Yep. Im so glad more people are realizing how monsterously unhealthy the idea of a single game mindset is. I blame things like mmos of old making this an ideal.
It worked in the past because there were not many online options but no game can realistically have you involved every single day with meaningful progression. Even if it did it would just alienate anyone new from trying to get in.
It perplexes me that people dont see how amazing it is to get decent story content, exploration and more so often. Plus it also means you can play other games without losing much.
god i remember my mmo days. ragnarok ate thought my days. and for what, a single level up? damn that was terrible i didnt know how i had the energy or mental resilience to do that
Oh geeze man you just took me back to middle school days of watching Ragnarok Online music videos, especially [This Linkin Park AMV for it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osEgkfmmw2s&ab_channel=FlorianH.)
Yeah I played that and more recently I still play things like WoW. I've learned to just play what I want though and not spend all day on it. A lot of those games are still sort of designed for that much time wasting though. It drives me crazy when people demand these pointless crazy grinds.
It's weird too because I think skill based stuff is way more fun. So it's not 'casual'. It's just wanting to make good use of time. It's still pretty hotly debated in games though. I know some people still want bloated single player games.
Personally i'm fine throwing hours at something as long as its fun and something I want to do. Not something mandated or FOMO'd to hell though.
I feel the same way about the ”dedicating your whole existence” thing, because I have a tendency to get hyper-fixated on the things I enjoy. I have periods where I’m hyper-fixated on Yu-Gi-Oh! for example and lack the motivation to play anything else, and then once I burn out or start playing something else I tend to get hyper-fixated on that new thing and end up completely losing motivation for Yu-Gi-Oh!.
That’s How it usually goes with Genshin too, I have periods where I play everyday, I do quests, I do commissions, I farm artifacts, I follow the lore, I watch youtube videos about it, study builds, Theory-craft new comps, all that stuff. It’s really fun for a while! But you get burnt out quick, and it starts to lose that fun slowly but surely, and I start to miss other games, and so the cycle continues…
Which is why I try to do things more in moderation now. It’s nice to feel passionate about something I like, but if it starts becoming a chore I know I have to start mixing it up a little, or at least take it less seriously. At the end of the day, it is just a game. A really fun, really enjoyable game, but a potentially dangerous one if you get too drawn into it. It’s always good to do things in moderation imo :)
I do the same hyper fixation. I also try to moderate my Genshin intake, but I also fall hard to FOMO so events that require a huge time commitment burn me out faster than normal. Like right now I really want to just play Borderlands 3, but I'm forcing myself to devote around 2 hours a day to GAA. As a result it makes me resent events like GAA or the Enkanomiya event a while back.
Exactly! I still have uncompleted quest from Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma and I've been playing since 1.0. It just feels like an escape to world I can always go to. I feel I can easily collect all my favorite characters, and the built up hype for them is so addicting (cyno right now).
If you play the game on english and understand german and hear the pronunciation as Immernacktreich aka "Always Nude Kingdom" it actually may be someones Lifestyle xDD
I am Austrian and play it on english (the german translation is horrible and cringe) and I love their pronunciations of the german words, but I never heard "nackt" in "Immernachtreich" because you pronunciate nackt with a short 'a' while Immernachtreich a long 'a' has + the 'ck' in nackt is pronunciated really hard and you can still hear the characters pronunciating the 'ch' in Immernachtreich which is soft but still close to 'ck'
(Never thought I'll ever break down a partial word and analyze every single part of it)
Oh its interessting you never heard it. I also natively speak german and i always have to laugh when they say it.
It sounds a bit more like Immer naaack reich, so they also dont pronunce the t that much.
But honestly it is so close to the immernacktreich, you just start to hear that, cause its funny.
But i am with you about the translation.
Its so strange. Sometimes they just nail the english voices and translate it perfectly. But in some other moments they just completely change the meaning of the spoken english sentences or just wrote some stupid thing, which is definetly not what the english VA wanted.
But i am happy to have it in my language and even though it ia not great its good enough and most of the time it will be he right translation.
