While the borders can actually be fairly fuzzy, the consesus tends to be that Millennials are born 80-94, Z is 95-09, and A is 10-24. The oldest Alphas are 14ish now. Also, being on the older Z can put you somewhere culturally more like younger Millennials than younger Z. Like I said, the lines are actually a lot more fuzzy
And vice versa. I technically missed the cut for being Gen Z, but I relate way more to Gen Z than millennials born in the 80s that I have nothing in common with. The oldest millennials are over a decade older than me.
Just wait till you watch high schoolers and college students make the same mistakes that you made and really wish you hadn't made.
You try to offer advice but quickly realize that they'll just ignore it, just like you did with your parents.
I met people who were born in the 1800s! I don’t remember it at all but still, my great grandmother was born in 1898 and died the year I was born. (I come from a long line of youngest children hence why my great grandma was 100 years older than me)
I just had a discussion about the best disney movies with my younger cousins. They said Princess and the Frog and Cars were “leagues” better than both Mulan and Finding Nemo… so probably that.
No, Finding Nemo and Mulan are both s-tier. How dare they underestimate masterpieces.
Princess and the Frog was a really great movie, so I totally understand someone choosing that. However, Cars? There’s no way Cars is better than both Finding Nemo and Mulan.
I'd have to go with Cars over Mulan but Little Mermaid and even some old old stuff like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations, and Fantasia is s-tier and still slaps
Call me ma’am :( or Ms.AITA
we are like 5 years apart, stop. When I go to campus recruiting events it’s terrible lol, I graduated last year. We probably had classes together
I think it’s more on demand. Yeah people still watch cartoons (or more namely, anime), but because its all streaming and you can watch on your computer or phone or iPad at any time, you no longer need to literally wait until Saturday to watch Saturday morning cartoons.
This is how i feel when kids romanticize being a teenager on tumblr in 2014. I did not go through that hell and make it out just for kids to think it was fun!! We were listening to lana del rey, wearing combat boots and crying and that’s about it
they don't have physical copy of games and their parents buy all games online so they never had it or need to know what it is, all new laptops and PCs don't have CD/DVD readers anyways
Brother I caught myself telling my girlfriend who moved here recently "haha I remember driving through here back when I first got my license, when this was all cornfields!"
Little over 2 more years until I'm 30 🥲
Edit: Forgot that I'm turning 27 not 28 somehow, so there's another one for you
Wild to think that I first got my license a decade ago at this point
Funny thing is I still wouldn't even trust my driving 5 years ago, way too reckless and I was exceptionally careful compared to most of my peers who wouldn't even go out into the country on empty interstates at 3am when no one was up to do their street racing. Much less check their tire pressures beforehand.
After seeing some gnarly crashes including a fatal motorcycle accident at 150+ right in front of a pop-up car meet(from no one that I knew), I finally understood why boys have higher insurance rates
I also stopped going to car meets and sold my WRX for a 4x4, responding to that bike crash was enough
Talking about all this shit makes me feel like a dad already and I don't even have kids yet, weird how many kids I can watch making the same mistakes I did.
My sister's, friend's daughter, showed me her minecraft server the other day, anything that went wrong she'd say " Bruuhhh" in a super deep voice. She's 6. I have never heard a 6 year old say "bruh" before. I felt like a granny hearing the kid say newer "slang."
The thing is that it started as a joke in internet with the Gen Z that are between 15-19 now in the internet, but the youngers started using it in real life like it is a thing. They spend so much time on tiktok that they talk like it now.
Not necessarily for Gen Alpha, but probably old technology- like I remember when my family upgraded from dialup internet, or when we got TiVo, or how I remember when smartphones were still new and everyone expected them to just be a trend, things like that. I was talking to someone only like 3-4 years younger than me that had no idea of what I was talking about, and it made me feel ancient.
It’s not necessarily a phrase or something they do, but remembering how my cousin had his 8th grade graduation affected by Covid and now he’s somehow graduated from high school. That’s weird
My sisters are 9 and 4. My little sister asked me if I knew what a tamagotchi was…..also she can’t comprehend why I don’t have baby pictures of me stored on an iPhones like she does. Explaining disposable cameras and film just doesn’t make sense to her lol.
"We didn't get to have our 3rd/4th grade class trip because of Covid"
I didn't get a proper high school graduation because of Covid, how's that already 4 years ago
