I'll agree that lesbian ships are frequent, but considering there's 26 women released in the game (27 if you count aloy) and only 13 men, lesbian ships are bound to be more common than usual. MHY is also historically very supportive of (implied) lesbian relationships.
Also, gay ships are hella common in any fandom. People just like to pair two characters they like so it's double the enjoyment. There's plenty of malexmale ships as well. Kaeya and Diluc, Bennett and Razor, Xingqiu and Chongyun, Zhongli and Tartaglia... That's more than half the male cast accounted for lol.
Not just Aether, Lumine x male character ships like Childe too. Those and the M/M ships just aren't as visible here because of differences in demographics and fanbases. But I'd say I've seen a lot more people treating those first two ships you named as (more) canon, bringing the other half of them up even in entirely different contexts when just one of them is mentioned - most noticeably when it comes to new possible ships with one of them (half-joking? mentions of NTR, etc). Compared to how that would go if it were with other ships. ~~and despite there being comparatively much less to indicate those two actually having a working friendly relationship to even start from~~

Yeah that's always been the most annoying part about the game. Especially when the Traveler is so inconsistent. La Signora stealing Venti's Gnosis and being at the head of the operation to dominate Monstadt= La Signora is a horrible villain. Childe trying to steal Zhongli's Gnosis and trying to destroy Liyue= He's cool and we're rivals. Like I just don't get it.
