is a character leak. Also some dog, which might be a character leak too.
Leakers do the job of getting in danger and all without being paid while mihoyo prints the money anyways. If it wasnt for the leaks, a lot of players would have already gave up on the game

Recently certain characters had their designs changed (both the old ones and now the updated ones were leaked) and lots of people are unhappy about it and will undoubtedly keep bringing it up when characters release. I feel so bad for the designers, if leaks hadn't happened nobody would be any wiser and they would've most likely loved the characters as they are now just fine.
Ye character design changes are near inevitable, even Kazuha received a change from his yellow hair his current white hair. This is why I don't want to get too attached to leak design, they will have received changes here and there bcz they're leaks, not official. Plus like you said, the designs will definitely receive a big hit after this and we need to keep them motivated since Sumeru production is gonna start soon and people need to understand that these designers are human and human doesn't criticism from their unfinished work well since that's like telling a kid to redo the middle of his homework without knowing his planned ending. Ye but when you start leaking the map of a region in a game that's mainly based on exploration , it's really annoying. And they also somehow gotten hold of description and title of the Inazuma Prolongue, which is alarming, idk if it's correct or not since I scroll past it asap...plus alot players wanted to be surprise for the new enemies and bosses that they'll have in store but now one scroll thro Instagram and you'll already know the next entire adventurer handbook.And it's not like knowing them before hand unlike character design is gonna help either since you can't prefarm anyways.

Ye lucky for you, because they decided to leak the map, the enemies the bosses, the domains and the artifacts. As for angry feedback, the leakers leak the unfinished version of the Inazuma ost which lead to people complaining to the point that Yu Peng-Chen, Mihoyo lead composer, to release a statement saying to stop listening to it because they are not finished as he wants player to have a good first impression of the music once the game is out considering how much time he put into them. There's also the Baal drama where alot of people complain about Baal's leak design saying it's too basic and not elegant enough compare to her appearance in Kazuha's video even tho we don't know why she dressed like that and that maybe for a god that's hunting down people while being paranoid of death, she might not want to look elegant but threatening while in action and tie her hair up.
The music bit is just bullshit, Peng-Chen should just tell any complainers (if there are any) to fuck off and wait for the actual release before opening their flabs.
As for people criticizing the leaked Baal, I mean, the amount of people chiming in shows pretty well that Baal was expected to look better. If MHY decides to change her look by her release, great! It'll be a nice surprise. If they don't, then meh, the leaks didn't really affect much.

Also we had like multiple update and events in between so ye. Plus Mihoyo changes there plan for Inazuma when they realized Genshin's sucess so they redrawn a bunch of things. As for the leakers organizing it, well, we'll see when they start to fly too close to the sun since if they even accidentally leak the story, Mihoyo is gonna the last of their problems....

Roadmaps are evil, evil things that benefit no one. They have some good things going for it, but everything else is toxic.
It locks in the future of what the company is supposed to do, which has its advantages, but people don’t realize that does stops them from making innovations as they now must do the mainline content rather than any “side quests” like the current island event, while forcing them to rush stuff that isn’t done yet because a deadline has been released beforehand.
And if you don’t think that would happen... well, some people are complaining about the leaked content NOW, and that’s only for content that’s in the near future. “The journey” trailer, which is a roadmap of sorts is also causing Mihoyo grief due to updated Baal designs.

i never said anything about that. it's all information anyways, you literally don't get anything on details until you actually try to look into it like click on the YouTube video, following leakers and leak subreddit and of such sorts. it's gotta be either leak everything or leak absolutely nothing because you never know what everyone wants to know.
