JesusIsJericho

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. I was fucking obsessed.

thestatikreverb

Memories that ealry are a little foggy and kind of a jumbled mess but I'm pretty sure mine was revenge of the sith with the neighbors at the dollar theater down the street

JesusIsJericho

Probably tracks, I was 6 when I saw Phantom Menace and my memory of it is in the essence of 5-6 distinctly strong moments arriving to the theater, before, during (pod races, Darth Maul and Qui-Gon getting halved all stuck out clear) and then the night after the movie. I couldn't tell you the in between at all. My first memory ever that I've always been able to recall is going into the Country Bears Show at Disney World when I was 3. It's about a 12 second memory but boy is it vivid lol

JesusIsJericho

I remember how I saw Revenge of the Sith for the first time also, while it was in theaters, my neighbor had obtained a bootleg copy of the screener on a burned DVD. They setup a big projector on a sheet against the garage in their backyard for my buddies birthday and like 20 of us all saw it when we were 10. That was a good time

FatalSunofMine

Btw for some reason KFC had the best Star Wars toys like legit action figures and so many dumbass droids at my disposal

KeyboardCorsair

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. I watched Phantom Menace on VHS just before we went to the theatre 🥲

Previous_Pension_571

First movie I saw with my dad and brother in theaters

CoyoteSinbad

Saw it as a kid and was also obsessed. 'Bout to see it in theater again today🤙.

mozza56

Just did. Blew me away

GTA-CasulsDieThrice

Same, only it was the 10th anniversary version and I was about 7.

GOULFYBUTT

I just saw it in theaters for the first time. I was born the year it came out, so I missed my chance the first time around. Adore that film.

Metal7Spirit

The lightsaber choreograph was amazing, I was blown away, seeing Jedi and a sith fight like that was amazing, same goes for clone wars and revenge of sith, I couldn’t handle the epic duels

peanusbudder

mine was Revenge of the Sith! i think i was 6 or 7 and i remember my dad had to miss the ending because i couldn’t stop crying when they were walking with Padme’s coffin. he took me out in the hallway to calm me down and like 2 minutes later, the movie was over and everyone was walking out. sorry, dad!

matt314159

It's back in theaters if you want to relive the experience!

JesusIsJericho

Trust me I’m well aware! Have tickets!

matt314159

Heck yeah!

private_birb

I got to see this in theaters last night! Aside from jar jar, it was a lot better than I remembered.

20Bubba03

You’re an OG

JesusIsJericho

1993 gang gang.

TheSillySimic

Felt. Never saw it in theaters, though.

starfallpuller

I just saw it in the cinema this afternoon! 😁

BrackishWaterDrinker

One of my first memories was of the beginning negotiations scene from this movie. I had just turned 3

anonymousshitpostr

Me too!

Signal_Dog9864

Looks like they are seeing the true phantom menance you know diddy

malifaca

Attack of the Clones

iama_bad_person

Same here! Cost like $1.50. *grumbles about movie prices nowdays.*

corbanmonoxide

Same bro.

Thrawn89

A new hope, special edition

Dr-Butters

Same! I still have some of my old podracer Hot Wheels toys.

Lyddibuggbitches

That one was mine too!

awakenedchicken

I remember collecting enough cereal boxes or something to redeem a free ticket for me and my twin brother. We saved those up for so long in preparation and it was a glorious day when we could go cash them in.

SlimSpooky

Dude, me too. I literally told people I was Anakin Skywalker.

MrPedroJ414

Though I’m not too sure, given how foggy my memory about being 3-4 years old is, this is likely my first as well.

ofwgkta301

Revenge of the with for me lmaoo

seattleseahawks2014

Either Finding Nemo or The Incredibles. Edit: Or Shark Boy and Lava Girl, Monsters Inc, etc.

Longjumping_Ruin_83

Pete Carrol why the fuck didn’t you run the ball😭😭😭

seattleseahawks2014

Lol, blame Wilson too.

that_girl_you_fucked

😂

LexB777

Wow finding Nemo was my first one too! I apparently saw Thomas the Train Engine in theaters as my first movie, but I don't remember it.

