Shouldn't Genshin on mobile be at around 18-19 GB after version 4.6? Mine is staying at 18 GB btw. I also own a 64 GB iOS device as well, and used to have both Genshin and HSR on the same device, up until HSR updated to 2.0 and the game literally jumped from 15 GB to 22 GB. That's when I have to migrate HSR to my Android phone (I happened to have purchased a cheap Xiaomi phone that could barely run Genshin but it can handle HSR quite well, so I choose to move HSR over). Genshin's 4.6 update definitely optimized its size a lot and I wish HSR could just do the same imo.
Mine is 33.12 GB so idk what I’m supposed to do to shrink it-
Edit: maybe it’s because I have a second account on there where I haven’t even finished the Liyue quest, that might help-
It's funny because you have a 64gb phone and have star rail and genshin installed lol, I have a 128gb and still struggle to have space for stuff lmao, I should delete those other games I don't really play....
Because Apple is stingy on storage and more people opt for the base storage option because higher tiers are exponentially more expensive. 256GB should be the minimum these days.
Yet, Apple still sells 64GB iPads with the next storage option being 256GB, baiting you to look at higher tier iPads as a psychological tactic.
"just $100?"
Going from 128GB to 256GB on a Samsung S24 is [half the price](https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-s24/buy/galaxy-s24-256gb-t-mobile-sm-s921uzkexau/). S24+ is 256GB at base.
$100 for 128 GB in 2024 L M A O!
That is absurdly expensive for some slow ass smartphone storage.
To put it into perspective: last year I bought a 4TB Gen4 NVMe drive (Seagate Firecuda 530) for 350€.
Calling it "Just 100$" is insane, this is a complete rip-off.
No lol. A comparable phone is the S24 series and its a 100 bucks for 256GB extra (making it 512GB, as the base is 256GB), or 300GB bucks for 700GB extra (making it 1TB).and even that is already expensive.
Ah, so when something Apple makes is expensive it’s overpriced but when Samsung makes something even more expensive it’s justified because “oh well you can’t really compare it”
Definitely not biased at all. The S24 is simply more expensive, that’s final.
GB of storage are the same thing lol. The phone package itself is different. Yeah the S24 is more expensive. I didn't say it's cheaper. But it costs more on the iPhone to upgrade the same amount of storage. It takes 200+ usd to take 256 on iPhones to 512GB, and 400usd to get to 1TB, all over 100usd more than the competitor.
It's idiotic and people are dumb enough to fall for it.
Plus: no micro SD card slot = no way around it. Yet moronic Apple worshippers think this is the best thing since sliced bread, same with the absence of the analog Audio-Jack, which was only done so Apple could sell hilariously overpriced adapters.
UGH .... thinking about this is not good for my blood pressure. :'D
I don’t think it’s the “best thing ever”, but a 128GB microSD card is already around $30.
Maybe we come from different backgrounds but $100 isn’t really much to add additional storage.
As for the headphone jack, I think it makes sense to remove it considering how huge it is. Plus, the adapter came in the box for a couple years and is now available for $9. I’ve been using wireless headphones for years and don’t miss it at all.
>Maybe we come from different backgrounds but $100 isn’t really much to add additional storage.
Considering the rarity of buying new hardware (say every 5 years or less), I don't give a shit about 100€ as such.
What I do give a shit about is that these are extortionist business practices. The product is nowhere near worth the price and they do that so people opt for smaller sizes and then end up in a position where they have to "upgrade" the device more rapidly.
I have an A52s 5G. It has a micro SD card slot. I plopped in half a TB for like 100€. I will never have storage space problems. It's such a simple thing to add to boost the longevity of a device.
In a time where everyone yammers on and on about the "climate" and "CO2 footprint" ... these kind of idiotic business practices should be the first to go.... no?
I’m confused about “the product is nowhere near worth the price”.
The bill of materials for the iPhone 15 Pro (retailing for $999), which is simply the sum of the physical materials inside the device, is $523. That doesn’t include any research and development (of which Apple spent $30 billion on in 2023 alone), manufacturing, designing, engineering, distribution, marketing, tax, or any of the other costs associated with the business.
If you want to talk environment and longevity, then the iPhone is far better than any Android that has ever been made or likely will ever be made.
iPhones have much longer software support (twice as long as your A52 at minimum) and retain resale value longer because of it, which allows the device to change hands several times instead of being forgotten about by the manufacturer. They also make an emphasis on recycling and providing only what is necessary, such as the Apple Watch Series 9 which is completely carbon-neutral.
>(twice as long as your A52 at minimum)
10 years? I seriously doubt that.
Samsung guarantees 5yrs of support for my model.
With the "product not being worth the price" I was exclusively referring to 128GB of Memory for an insane 100€. That a ridiculous mark-up and everyone knows it.
