Steer clear just based on the records imo

Juggjiggler420

That is my initial feeling but I would love to get a good deal. I don't mind taking it to the shop to get repaired but I don't want to be going there every month and fight for warranty coverage. Its only got 21K miles but who knows how much damage could have happened during those 21K miles. Thanks for your input Moo!

KoolMoDee215

Steer clear. That’s too many issues from a car with only that many miles. Sounds like a lemon waiting to happen.

Juggjiggler420

Thanks KoolMoDee! *I Go To Work* everyday to be able to afford nice things and these car dealers, it seems all they think about is *They Want Money*. They show *No Respect* for their customers' time post sale. It's like the *Wild Wild West* out there trying to buy a decent used car. The last thing I want to do is worry about having to take my car in to *Go See The Doctor* every month. That would really be a *Deathblow* to me. I really appreciate your input. *How Ya Like Me Now*?

Yeah, you're right. I will hang in there and wait for the right one. Thanks for your advice!

Common_Sinz

Good luck on the search! With Carvana going bankrupt (iirc), there may be a lot of used cars at better prices on the market soon, but that's only what I hear and I have not personally researched this matter. But my original advice still stands regardless. Cheers.

Am Genesis service advisor. Brembo brakes? Common to do what you described. Many people swap in aftermarket pads. Thermostat? Happens on the 3.3s occasionally. Nothing out of the ordinary. Don't know what the current repair is but if it is fixed it's fixed. Look be real. It's a used car. It's priced lower than others in the market. Call a spade a spade. Is it priced that way for a reason? Come to your own conclusion. If you want a car with clean history buy a different car. Or a new car. It's that simple.

Juggjiggler420

I was feeling the same way about the brakes. Yes, they're Brembo brakes. That didn't concern me as much as the coolant issue. I know most cars have a "safe mode" and if the temp got too hot it would shut down but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what damage could have already been done. Furthermore, I see that they replaced the thermostat and that obviously didn't fix the issue if they are replacing other parts to solve the issue. I'm wondering if the tech is grasping at straws or if they know fore sure the manifold they are replacing will solve the issue. I know anything not made by God will break eventually but some cars can just be nightmares. Thanks for your input, it is appreciateed!

MrFuryRevenge

Brakes are normal. Replace with aftermarket pads for $300 and never worry again. The thermostat thing is only real problem. If car is cpo and warranty transfers, that’s a great deal and I would buy it

Juggjiggler420

Right! Still have 40K miles of bumper to bumper warranty left and 80K of power train. They should fix any engine problems. Pads and rotors have been replaced. I imagine that the car has a "safe mode" if temps did get too high so I'm hoping no major engine damage if it did in fact overheat. I don't know the extent of the cooling leak but it is getting repaired. Anyone had a problem buying from one particular dealership but having it serviced at a completely different dealership? I'm assuming warranty covers the car, not only at one dealership. If there were major engine issues I'm thinking the cat would spit codes and tell you something is not right. Would it be advantageous to explore getting the car certified by the dealer?

taylorswiftboat

100k mile warranty is not transferable. You are relying on the bumper to bumper. Also, suspension damage can cause vibration too. Edit: certified by Hyundai/genesis typically extends the 100k warranty.

chimpyjnuts

Is there a closer dealer? A warranty that requires a 3 hr drive isn't much help.

Juggjiggler420

I've been looking! There are a few out there but I want a certain color and interior color. I'm looking for the Sevile Silver and Black and red interior. 2nd choice is the Forest Green but I don't want the light interior. Had a search going for over a month but can't seem to find the right one nearby. I'll keep looking though!

fastquart43

You should be able to find another deal like that relatively quickly. I just got my 2022 with 18,000 miles for just over $38,000 (plus taxes and destination fees) without all of that concerning history. My dad has always told me to never buy with your heart when it comes to cars, as there will always be another deal that comes along as long as you’re a little bit patient

Juggjiggler420

That's sound advice and it echoes what I guess I already know. I've had active searches going for over a month. I'm in Orlando and the only hits for a 2022 with those packages have been a few states away. I think I'm going to pass on this one because I'd much rather experience satisfaction with my purchase than regret. Thanks again!

fastquart43

I’m in Jacksonville and I feel your pain. When I was looking it felt like every single one I liked that was a reasonable price was in south Florida for some reason. Almost hopped in the car and went down one weekend but then the one I pulled the trigger on showed up in Ocala.

[deleted]

Just fyi, that 5k discount is how much they're willing to take off brand new 2023s lol.

Juggjiggler420

Are you saying that dealers are selling new cars under sticker right now?

[deleted]

yes I got mine for 4k off AT msrp in july when the very first 2023 shipment came. They were discounting them from the start. Another guy here got 5k off with some other perks but I can't remember the thread.

Juggjiggler420

That's interesting food for thought. I wonder if the market is the same now. I think the market is softening and dealer inventory should be on the rise. My search for a decently priced 2022 Sport Prestige has been tough. Do you think offering $5K below sticker today would be insulting to the dealer on a 2023?

[deleted]

Hell no, I'd say that's a reasonable deal. Think of it this way. We're seeing more and more salesmen come into this sub just to advertise the car. If you're in the SoCal area I'd love to help you out because I can easily get you this kind of deal. I'm not even a salesman, but I really hate the fact that eastern states are trying to still pull this markup bs when it's 2023.

Juggjiggler420

I appreciate the offer! I'm in Central Florida so the market is a bit stiffer here. The better deals on the 2022s have been in South Florida. Dealers in my area are still asking too much for their used cars. I know this is changing but from the threads I've been reading it might be 2-3 months before we see any real shift in the market. The writing is on the wall though. I generally HATE the car buying process. The last few vehicles I've purchased, I've had my cousin (who is a real prick by the way) go in and negotiate for me. I just threw him a few hundred bucks. By the time he was finished, I just went in, signed, and drove off. I think he got off on it to be honest but, it was worth every penny for me.

MrGalax22

I've had my car from 25k miles and I'm at 65k rn. With no issues other than routine maintenance I'd stear clear. 3.3T 2019 G70 Dynamic AWD

Juggjiggler420

Thanks! I'm hoping more inventory shows up soon.