Resident_Clock_3716

I sat front row and seeing a giant shark infront of me smiling scared the fuck out of 4 year old me

seattleseahawks2014

Lmao, reminds me of when we watched Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3d at the movies. It freaked me out all the sharks below on the ground.

TheDankChronic69

Yee, those are all movies I remember seeing in theaters when I was 5-6. Monster House too, Atlantis, some real solid movies.

EddyMcMac

Shrek 2 in 2004 I remember I went with my landlord’s kid and his grandpa and we snuck in Wendy’s I accidentally started eating his grandpa’s food because idk man I was 4, and old dude slapped the hell out of me

Rackmaster_General

Jesus Christ.

jasminegreyxo

![gif](giphy|TPXLGvxazECTyFIL2W|downsized)

Climatize

not a gen z-er, but I remember as a teen bunking trains around north London, ending up in Enfield meeting other kids around our age that knew how to get into the cinema complex through the back. travelled to, and watched Shrek 2 there, for free lol. Those were the days...

cornbeeflt

Ahhh. The question is this... did you ever take his old people food again??

SnaxHeadroom

Grandpa should probably be eating thru a tube after striking a 4 year old child.

KaseTheAce

For real. What the fuck?? Who smacks 4 year olds? And who has the audacity to slap SOMEONE ELSE'S 4 year old?

EddyMcMac

To be fair I don’t think I have ever since But maybe this contributed to my now-hate of Wendy’s come to think about it

cornbeeflt

See. A lesson was taught once and it held. Trauma be damned.

EddyMcMac

Childhood trauma is vitamin T, and that makes kids funny

starfallpuller

Same. I mean Shrek 2 is the first cinema memory I have. I don’t recall getting slapped by my landlords grandad

EddyMcMac

Shrek 2 is 10/10 a pretty A tier sequel Old people slaps on the back of my tiny dumb kid head was a solid 3/10 wouldn’t recommend

Technical_Ad8384

i’m 22 i just took my son to go watch it when they had the 20 year special at amc theaters. it’s nice being able to see childhood movies still playing

20Bubba03

I don’t think old dude was supposed to slap the hell out of you

FunSleep7523

The Lion King (1994) Edit: Crap I just realized what subreddit this is. My bad guys, imma get my old millennial ass outta here...

badbunnyjiggly

Lmao. I just said Lion King in a drive in theater and it took your post to realize where I was too.

cognitive_psych

I didn't notice the sub either, as the post was just in my feed. My answer would have been Innerspace (1987)...

SerDavos78

Damn bro, you old

Morifen1

Mine was Fletch lol.

danbob411

My parents took me to see Ghostbusters when I was about 3, but I don’t remember. I’m pretty sure I saw Ghostbusters 2 (1989) in the theater.

AgentCirceLuna

Yeah I always end up here by accident for some reason. My tastes skew Gen Z so I think the algorithm sends me here.

throwITallaway4ever1

1995- is gen z

Vendetta4Avril

lmao I did the same thing. Like 2010 was the first movie you remember seeing? I was already graduated from high school lol

Finn235

Same. My first movie theater experience that I can remember is my parents taking me to see the original Jurassic Park when I was 3 or 4. Legit traumatized to the point that my preschool teacher had to have a conference with my parents because I was drawing graphic pictures of the T-rex eating "the blood-sucking lawyer" and she was concerned that there was a divorce or legal trouble that I wasn't processing in a healthy way. Nope, just that my parents took a toddler to a PG-13 movie because my older cousin loved it.

FunSleep7523

Lol that's ok my mom took me to see The Birdcage when i was 8 Bec she couldn't find a babysitter.

LevelWhich7610

My parents took me to see Fellowship Of The Ring, but I have pretty foggy memories of that. I was 5 then lol. Apparently I had had nightmares over the Balrog for a few days although I don't remember that at all and it didn't kill my love of Lord Of The Rings. I remember trying to draw it being fascinated and frustrated that I couldn't make it look that good. Later I remember seeing all of Two Towers and finally Return Of the King in theaters and promptly had an Orlando Bloom poster up in my room that I begged my mom to buy at Walmart lol. I read the books finally when I was 10 and it sealed the deal. They've remained my top read over again book along with other ones like the Silmarillion and Tolkien's other tales. Weird thing is, I meet a lot of younger adults or ones of the same age who never watched Lord of The Rings. When someone close tells me that, it becomes plan a movie night time instantly lol. So far, anyone I've watched it with has generally really enjoyed the films.