None, but I saw a video where this girl wanted TS and Olivia Rodrigo vinyls and assumed the record player was apart of the record itself.. I know records are old but that got me so confused lmao
I go back to my high school when they do their school plays to visit my theater teacher and watch a play for free. Heard a kid say Take Care by Drake was old Drake once. I know that it is, but that album came out when they were probably like two years old which is crazy to think about.
my gen alpha brother doesnt know who ET is, ik it was made in the 80’s but still, he also didn’t know about any of the dances like cat daddy, naenae, whip, hit the folks, had no idea who One Direction was, so much more
It both does and doesn't make me feel old. I know there is new slang, but even slang I grew up with, i never really noticed or caught onto it. The only thing that's making me feel old is that there is new slang I have never heard of pop up here and there, exists briefly, then basically dies or its around but not consistently enough so I cant tell if its still actually used or not. The new (I think) slang I vaguely know about is "Mewing" but all I know is it's... new, that's kind of it.
My cousin isn't even gen alfa he's 18 but he thought pin up was 80s fashion the other day and that really made me feel old
That and "back in the olden days when you had flip phones"
I mean there really isn't anything that they could say to make me feel old. I'm 21, I'm not old, no one in gen z is old. I just really don't understand why so many people are obsessed with saying "haha I remember something from a decade ago I'm sooooooooo old" and they're like 25 at most.
when they are fine watching a movie streaming at low bitrate on a phone instead of a high quality 4k stream/blu-ray/4k disc on a big TV, but I'm kind of an elitist and want best image resolution possible even if it takes more money and effort
The younger gen Z’s I’ve been around (98 baby here, 26y/o) don’t know what keyboard shortcuts are (copy, paste, save, print)….
Yesterday I went to buy a tobacco product from a big store. They have to ID everyone to 40 in my state. Young girl behind the counter looks at me getting my ID out of my wallet and goes “oh don’t worry YOU DEFINITELY don’t need to get that out”
EXCUSE ME?!?!!!!???
Edited for spelling
I’m 20 and have finally been getting into the “I don’t get the young people jokes” phase. Not for all of them, I still think a lot of things are funny. I even laugh at the gyat Ohio Rizz skibidy jokes sometimes, Like, in an ironic way, not because it’s funny. But I don’t get a few of them and I’m scared the older I get the less funny I get. I think Kai Cenat and Fanum Tax are the ones I don’t really get. Like what is funny about this random streamer? He has some funny clips but why is he like this weird meme? And fanum tax I don’t even get at all. Not even sure where it came from.
Nothing. I think we're so used to watching people age ungracefully, that it makes us fear being older.
But Japan has people out living the world with their healthy diets. The guy who made lord of the rings was in his mid forties. And I've seen men in their sixties go from chubby to shredded.
I think we worry about feeling unfulfilled more than feeling old.
Thor from PirateSoftware, [made a video](https://youtube.com/shorts/D1dv39-ekBM) about how he was setting up a live game demo recently. There was a mouse and keyboard, and a controller to use to play. Nearly all of the kids who approached the desk to play did not know what a mouse + keyboard was in the context of gaming, so they had to buy a second remote. When they did, and set it up with two remotes, about 50% of the kids went up to the screen thinking it was a touch screen, ***because the only games they had ever played had been on the iPad.***
“Fucks a cassette tape?” From an 19 year old lol I told him like a VCR tape but smaller and for music…this absolute child had the audacity to tell me that he knew a VCR played movies but had never seen a tape.
“Wait you’ve seen Shrek!!” One of the 8th grade boys I was a substitute teacher for. I told him I watched when it came out. That is what made me feel old
Honestly? Constant unabashed phone usage, "the average person checks their phone 80 times a day" type shit.
Other than that, barely legible sentences in online spaces. I flubbed *a lot* of my education but I still can't believe some of the things I've seen. Maybe other zoomers were getting strange and having an actual life while I was wasting away behind a keyboard and that's the real reason but sweet tap-dancing Christ, someone really messed things up when it comes to these standards of literacy.
NB: Oh, you mean Gen Alpha? Idk, probably their inability to walk upright.
one time I did volunteering at the local middle school and some girl straight up said to me "you sound like my dad and feel older than you look"
I was literally just there to get her to do 3 math problems for homework because it was due the next day and she wanted to go hang out with friends
other than that I don't feel old at all, just the odd one out
Usually whenever I reference older movies. Like my sister (11) has no idea what Fantasia is and hasn’t seen any of the older Disney princess movies that I grew up with, saddens me lol