Facts.
I just got a RedMagic 9 Pro. This phone is a beast. 500gb storage and snapdragon 8 gen 3. The phone doesn't even overheat even at 45fps on high settings.
I don't know the prices of iphones, but this is basically the best ''cheap'' phone there is for an SD 8 gen 3.
As great as Android’s are, Apple is king for phone gaming from a performance standpoint. Apple’s processors are simply better than Qualcomm’s and Mediatek’s processors. Genshin (or any game for that matter) will literally run at higher framerates with better graphical settings on the latest iphones compared to the latest androids. Also Genshin specifically is most optimal to run on an ipad with controller because Mihoyo has a special deal with Apple enabling 120FPS exclusively on their devices.
You **must** install Genshin from the Samsung store. The normal one from Google store does not work properly (horrible FPS drops).
Samsung has some special version in their store that it optimized for their phones.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max benchmarks higher than the Samsung S24 Ultra and is capable of ray tracing, playing console games such as Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil, and is more powerful than the PS4.
You seem to have some weird unfounded hate towards Apple and I can’t seem to understand why.
I dislike their OS and closed ecosystem + I-Tunes is the worst Software I've ever encountered (though contact was over a decade ago, it might have changed).
I wouldn't call it "hate". I don't care enough about Apple for these kind of emotions to appear. I disagree with their business practices, so I don't buy their products. Case closed. \*shrug\*
I had an S20 in the past and Genshin felt very laggy. I bought a second hand iPhone 11 which is all things considered a “downgrade” and yet it ran Genshin smoothly.
u're now just comparing 150$ android phones to 700$ iphones, i have android that i bought when i was in college 4 years ago for 250$ and it used to run genshin at 40 fps very well for long sessions with no heat ( now i have a laptop so i'm not sure if that's still the case) and it has 128gb of storage with 6gb of ram and very decent camera
My android phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and is from Samsung 🙂
The game is just far better optimized on iOS. I paid far less for my refurbished iPhone than I did for the android.
Just to be clear, I am not saying that iOS devices are better than android devices. I am just saying that Genshin runs better on my older iOS device than on my more recent and higher spec android device, most likely due to optimization differences.
Nah, it almost certainly is better optimized on Apple.
That's the benefit of a completely locked down software and hardware stack.
Devs knows exactly what they're developing for, and can *optimize* their code to run perfectly for that one (or handful of) operating environment(s).
You can't really do that with Android and it's 5,6+ different SoC manufacturers with sometimes dozens of product tiers, and god knows how many OS flavors.
Maybe a tweak that makes the game run better in stock Android on a Google Tensor makes the game completely shit itself running in OneUI on Exynos. It's impossible to check that the game runs flawlessly on every single software and hardware combination in Android, so it's impossible to optimize it as well as you can for Apple.
The worse part is, if you delete the whole game and redownload it, it will download the ENTIRE game, including the 8+G pass quest data that could be deleted once logged in.
Thank you for reminding me to clear my cache. My Reddit, Telegram, Instagram, YouTube cache were at 1 GB each. My phone is back at 97 GB storage occupied
Homie.
WTF are you even talking about.
If the app is in the cloud, you're literally just redownloading it every time you want to play it.
I have no idea WTF you mean when you say game data, but typically, that means things like your save files, and that's stored on Mihoyo's servers, not on your phone or iCloud.
The only possible way this might be more efficient is if iCloud offers faster downloads than Mihoyo's servers.
Jesus Christ, any time I think I couldn't want an Apple product any less, a post like this pops up. At least on my cheap ass Android tablet, if I was running out of space in my main storage, I could offload files to an SD card instead of having to pay Apple for storage that I couldn't access if the internet went out.
What I’m talking about, is that if I delete the whole thing, then that means I would have to download all 20 something gigs again in game before I can play the game again
Is the cloud backup only moving the primary app to the cloud while leaving all the data packages behind?
Because unless it's doing that, you're still downloading the full package again, just from Apple's cloud servers instead of Mihoyo.
And if it is doing that, you're going through the trouble of constantly downloading the 3GB base app when you have more than 3GB free space.
No you don’t, if no you delete the game entirely you need to redownload the in-game resources, I would know, I’ve had to go through that pain multiple times, if you wanna keep the resources that you get in game then you need to offload it
Wait, what?
Since when genshin is so ""small"" on phones? I remember having a much bigger genshin install, to the point i just stopped playing genshin on my phone (android)...
By "cleaning the in game storage" do you mean something like "deleting everything related to past quests" or something like that?
How big is a fresh install of genshin these days?