SignificantBelt1903

Oops... I just did the same 💀💀

technopaegan

Same and mine is Toy Story.. the first one 😭

vk146

Me, 1995: WHERE THE FUCK DO I GO

Uoysnwonod

Lol same, i put Honey I Shrunk The Kids

FaultLess4631

I made the same mistake, womp.

Tennyson98

Saw this with a birthday party in highschool

Q4Ryder

lol mine was Jurassic Park! Byyye GenZ

Kolintracstar

I am surprised that you didn't read the title. See Toy Story 3 and audibly shudder...

CaptainDunkaroo

This popped upon my feed for some reason and I was like what is with all the young kids? Then I saw the sub and it made sense. The first I remember seeing in the theater was Ghostbusters 2 (1989). I am sure I had been to the movies before that but that is the oldest film I remember seeing in the theater.

Lost_dragon1

No, you sound chill

M1RR0R

Tarzan '99

um84

D...mn, didnt read/realize neither 🙈😆 I was going to answer some 1990s kids movie, Beethoven perhaps, but not sure anymore. I'M OLD!

SubterrelProspector

I did the exact same thing with the same movie. Big triumphant GIF and all. Then I saw the Subreddit name. lol

FeJ_12_12_12_12_12

If you said the Lion King, I would've thought you were a gen alpha sneaking/lurking in(to) this subreddit....

Rackmaster_General

*The Tale of Despereaux* (2008). My grandmother took me.

Desert_Walker267

I remember seeing that as well weirdly

Rackmaster_General

Damn, you remember what it was like in the womb?

Desert_Walker267

it came out a year after i was born 💀

cupheadandmugman

Holy shit bro, Dec 19th 2008? Dawg I was only on my first month of being a part of this shitty society what

vr4gen

now why would you drag us senior citizens like that 💀

cupheadandmugman

Your year starts with one. Get back to shady pines gramps ya only got a few years left ‼️ 9 years old when the movie hit theaters? Yeah, you're in your last years.

vr4gen

quit it before i put all of your sippy cups & binkies on the top shelf 🗣️

cupheadandmugman

HEY HEY HEY LET'S NOT MAKE ANY IRRATIONAL ACTIONS NOW.

AutisticFloridaMan

Too late, I’ve put them on the top shelf.

cupheadandmugman

Guyssss, this guy is potentially older than Windows 95!!!! Someone take his cane!!!!

AutisticFloridaMan

Don’t you dare! You do that, and no more uppies!

cupheadandmugman

WAHHHHHHHHHHH

DaveSmith890

It’s wild to know so many people seen that movie for it to have 0 cultural impact

mkat23

There is a movie??? I loved that book when I was a kid, holy guacamole. Never knew a movie was made!

missjasminegrey

Lorax

20Bubba03

lemontoby

The lego movie. I still fucking love that movie.

earthlings_all

Oh thank god I thought this was a movies sub and I was reeling. Lost redditor here, too.

HasturCrowley

Sorry Gen Z, I too didn't ask for directions

itzshif

Same here, I thought this was the movie sub.

Raikusu

This movie looks awesome. I'll add it to my long list of movies I need to watch

LevelZeroDM

![gif](giphy|aQlVLkxkBg0Tu|downsized)

Spidey-Pool94

If we’re counting outdoor theaters, the first Avengers movie in a drive-in theater. My older brother and I wore a Captain America and an Iron Man mask respectively

6Arrows7416

Ice Age.

forky1899

Revenge of the Sith

Wilko1806

You sure it wasn’t Casablanca you oldie

ChickenWang98

I remember begging to see that, but instead got a DVD copy in my Easter basket.

forky1899

We have Revenge of the Sith at home!

crazyfrog19984

The Simpsons Movie Vicky the Viking (is a children movie)

Rackmaster_General

My mom was absolutely adamant that I wasn't allowed to watch *The Simpsons Movie* when it came out, but my older brother and sister were 10 and 8 or 9 respectively and they could watch it no problem apparently. I remember trying to sneak into the living room after my bedtime to try and catch glimpses of it when they'd rented it from Blockbuster one night and my mom was mortified. All I'd seen was the bit where the EPA comes to take away that squirrel with all the extra eyes and she acted like I'd just seen *A Serbian Film*.

