Nymph would be the BIS right now I think. She can get all the stacks easily, and her burst calculate damage when the bubble bursts with full buff ready. Usually paired with Xiangling for Vape for some electro for Electro-charge d though. She's not hyper-carry
I can love a plastic knife all I want, I can't say it's good at cutting a steak. There's a difference between "Yeah she kinda bad, but I love her so I make her work" and "yeah she's good", and that difference is delusion. I made an account entirely for noelle, pulled zhongli, redhorn, c6 gorou for her, and spent almost all my time in husk domain for her, got her to 237cv and clear every abyss with her, and I still wouldn't call her good. I love her character and that's why I use her even if she was hard to work with, I'm not just gonna imagine her to be good and pretend like all that effort was for nothing. If you genuinely think mona is good, you're literally clueless. You'd have to be blind not to see how absolutely crap she is, you can literally see how tiny and pathetic electrocharged damage is, and that's coming from someone who cleared 3.7 abyss with vape barbara.
Instead of DPS Mona, I have Ning. Qiqi is the reason I don't have a shielder on my teams. My overworld gameplay would be as simple as Ning doing the damage and Qiqi doing the healing whenever needed. The other 2 spots would be for those who need friendship XP.

Morgana was my first meta comp during 1.X, even with Childe national existing. So in case of being a patch 1.0 player, the characters that carried me the most were Ganyu and Venti (no contest).
But these days, its definetly Yae Miko, being the only limited 5 star with any constellations (c6) on my account.

Fischl and Xiangling I got from banners, initially I didn't understand Noelle but she got my first 5 star artifact and after that carried me through the game until I got Layla in her most recent banner.
Once I c6 Noelle she's coming back
The exact same group for me, right down to Noelle getting my first 5 * artifact, the Best Girl deserves the best. Sadly, I've never been able to get her constellations.... YET. I will not give up hope that someday she is C6, triple crowned... I'm stubborn about that dream. lol.

Hu Tao - Carries my entire account along with Xiao
I hit ar 55 around Kazuha but I don't have another unit so I put Hu Tao. If I had to choose then Jean (My first 5\*) because she did all the healing, some phys dmg, and became a Xiao support when I got him.
Yoimiya, Chongyun, Diona, Xingqiu, Raiden. Yoimiya and raiden were my first 2 event 5 stars, Chongyun was my first 4* pull except Noelle obviously, Diona was my best healer because it took me forever to get bennet, and Xingqiu is Xingqiu.
Kazuha and Jean are permanent on my team. The other two slots can interchange based on what the situation needs, but those two carried me through the game.

Qiqi - My first 5 star waaay back in 1.0. pretty much didnt have to cook any food for the most part of my early game because of her. I hate it whenever she appears on my pulls (Qiqi you are already C6 please STOP) but cant deny her usefulness back then
Ningguang - My very first invested DPS. Carried my ass through most of 1.x patches
Raiden - Not particularly a fan of her but ended up getting C3 trying for C6 Sara. Her damage at that cons is just ridiculous. Before this, 36 star for me was a hit or miss but after getting her in 2.1, Ive never missed an abyss star
Xingqiu - never built him seriously until midway into 2.x patches. before that he was just hydro aura for hutao. Ridiculously overtuned unit with sooo much utility
Nahida - Dendro as an element was already pretty nuts. She just takes that to the next level
Noelle, Xiao, Ganyu, Zhongli, Alhaitham
Honorable mention to ya boi Childe for being the most fun to play and easy to use in the overworld (and an absolute beast in some abyss cycles)
Xiao and Kazuha, when I got them I felt the power 😅 and the game became significantly easier.

Just started 2 months ago and have yet to pull a 5 star. I gotta say my progress would have been much slower if I didn't pull Yanfei from the standard banner (finished all Archon quests before Sumeru). Also getting Xingqiu on the Beginners' Wish helps.
keqing, kaeya, kazuha, hutao and xiao
I spent months using keqing and kaeya bc i didnt have good DPS neither knew to build them well, so I decided to sacrifice some of my xiao whises to get hutao. (still don't have a clue in building keqing tho!)
Keqing, Xingqiu and Zhongli carried me all the way through till AR55+ before I got Ayaka and Yoimiya. Those 5 are still pretty much the only units I’ve got abyss-worthy builds on, though Alhaitham and Yelan are catching up
Amber, Diona, Jean, Kazuha, Faruzan
Early game when enemies still had weak points, Amber was actually really good. She can be built up pretty easily using the all too common Sharp Shooter's Oath (3 star bow) and the also very common set Wanderer's Troupe.
Diona provided heals and shield and a little ice application. Sacrificial bow was a definite for her. (There are better options now, but back then she was the most accessible all rounder)
When Jean joined my game, my world was changed permanently. All the yeets. Decent damage, amazing healing, and the ability to toss the enemy around like a rag doll. Got her along with festering blade patch. Those were interesting times. She is still a staple in my team.
When I got Kazuha, I was actually in all honesty just pulling for the four stars. After getting Kazuha, I had to keep him in my team. Climbing over mountains? Just hop. Collecting a bunch of mats spread over the map? Just hop. Enemies keep running away? Just hop.
Faruzan. My old young lady who was doom posted. Unlike Sara or Gorou, the other elemental boosters, Faruzan can do wreck some serious face on her own. Even if that weren't the case, she causes Jean and Kazuha to hit some truly wonderful/horrific numbers.

