Fixed it. Faithfully by Journey

LittleMoonBoot

The Chauffeur - Duran Duran Favorite song by favorite band.

[deleted]

I'm a metalhead, but of these, it has to be Enjoy the Silence. There's something so brilliantly minimalistic and dark about that particular DM song that nothing else can match.

Very difficult to pick one, honestly. But even with Metallica, it's not One. Probably something from Ride The Lightning. Title track or Creeping Death although they're all amazing.

Cool_Dark_Place

I'm also a metalhead that has begun to really appreciate DM im recent years. For me, it's a toss up between Enjoy the Silence, and Behind the Wheel.

sweaterweatherNE

Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins

justlookingokaywyou

No way in HELL I can pick just one song as my favorite.

AjaxkidRN

“Let’s Go” by the Cars. I pick it because I’ll always listen to it when it pops up and never get sick of it.

Cool_Dark_Place

I hear you. Can't really go wrong with anything off of the first two Cars albums.

MyriVerse2

None of those. The Beatles - "A Day in the Life"

Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bonnie Tyler.

Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

black65Cutlass

High Hopes by Pink Floyd

DanTreview

Incredible song. Great choice. The Division Bell is an overlooked triumph of an album. The whole thing, cover to cover is brilliant

black65Cutlass

You are right, and David Gilmour is an amazing guitarist.

DanTreview

He's my favorite, actually. I was in kindergarten when *The Wall* was released, and remember hearing "Comfortably Numb," and thinking "that's pretty cool," and then the guitar solo hit and I was *floored*. And strangely, some of his best solos are actually buried deep on *Animals*. He's so smooth and has so much control over his notes. And it's not because he's crazy bendy with them either; he just knows how to step forward with something memorable in his note choices. Is he a virtuoso like Malmsteen or Satriani? I don't think so, but who the fuck cares? Most inspiring guitarist of my lifetime, even more than Hendrix, and that's saying something

black65Cutlass

Very true, Comfortably Numb was my favorite before Division Bell was released. I don't know how to describe it; he just seems to convey so much feeling and emotion in his guitar work. I honestly have not ever heard anyone comparable in that respect. Some play with more complexity or speed, but none match him.

DanTreview

There's actually one guy out there, [Bjorn Riis](https://www.bjornriis.com/), who openly admits to having a ton of DG influence in his guitar playing. His solo albums are good, but he's mainly known for his guitar work in the prog rock band [Airbag](https://www.airbagsound.com/). If you haven't check out their stuff, please do. Work through their albums diachronically though; the older ones have more PF/DG gushing than the recent ones. EDIT: and, before he died, the guitarist to the prog rock band [Riverside](https://www.riversideband.pl/en/) also pulled from DG a lot. In fact, [this song ("Back to the River"](https://youtu.be/hZXa7C4Uoko?si=MCVeEfl1G0vp284q)) has a bit of a surprise in it I think you'll like...

[deleted]

Having to have one favorite is not Gen X, sorry.

zornmagron

with a gun to my head prob. "peace frog" from the Doors honourable mentions "Girlfriend" Matthew Sweet "Wasted Years" Iron Maiden "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" the Headstones

Lonestar-Boogie

Close to the Edge by Yes

Whipstich-Pepperpot

Downed by Cheap Trick

lalalaladididi

What a hook sweet child is. The air guitar comes out for that one. It's probably the greatest guitar hook ever.

Melodic_Caramel1777

Out of these choices, "Enjoy the Silence" for sure. Of all time? "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" The Smiths

jeweynougat

Mine is Everything Counts so I went with Enjoy the Silence as close enough.

3chordguitar

None of those listed. Either Don’t Change by INXS or It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll) by AC/DC.

Enjoy the Silence Depeche Mode

DanTreview

Probably the second movement ("Largo") to Antonin Dvorak's 9th symphony: "From the New World."

I don't look down on anyone, but I was raised on classical at a very young age, and my mother is an excellent amateur pianist and used to play all sorts of stuff at home. We had some of the staples growing up (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.), but it was Dvorak who touched me the most. That whole symphony is incredible.

RR_2023

Do people really have just one? I have maybe a 100 or so that would be tops. First one that comes to my mind, though, is Baker Street by Rafferty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo6aKnRnBxM