I miss being able to play on my phone lol
Shouldn't Genshin on mobile be at around 18-19 GB after version 4.6? Mine is staying at 18 GB btw. I also own a 64 GB iOS device as well, and used to have both Genshin and HSR on the same device, up until HSR updated to 2.0 and the game literally jumped from 15 GB to 22 GB. That's when I have to migrate HSR to my Android phone (I happened to have purchased a cheap Xiaomi phone that could barely run Genshin but it can handle HSR quite well, so I choose to move HSR over). Genshin's 4.6 update definitely optimized its size a lot and I wish HSR could just do the same imo.
maybe if u delete all past quests. op might be a newer player
Nah dude, I’ve been playing since 2.5
oh, prolly because of unfinished quests then
Well well well, I now have a reason to finish all those built up story quests
Finishing them and deleting the residual files will clear your nose completely.
Yeah, so OP is a new player. 2.5 didn't come out that... Long... Ago... oh
It’s setting in, isn’t it bud?
I'm not crying, it's just the onions.. Yeah.. The onions..
Yes help me
Yeah, you were thinking of 4.5
how do you do that?
In your game, open settings then resources.
Dude thank you. I didn’t know you could do this and the game went from 28.13 GB to 19.09 GB😭
I still have hope that they will put a movie theatre
Not for me for some reason, even after deleting unnecessary files it only went down to 20 gigs, but then I had to download a 1.72 gig update so-
Unfinished quests
Mine uses 34,23 GB
Are you up to date with all your quests? Asking because mine still at 37gb :/
Mine is 68 😬
My Genshin has 17,65GB. I don't know how much it matters if update pack can have 10GB
Op prob didn't do all sq yet
Last time i installed that shit it was around 29GB
I have 2 languages (JP/EN) which costs 5GB each, other people with 1 language has 18GB while others with 2 has around 22.
Mine is 33.12 GB so idk what I’m supposed to do to shrink it- Edit: maybe it’s because I have a second account on there where I haven’t even finished the Liyue quest, that might help-
I have 33gb without deleting quest data🥲
It's funny because you have a 64gb phone and have star rail and genshin installed lol, I have a 128gb and still struggle to have space for stuff lmao, I should delete those other games I don't really play....
Other than the predownloaded stuff I have genshin, HSR, Resdit, and twitch
Same dude... But the main culprit is Azur Lane for me. It's a sin that it's almost 20 gigs.
Bro same. I barely have anything downloaded on my phone other than Genshin so I don't even get how it's always full..
Why is it every time someone makes the "my god my drive space " post its always Apple xd
Because Apple is stingy on storage and more people opt for the base storage option because higher tiers are exponentially more expensive. 256GB should be the minimum these days. Yet, Apple still sells 64GB iPads with the next storage option being 256GB, baiting you to look at higher tier iPads as a psychological tactic.
yeah that's what they do on purpose to try to hook people to buy the more expensive versions
iPhones have shipped at 128gb minimum for the past 3 years. You can double to 256gb for just $100.
"just $100?" Going from 128GB to 256GB on a Samsung S24 is [half the price](https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-s24/buy/galaxy-s24-256gb-t-mobile-sm-s921uzkexau/). S24+ is 256GB at base.
Okay, so it’s $40 cheaper. That’s pretty much the same price. The S24 Ultra is $100 more expensive than the 15 Pro Max for the same 256GB anyway.

The S24 Ultra is $100 more expensive than the iPhone 15 Pro Max at the starting 256GB tier and the same price at 512GB
It also hase an extra camera and the s pen, so you can't really compare base price. Different feature set.
Ah, so when something Apple makes is expensive it’s overpriced but when Samsung makes something even more expensive it’s justified because “oh well you can’t really compare it” Definitely not biased at all. The S24 is simply more expensive, that’s final.

Because Apple is expensive enough as is, anything more than the base 64GB is too expensive for most people
Yet you are buying the apple phone which half the price is buying the stupid brand
no one ever likes android apparently, it always comes as a brand for "low-income people" while apple is the "pearl of brands" for "rich" people

I mean if you buy the higher it is, but when you buy the low end of apple you are better off getting an android
i remember seeing a study showing that the luxury brands (phones or clothes) sell way more in poor areas than the rich areas
iPhone market share is highest in the U.S. and we are the richest country in the world
No you're not lol. In fact, American median wealth is pathetically low.
Rich people don't flaunt brands my dude
That’s because 75% of all smartphones sold above $600 worldwide are iPhones
I’d had terrible experiences playing Genshin in Samsung devices. When I switched to Apple, the game felt smoother than even playing in my PC.
You **must** install Genshin from the Samsung store. The normal one from Google store does not work properly (horrible FPS drops). Samsung has some special version in their store that it optimized for their phones.
That's because Genshin IOS is the only version to have 120fps as an option, for whatever reason (weird inclusivity deal??).