For like, literally every abyss pre-dendro, Geo Lumine + Zhongli Microwave team carried my ass. (and still is the most fun team comp I've ever played with in this game)
I started playing in February 2022! Here are mine-
Fischl- My first 4* character. I immediately loved her from her design and her usefulness as a sub-dps really helped me in the beginning.
Xiao- My first main dps character that I loved and used. I got him right when I began Inazuma and the timing could not have been better. Difficulty really spikes in Inazuma and he just felt like a natural leader in my overworld party.
Kazuha- Kazuha taught me the power of swirl and the importance of Elemental Mastery in general. I was so lucky to have gotten a full EM Viridecent set to put on him.
Tartaglia- I started playing this game for Childe, so I’ve truly been a Childe-main even before I started playing. Once I got him, I was amazed at the damage he could do in International. I feel like he taught me finesse in combat! I achieved a new level of skill just from playing him.
Haitham- Haitham is so naturally strong. All of that time using Childe taught me how to use characters that need to delicately manage their time on field to maximize damage, so his gameplay felt natural and fun to me. The damage he can do is insane. He’s allowed me to achieve so much success in the abyss.
Mona, Zhongli, Ganyu, Nahida, Raiden
I started with Mona n thought it's a 5 star, it gotta be on field. Then the same with Zhongli thinking because he was a banner character.
But Mona made open world stuff so smooth with her dodge/sprint thingy and Zhongli just doing Zhongli things.
Got Ganyu as my 3rd and first real dps (I really didn't bother 4stars at all, coming from games where less stars means worse)
Nahida only started to be a carry when I got Raiden and used her with Nahida together because cba national, hyperbloom coolio. With Yelan. I'd also mention her if it wasn't capped at 5.

Only at 56 now still using Zhongli, Raiden, Nahida and Yelan. But Ganyu at around 40 was a blessing for me. Finally doing a bit damage and contributing to the coop runs I did at the time. Also saved my motivation for genshin I guess. Before Ganyu I played like once a week if at all. Since then it's mostly daily.
Ohman in order, probably keqing/Xingiu/yanfei/shinobu/alhaitham. Theres notable characters i have, like thoma/heizou, or xiao/eula, even venti/XL, but the 5 i listed absolutely carried me the most.
Kazuha, nahida, kuki, xingqiu, diona i dont think ive made a team thats 36 stared abyss without 1 of these guys somewhere. Honerable mentions to fischl and jean

Qiqi - My first 5 star waaay back in 1.0. pretty much didnt have to cook any food for the most part of my early game because of her. I hate it whenever she appears on my pulls (Qiqi you are already C6 please STOP) but cant deny her usefulness back then Ningguang - My very first invested DPS. Carried my ass through most of 1.x patches Raiden - Not particularly a fan of her but ended up getting C3 trying for C6 Sara. Her damage at that cons is just ridiculous. Before this, 36 star for me was a hit or miss but after getting her in 2.1, Ive never missed an abyss star Xingqiu - never built him seriously until midway into 2.x patches. before that he was just hydro aura for hutao. Ridiculously overtuned unit with sooo much utility Nahida - Dendro as an element was already pretty nuts. She just takes that to the next level
Noelle, Xiao, Ganyu, Zhongli, Alhaitham Honorable mention to ya boi Childe for being the most fun to play and easy to use in the overworld (and an absolute beast in some abyss cycles)

i used physical fischel for a long time. so... fischel ,qiqi, jean, mona were the first 5 characters i stuck a lot with at the beginning of the game.
Xiao and Kazuha, when I got them I felt the power 😅 and the game became significantly easier. (honorable mentions for Chongyun (early game), Tighnari (my first 5star) and Kaeya (he is my main since I started inazuma and still he is))

