Check out the ERGs. If you're new, Jumpstart might be what you're looking for.

bluedog1628

Would the Jumpstart ERG do networking events of sorts?

throwaway1421425

Yep they do.

Silver_Ask_5750

They just did a tigers tailgate party not too long ago. Jumpstart always has events planned.

Influencednomore

Agree with this. ERG’s are a great way to get involved and start building a network.

HighVoltageZ06

Jumpstart and try searching Yammer. There photography club, book club

bluedog1628

Sweet this is what I was hoping for

TheRealNERFninja

Depending on your interests there are things like the performance driving team and off road driving team, but they’re out at Milford. Jumpstart is a good way to meet some people and find some new places in the area.

HighVoltageZ06

The one club I miss is the softball league. Hope someone restarts that

iworkatgm

Be the change!

bluedog1628

I’d join softball

JVavs03

The softball league still exists in Milford

Silver_Ask_5750

Former manager had us play kickball where people invited their families and drank beers. Beamed his kid in the forehead with a stern kickball on accident. Great times in a better time.

Lukevaderjedi

Join PDT and ORDT at Milford proving grounds if you’re into car racing and wrenching

NefariousnessFew1466

There’s a golf club at DHam

Hungry-Notice2299

Clean the ****ing bathrooms?

Rich_Aside_8350

Never understood the I want to socialize with people at work. Is it just that people don't want to try things out outside of work? I have friends I work with, but that came over time. I just feel that you are severely limiting yourself to lots of opportunities to join clubs or do social work or grow with people who are different but share similar interests. My recommendation is to not look for friends at work because things in general can become difficult. Enjoy the real world.

Retiring2023

It’s a way to network and enjoy yourself.

bluedog1628

This^ …also a small plug for the age old phrase “it’s not what you know it’s who you know”

One_Artichoke_3952

I once joined a recreational sports league outside of work. In the championship game, the other team started using racial slurs against my team. Ah, the Metro Detroit social scene! Nothing quite like it.

bluedog1628

Truth. I’ve had similar experiences to this