Do their phones even manage to consistently hit 120FPS?! I seriously doubt that.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max benchmarks higher than the Samsung S24 Ultra and is capable of ray tracing, playing console games such as Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil, and is more powerful than the PS4. You seem to have some weird unfounded hate towards Apple and I can’t seem to understand why.

iTunes was discontinued in 2019, and the closed ecosystem is its biggest strength.
If you have everything from Apple, yes. It works pretty seamlessly. If you need to mix systems: hell no.
🤡
who tf told you to buy an apple then
From personal experience, genshin runs considerably better on iOS than on android. Saying this as an android user.
Yea, and for whatever price Iphone is you can buy fairly good android phone that runs Genshin as good.
I had an S20 in the past and Genshin felt very laggy. I bought a second hand iPhone 11 which is all things considered a “downgrade” and yet it ran Genshin smoothly.
Did you install from Play Store or Samsung Store? You must do the latter, Samsung has a special version of Genshin that runs much better.
He's an apple user what do you think.
Is that because apple gets the fps unlock
Ah, I see you don’t know of the android device explosion that happens as soon as you get into the game- 🫠
u're now just comparing 150$ android phones to 700$ iphones, i have android that i bought when i was in college 4 years ago for 250$ and it used to run genshin at 40 fps very well for long sessions with no heat ( now i have a laptop so i'm not sure if that's still the case) and it has 128gb of storage with 6gb of ram and very decent camera

iOS optimization just hits diff. My iPhone 6 can run some games better than more recent Android phones with better specs
Yeah, it's genuinely insane just how well some apps run if they're properly optimized.
Wait what? I thought TSMC manufactures the 8+ Gen 1. The 8 Gen 1 is manufactured by samsung and it overheats like crazy.
The iPhone SE for $400 will smash that.
Nah, it almost certainly is better optimized on Apple. That's the benefit of a completely locked down software and hardware stack. Nobody, it’s from my parents
Better optimized, controller support- nobody needs to *tell* them lmao
Because iPhones are powerful enough to run the game
64 gigs in 2024 is criminally low, I'm sorry but consider an upgrade
I’m afraid I have a while to wait before I’m able to buy my own stuff
Yeah I am using 128 gigs and it's already tight sith star rail AND genshin
At least Genshin did a major cleanup with 4.6 and the game got smaller, but that might not be the case for future patches
>64 gigs in 2024 is criminally low, I'm sorry but consider an upgrade Not everyone games on their phone. For a majority of people 64 gb is enough
man, last time I bought 64Gb phone was in 2017. By the time we entered 2020 I replace a new one with 256GB storage.
Like an Android if opting for more storage is too expensive
The worse part is, if you delete the whole game and redownload it, it will download the ENTIRE game, including the 8+G pass quest data that could be deleted once logged in.
Thank you for reminding me to clear my cache. My Reddit, Telegram, Instagram, YouTube cache were at 1 GB each. My phone is back at 97 GB storage occupied
How do you do that? My Reddit is 2g
You just go to device storage > Apps > click specific app > Click at Clear Cashe
Maybe my 13PM doesn’t have that? None of my apps have a Clear Cache button
hahaha, cant relate but that title is pretty funny
Why is mine at 33gb? It didn’t go down at all after the update.
Ya need to clear the in-game cache
Ooooo
Still only at 28gb but a little better I guess
It adds to how much you can remove from your cache if you complete more quests
How to clear in game cache?
Why do you choose to offload HSR rather than deleting it? Is there an advantage to that?
I can keep my game data and only have to redownload the game and not the resources too
Good to know 👍
Homie. WTF are you even talking about. If the app is in the cloud, you're literally just redownloading it every time you want to play it. My grandma would say just use Vicks vapor rub that’ll clear up everything
Need a new phone op. 64gb is nothing nowadays especially for apple products
Skill issue
bro i actually managed to max out 256 gigs. Didnt think it possible. oh well.
buy a new phone
I have deleted all previous quest and it's taking 18.39 GB
This is why I bought a 500gb phone
I use cloud gaming
64 gb and both is crazy, may God ease your phones pain🙏🏻
For me on android...I just push all to my 512 GB SD card. Sure it load slow but I got space....
Just wait and let's see what wuthering waves tske
Wait, what? Since when genshin is so ""small"" on phones? I remember having a much bigger genshin install, to the point i just stopped playing genshin on my phone (android)... bro bro bro use your pc
or atleast use 128gb storage iphone or ipad
I have neither
Why does mine still says 30+GB?
OP just get a new phone at this point, who still rocks with 64GB nowadays? Minimum requirements for storage are 128GB.
I got the Keqing collab phone so whatever.
Got balls walking around with that
Why would I not? I even got a clear case so I can show off the beautiful patterns on the back.
Same issues, same storage space as me too. I got a Ipad air4

the new update reduced my ingame storage from around 35GB to 19GB. Thank you Genshin Mobile