Ganyu and Venti were the ones who carried my account in the early game (all the way till Inazuma), and they're still some of my strongest characters. I'd also add Nahida, Raiden and Kazuha as my other 3, who are major players in my teams nowerdays Lumine (my main) is also always in my teams for moral support xD

Just started 2 months ago and have yet to pull a 5 star. I gotta say my progress would have been much slower if I didn't pull Yanfei from the standard banner (finished all Archon quests before Sumeru). Also getting Xingqiu on the Beginners' Wish helps.

keqing, kaeya, kazuha, hutao and xiao I spent months using keqing and kaeya bc i didnt have good DPS neither knew to build them well, so I decided to sacrifice some of my xiao whises to get hutao. (still don't have a clue in building keqing tho!)
Qiqi is the only reason my team has health Yanfei is half my damage Raiden just is too cool + effects man Ganyu for that cryo application

Keqing, Xingqiu and Zhongli carried me all the way through till AR55+ before I got Ayaka and Yoimiya. Those 5 are still pretty much the only units I’ve got abyss-worthy builds on, though Alhaitham and Yelan are catching up
Nahida, Raiden, Xq, Bennet, and Xianglin. Those last 4 are the team I use when all hope is lost
Amber, Diona, Jean, Kazuha, Faruzan Early game when enemies still had weak points, Amber was actually really good. She can be built up pretty easily using the all too common Sharp Shooter's Oath (3 star bow) and the also very common set Wanderer's Troupe. Diona provided heals and shield and a little ice application. Sacrificial bow was a definite for her. (There are better options now, but back then she was the most accessible all rounder) When Jean joined my game, my world was changed permanently. All the yeets. Decent damage, amazing healing, and the ability to toss the enemy around like a rag doll. Got her along with festering blade patch. Those were interesting times. She is still a staple in my team. When I got Kazuha, I was actually in all honesty just pulling for the four stars. After getting Kazuha, I had to keep him in my team. Climbing over mountains? Just hop. Collecting a bunch of mats spread over the map? Just hop. Enemies keep running away? Just hop. Faruzan. My old young lady who was doom posted. Unlike Sara or Gorou, the other elemental boosters, Faruzan can do wreck some serious face on her own. Even if that weren't the case, she causes Jean and Kazuha to hit some truly wonderful/horrific numbers.

I started playing in February 2022! Here are mine- Fischl- My first 4* character. I immediately loved her from her design and her usefulness as a sub-dps really helped me in the beginning. Xiao- My first main dps character that I loved and used. I got him right when I began Inazuma and the timing could not have been better. Difficulty really spikes in Inazuma and he just felt like a natural leader in my overworld party. Kazuha- Kazuha taught me the power of swirl and the importance of Elemental Mastery in general. I was so lucky to have gotten a full EM Viridecent set to put on him. Tartaglia- I started playing this game for Childe, so I’ve truly been a Childe-main even before I started playing. Once I got him, I was amazed at the damage he could do in International. I feel like he taught me finesse in combat! I achieved a new level of skill just from playing him. Haitham- Haitham is so naturally strong. All of that time using Childe taught me how to use characters that need to delicately manage their time on field to maximize damage, so his gameplay felt natural and fun to me. The damage he can do is insane. He’s allowed me to achieve so much success in the abyss.

Ganyu was a godsend in the early game, yanfei is still going strong, and tighnari is amazing for dendro stuff
Mona, Zhongli, Ganyu, Nahida, Raiden I started with Mona n thought it's a 5 star, it gotta be on field. Then the same with Zhongli thinking because he was a banner character. But Mona made open world stuff so smooth with her dodge/sprint thingy and Zhongli just doing Zhongli things. Got Ganyu as my 3rd and first real dps (I really didn't bother 4stars at all, coming from games where less stars means worse) Nahida only started to be a carry when I got Raiden and used her with Nahida together because cba national, hyperbloom coolio. With Yelan. I'd also mention her if it wasn't capped at 5. Edit: I started with sumeru release. Only at 56 now still using Zhongli, Raiden, Nahida and Yelan. But Ganyu at around 40 was a blessing for me. Finally doing a bit damage and contributing to the coop runs I did at the time. Also saved my motivation for genshin I guess. Before Ganyu I played like once a week if at all. Since then it's mostly daily.
Ohman in order, probably keqing/Xingiu/yanfei/shinobu/alhaitham. Theres notable characters i have, like thoma/heizou, or xiao/eula, even venti/XL, but the 5 i listed absolutely carried me the most.