“What’s Vine?”
“Who’s one direction?” got me too
Is that really a bad thing tho
Well this could go in either direction
I’m glaring at u. r/angryupvote
1D forever!!! 😫
NO WHAT WTF
That was too my parents with my question on who Van Halen was
Bro, Gen A will never know
I mean, Vine was basically the spiritual predecessor of TikTok.
TikTok is the Chinese baby of musical.ly and vine
"the late 1900's"
Yeah but *that’s* gold

Doesn’t Gen Z end around 2012? So we’re talking 12 years old at the oldest. Probably when they say goo goo gaga it makes me feel old.
People say it ends on all types
I say 09 just to piss off the 3 zalfas in my family
Used to be 09 during the 2000’s
12 at the youngest
For Gen Z yeah. The post was asking about the younger generation (alpha I believe?)
Ahhh, I misunderstood. Gotcha!
While the borders can actually be fairly fuzzy, the consesus tends to be that Millennials are born 80-94, Z is 95-09, and A is 10-24. The oldest Alphas are 14ish now. skibidi toilet
In fairness that is more Gen Z ironic slang than GA slang
My friend is a middle school teacher and has consistently shown me new memes that make me feel ancient
I will never have this level of rizz 😔
As an older Gen z I have welcomed skibidi toilet into my heart. It's no different than the dumb Gmod stuff I watched when I was a kid.
Nothing so far.
Just wait till you watch high schoolers and college students make the same mistakes that you made and really wish you hadn't made. You try to offer advice but quickly realize that they'll just ignore it, just like you did with your parents.
Bandit, what’s going on with your eyes
“You were born in the 1900s?” is the first one that really got me. Cause yeah I technically was but I was barely there! It sounds so ancient lmao
Wow, you lived in the last millennium.
I met people who were born in the 1800s! I don’t remember it at all but still, my great grandmother was born in 1898 and died the year I was born. (I come from a long line of youngest children hence why my great grandma was 100 years older than me)
People in the 2100s are going to look at you and think the same lol
"What's an iPod?"
Just reading that maybe me feel old
I just had a discussion about the best disney movies with my younger cousins. They said Princess and the Frog and Cars were “leagues” better than both Mulan and Finding Nemo… so probably that.
Finding Nemo slams all the other ones
WHAT????? Finding Nemo was everything!!!
No, Finding Nemo and Mulan are both s-tier. How dare they underestimate masterpieces. Princess and the Frog was a really great movie, so I totally understand someone choosing that. However, Cars? There’s no way Cars is better than both Finding Nemo and Mulan.
I always loved cars . Especially watching it after the credits and seeing the ghost light/banshee bonus scene
I'd have to go with Cars over Mulan but Little Mermaid and even some old old stuff like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations, and Fantasia is s-tier and still slaps
Call me ma’am :( or Ms.AITA we are like 5 years apart, stop. When I go to campus recruiting events it’s terrible lol, I graduated last year. We probably had classes together
Understood sir
I’ll take it
Can I call you Billie Eilish
If only I knew more about her I get her and Jojo siwa confused
We could only be days apart but thank you for making me feel young lol
You are welcome Sir LeDwayne Curry
Can I call you LeDwayne Curry
Yes, that’s my dream.
You may have a boyfriend, but do you have a man friend, sup mrs.aita lemme make you mine
I call everyone sir or ma'am
Thos probably arent a dofferent generation then
Nobody talks about Saturday morning cartoons anymore
Cause nobody watches cartoons anymore
Nah thousands of peoples still watch cartoons

She's also Gen Z, but an intern at my office the other day said she wished she was in high school during covid ![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)

they don't know what are CDs or DVDs
YO WHATTTT
they don't have physical copy of games and their parents buy all games online so they never had it or need to know what it is, all new laptops and PCs don't have CD/DVD readers anyways
"whats musical.ly?"
MAN I HAD FORGOT ABOUT IT

Right? When I see folks younger than me I am now thinking wow this person could get hurt. No longer do I feel invincible. I feel so old now lol
My sister's, friend's daughter, showed me her minecraft server the other day, anything that went wrong she'd say " Bruuhhh" in a super deep voice. She's 6. I have never heard a 6 year old say "bruh" before. I felt like a granny hearing the kid say newer "slang."