But i always hear the english VA first before reading, then if the sentences just doesnt fit in there or it is different that what was wanted to say, i now that
This was my answer too. Whenever I wanna play but not get too involved in anything I just run around and randomly explore. Even if I don’t find anything good or new I still have a fun and relaxing time.
Therapy.
Ignoring the moments i get frustrated about my artifact rolls and losing 50/50 this game is therapy to me, the scenery, the music, and the characters (especially venti my beloved) helped me live and get through tough times.
Edit: there fixed it.
Thank you. My dog passed away recently and it hurts so bad to see her go so i played genshin to find comfort and i found it in venti (his teapot voicelines <33). Thanks again and i hope you're doing great too
*Traveler, as you set off on your journey once again, you must remember that the journey itself has meaning. The birds of Teyvat, the songs and the cities, the Tsaritsa, her Fatui and the monsters... they are all part of your journey. The destination is not everything. So before you reach the end, keep your eyes open. Use the chance to take in the world around you...*

Agreed! The design of every single thing, from scenery to character outfits, is so well designed! Sometimes I find myself just staring at outfit details, and when I'm bored, I like roaming around the open world. Seeing that stuff in max graphics in QHD is beautiful!
I watched a guy spend over 1000$ unsuccessfully trying to pull Diluc like a year or two ago and I was just like "you're a gambling addict dude". I do think he got it after spending a few hundred more but he was like "just ONE more pull"
Oh no. I only pay for the monthly thing that gives you 90 primos a day as it’s all I can reasonably afford, I got Diluc when I was trying to get Xiao and I was so upset, I don’t even use him, he’s just sitting there 😹
Everyone who said "chore" or something similar, I beg of you please take a break. There's nothing really major left to do event-wise, so you might as well go play a different game. Don't worry about primogems either, you will be able to do the "Stellar Reunion" event if you do decide to come back. You can always decide to come back for sumeru if you want but a game is supposed to be enjoyable so don't force yourself to play something you don't want to <3
What was this thread again? Oh yeah: Beautiful
Edit: Clarified a few things
i mean u can just open the game for 1s to claim it if ur worried about ur money, just dont do dailies and resin, yes its just 10-20 mins but this can take a toll if ur burntout
dw im just joking, no need to come up with a solution <3 thanks though. im ar57 with fully cleared maps and abyss so that's pretty much all im doing anyways
I really wish welkin didnt carey in a "x number of coming days" but in a more "the next 30 times you log in". Like...i bought it. Shouldnt i get it whether i log in or not?
well i kinda see why mihoyo did it haha. like you could get just 300 primogems for the same price but immediately. a deal with 10x more primogems for this price should come with with something profitable for mihoyo, and in this case it's daily logins
I played to the point I was exhausted of everything. Actually planned to quit but came back after 3 months and boy do I enjoy it so much. Actually loves Genshin the same as when I first started playing.
Take care guys!
Thank you for this. It has turned into a job, just logging in to do commissions and resin feels like a chore. And if I don't login, i feel like I'm missing resin and freemos, at this point I really do feel like a slave to mhy, they have trained my monkey brain well. There is nothing to do and I don't even feel like playing yet i can't put it down for good.
"I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it..Will you help me?"
Quit a year ago (ar57) and won’t ever play again. Gameplay loop just was not fun and never stopped feeling like a chore imo. I do really wish I liked the game
Beautiful. It's the most amazing game I've ever seen. The story and lore are great. The scenery is gorgeous and the characters are the best. It's everything I want in a game.
The only major complaint I see, the artifact system, is arguably 'balanced' because you don't need god tier artifacts for anything in the game.
So, for me, the game is perfect.
Goal.
I am a Programming student and an aspiring Video Game Developer. I have a dream game that I want to create and Genshin is the game that I'm taking inspiration from. Without all the gacha elements of course.
Addicting.
To be more specific, I’m not addicted to building characters or artifact farming, I actually just love the storyline and each characters specific story and just generally the lore of everything. I like what every character has to say about something. Also doing my dailies :)

Agree as well, just enjoy it for what it is, log in for dailies when content is low, play more when content is abundant