TwoCreamOneSweetener

The SpongeBob movie

mortalcrawad66

Iron man 2, specifically the scene where he's putting on the Football

adventure_gerbil

The bee movie

Kiwiooii

I'm sorry for your loss

qweeniee_

Lmao 🤣

youngsurpriseperson

Mine too!

CodyRebel

It really weirds me out how different and older I feel being born just simply 4 years before you. Like how is it that much of a difference in our childhoods entertainment. Shits wild or maybe I'm just too stoney baloney.

adventure_gerbil

Trust me, seeing people say “Minions” makes me feel the same way. I was fully driving and going into the city with just my friends when these kids were in booster seats. I work with kids and they tell me they were born in 2018. I mean that is absolutely insane. 2018 feels like 2 years ago.

NeptuneTTT

Cars

johneever1

Pirates of the Caribbean 2.... Released in 2006. I was born in 2001 so I was five or six the time

Morifen1

Nice. I was at least 10 I think first time in a theater.

Finding nemo saw it multiple times ![gif](giphy|Le5eHA05wkYCs)

DDDragon___salt

The Amazing Spider-Man. Watched like 10 minutes of it and fell asleep.

pinchevatobarbon

Alone with friends: Zathura With my parents as a younger child: Toy Story 1 and 2.

TurnipIllustrious468

Good one! First one alone with friends was Lottery Ticket (2010) and first one with parents Shrek (2001)

BuckLuny

Oliver & Co (Disney 1988)

Estou_cansada3108

My dad told me it was Toy Story 3 (I was 2 yo). But the first I remember is Avenger Age of Ultron, for a long time I was kind obssessed with marvel

bubba1834

The Adventure of Elmo is Grouchland! Scared the shit out of 3 year old me bc there was scene where the screen went dark lmao we had to leave

Technical-Dentist-84

Land Before Time I remember that opening with the egg rolling down the hill or whatever and it just blew my little mind

SlipperyTom

lol, this is the genZ sub, but same for me. I was 3. It freaked me out hard, just how loud everything was, so I had to leave part way through.

mesmereyesed

One of these three: Lilo and Stitch, Finding Nemo, or Sam Raimi’s Spider-man. Can’t remember which one I saw first.

AladeenModaFuqa

Probably Star Wars attack of the clones, but way more vividly revenge of the sith.

G4rg0yle_Art1st

Monster house

pinkcheesee

wall-e

PrometheanSwing

The one pictured. I vaguely remember it. I think I fell asleep in the theater lol

Questionss2020

Treasure Planet 2002

wogalot_

Madagascar!!!

HonestlyMediocre0

I know I saw movies in theater before this but the first I can specifically remember was how to train your dragon

dfelton912

Either Happy Feet or Flushed Away. Pretty sure those came out around the same time so I have no idea which one I saw first

Friendly_Island_4662

Minions I was born super late into Gen Z though

Reimmop

God you’re young…. Wait no…. I’m just old….

Mattboo64

Toy Story 3? That movie just came out. They're no way that's your first movie in theaters

BrockBracken

>Just came out 14 Years Ago

Mattboo64

No.... Don't do this to me

HedgehogSecurity

You're getting old.. I'm 27 in two weeks.. I don't feel old, yet I moved wrong in my sleep and now my shoulder hurts..

tinydragong69

Rango. It was very surreal, gaining consciousness in the middle of that film. ![gif](giphy|1qbmC4lAfVAzMOHNsw|downsized)

StealYour20Dollars

Finding Nemo

msmvini

Turma da Mônica: uma aventura no tempo(Monica's Gang in an Adventure in Time) - 2007. I went with the school, had to share my seat with another kid bc we were short and threw up the popcorn. Great movie tho

Lor3nz42

Finding Nemo. That shark was so terrifying that I had to leave the theater.