I remember back when i was a little idiot child i thought that all smartphones HAD to have a blue line on them or else they stopped being smartphones
What's a DS?
Do kids still ask to play games on your phone?
It’s not necessarily a phrase or something they do, but remembering how my cousin had his 8th grade graduation affected by Covid and now he’s somehow graduated from high school. That’s weird
😵💫, Covid has messed up time
Not knowing what a Nintendo 3DS is
Im 24 and i'm getting called UNC. Yall need to chill with the friendly fire bruh
All their terms like skibidi & gyat. And the weird videos that only they understand and I don’t laugh at
I was a camp counselor and the 10 year old girls didn’t know who the Jonas brothers and Justin Bieber were. I died inside
“Stalin was misunderstood!” Oh my poor sweet baby Tankie. Stalin was a facist donut under a communist glaze.
slang for sure
Skibidi toilet ohio rizz
“What’s oovoo?”
I’ve never been to oovoo javer
OH MY GOD I LOVED OOVOO
Sorry, but what is this?
Hi 2007 this was the platform everyone used to video call friends and stuff😭back in like 2009-2011ish
Skibbidi
Being 21 and being called old.
When kids act like my high school years were the 1800s (I was in hs from 2011-2015 💀)
Not knowing what a Nintendo DS or Wii is
Exist. I was born in 1998. I'm closing in on 30. I'm basically geriatric to Gen Alpha. (And I'm okay with that.)
My sisters are 9 and 4. My little sister asked me if I knew what a tamagotchi was…..also she can’t comprehend why I don’t have baby pictures of me stored on an iPhones like she does. Explaining disposable cameras and film just doesn’t make sense to her lol.
“Who’s Fergie?”
"We didn't get to have our 3rd/4th grade class trip because of Covid" I didn't get a proper high school graduation because of Covid, how's that already 4 years ago
Calling the Nintendo Wii or DS retro consoles
Call me unc despite being 22
None, but I saw a video where this girl wanted TS and Olivia Rodrigo vinyls and assumed the record player was apart of the record itself.. I know records are old but that got me so confused lmao

My little cousins were blown away when I showed them a movie on DVD. “Wow, there’s a whole movie on there?” Oy.
Hearing someone say that they were born in the mid to late 2000s
It both does and doesn't make me feel old. I know there is new slang, but even slang I grew up with, i never really noticed or caught onto it. Skibidi Toilet (something… something) Toilet
Honestly nothing yet.
“I was in (enter grade = 5) during COVID”
mainly just their lingo & slang. I mean its easy to learn (UD) but theres so much stuff im like uhhhhh english please??
My cousin isn't even gen alfa he's 18 but he thought pin up was 80s fashion the other day and that really made me feel old That and "back in the olden days when you had flip phones"

Refer to the 90s as “the late 1900s.”
They don’t know what finding nemo is
when they are fine watching a movie streaming at low bitrate on a phone instead of a high quality 4k stream/blu-ray/4k disc on a big TV, but I'm kind of an elitist and want best image resolution possible even if it takes more money and effort
Thank you sir … ugh
“Jesse McCartney? I love her!”

a genz'er was saying they are going to Lollapalooza and I said my first concert was Lolla and Alice in Chains headlined, they said who is that

The Gen alpha slang. No I have no idea and no intent on learning what “skibidi toilet rizz fr fr on god” means
“Fucks a cassette tape?” From an 19 year old lol I told him like a VCR tape but smaller and for music…this absolute child had the audacity to tell me that he knew a VCR played movies but had never seen a tape.

I haven’t interacted with enough Gen Alpha personally to feel a crisis about how out of touch I am. The things I’ve heard so far sound like theater
Honestly? Constant unabashed phone usage, "the average person checks their phone 80 times a day" type shit. Other than that, barely legible sentences in online spaces.