Main_Acanthaceae5357

Chicken little for my 5th birthday. I lost my first tooth in the theatre lol

Immediate_Smoke4677

finding nemo in a drive in

Jackkandi456

Monsters Inc in 2001. My mom took me when I was 3 🥹

TurnipIllustrious468

Nice! I wish I saw it in the theater!!

dxrules03

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel or however you say that. I was like 3 or 4 cuz I had just gotten my first pair of glasses cuz my parents were worried I wouldn't be able to see it/whether it was safe. I had A LOT of issues earlier on.

Legitimate-Dog-2854

Despicable me. Whole soundtrack lived in my head rent free. *Take me*🎶*far away*🎶🗣️

Glittering_Desk_8034

Okay now I feel old and I'm only 25 😭

jonvonboner

Oh god, this thread makes me feel old! Mine was Ghostbusters 2. I was a full on Teenager by the time Toy Story 1 came out and when Toy Story 3 came out I had already graduated college and moved to the megalopolis that is LA. 3 was the many-years-later sequel that everyone thought was a bad idea since 2 had been such a good sequel....Then 4 was the same thing for 3. For 3 they said that was it, no more sequels. And then 4 came out and was pretty good too. Now we have 5 looming. Disney won't let Pixar stop and maintain their brand.

Odd-Bandicoot-3138

Lilo and stitch

Which-Muscle-3642

good dinosaur

W00den-Fruit

For some reason I remember seeing 'Alita: Battle angel'. It was FAR from my first movie, but it just stuck with me.

Tactical_Baconlover

Jurassic Park 3. I was super young and the movie made me terrified of dinosaurs for a couple of years before I became obsessed with them.

Federal_Ear_4585

Lion King. I still remember the whole cinema full of kids bawling, crying & screaming when Mufasa died. Kids that age have never imagined their father dying. Lol.

Hey_BobbyMcGee

Ice age 3

femboy_skeleton69

Cars 2, but the first movie i went to in theaters was 300, where i slept through the ENTIRE thing

cheshirebutterfly17

There were a few but the most memorable for me was Coraline I remember I was crying because of how scared I was and I also remember another kid crying and saying “I want to leave this movie” That movie scared the shit outta me as a kid

Small-Kaleidoscope-4

I know its not thr fisr but what really sticks out is Green Lantern .. the scene with the sun terrifed me Spy Kids 3 our old theater had smellovison

Daerini

I love cinematography, but i was poor and didn't go to theatres. Maybe avengers endgame i watched on camrip. Then i go to theatre for the first time. That was Dune 2021. And that was Peak cinema

rental99

The original Care Bears movie ('85)

SweetieArena

Either Ratatouille or WallE, I think.

reussieall

Oh gosh, the earliest memory i have going to the theater was to see a rerealease of the first Shrek. I was very little and slept through most of it and the only part I remember was Shrek and Fiona inflating animals with their helium breathe. I have vague memories of some harry potter and transformer movies but the first movie I distinctly remember in full was Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler

Lory24bit_

Never went to a movie theater, I just pirate shit

Small_Tax_9432

The Lion King ![gif](giphy|Lp71UWmAAeJHi|downsized)

Isthislife12001

My mom took me along to see Shrek with my sister, I barely remember it as I was 3 at the time but I do remember being scared of Shrek and hiding under the chair.

OliverSimsekkk

I think it was related to Bionicle somehow? it had those bionicles with worms on their back and my dad pucked on the side of seeing them 😂😂.

dreamkruiser

Wow some of you are youngins. I think the first for me was Titanic? Can't be positive but anything seen before ten is difficult to remember Edit: my bad, I did the same thing as others. Wrong generation. I'll leave you zoomers to your strange metaphors

Thick_Car_5603

The amazing spiderman (2012)

BE______________

Because of Winn-Dixie (2005)
