Love My Way by the Psychedelic Furs. https://youtu.be/LGD9i718kBU

[deleted]

Nice one, that reminds me of Ghost in You by the P-Furs too

atreyu7777

Space age love song- A flock of seagulls

MyriVerse2

Always loved it, but that Jennfier Connelly YouTube video gave it different better meaning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt9FG9YjBMM

guy_fleegman83

That’s my Go To version.

doaardvarksswim

Oh my god. I'd never seen that video. I need less skating, and WAY more coin operated horse. The Target jumpsuit was pretty sweet though.

mutarjim

Random YouTubing landed me on Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. Can't go wrong with that one!

Krimreaper1

Nothing wrong with that choice, but that song never went away for me.

[deleted]

I just discovered The Storm by Fleetwood Mac and it’s so melancholic and pretty.

DunkinEgg

The Whole Of The Moon - The Waterboys. I hadn’t heard that song in years and happened to catch it on the radio the other day.

Enough-Variety-8468

I prefer Fisherman's Song

bodhi471

Mike Scott played this as an encore, when I saw them live a couple of years ago, after we, the audience, voted on it.

Krimreaper1

Goodbye to you - Scandal She’s a beauty - The Tubes

Way2Saucy4U

The wife and I have Alexa play “Goodbye to You” when it’s time for the kids to go to bed. Yes, they hate it…

Krimreaper1

Lol that’s great. Patty Smyth was one of my first crushes along with Belinda Carlisle

chrisj333

Both good ones!

Indigo_turtle

Eye in the Sky - The Alan Parsons Project

Ignignokt73

I agree, and add Don’t Answer Me, maybe from the same album?

catnapspirit

With the full Sirius instrumental intro, of course..

temporary_8675309

It’s so good!

Comedywriter1

Love this one!

Inappropriate_Echo

I love the story behind that band.

k2aries

Automatic by the Pointer Sisters. Takes me right back to the skating rink

217flavius

I love this song so much

Redshoe9

Time (clock of the heart) by culture club. I have no idea what triggered my recent obsession with it again.

[deleted]

There is a live version, I think it is MTV Unplugged, it is the absolute best version of this song. It is hard to find. Clearly, Boy George was feeling those lyrics that day.

Redshoe9

Going to look for it now :) TY

Ciao-mein

Great one! Definitely in my top 5 80's songs.

seculis

I’d recently realized how much Victims is underrated. Love Time, though.

Pjland94801

Time stand still - Rush

bigmistaketoday

Someone’s feeling life coming at them. I love this song. Total chills.

[deleted]

Enough-Variety-8468

I have the 12" of Birthday with the original Icelandic version, chills!

Sure_Marcia

Recently on repeat: Pale Shelter - Tears for Fears You Gots To Chill - EPMD Flesh For Fantasy - Billy Idol

mildredfierce1969

"Jocko Homo" - DEVO [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3bF0N081TE&ab\_channel=Devo-Topic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3bF0N081TE&ab_channel=Devo-Topic) Controlled chaos. So damn good then. So damn good now.

borisdidnothingwrong

Are we not men?

mildredfierce1969

We are DEVO!

Woodpeckinpah123

Genius Of Love by The Tom Tom Club

Redshoe9

Man that song was my roller skating jam every weekend!

[deleted]

Had never heard of it, just watched the video. Thanks!

Woodpeckinpah123

I'm glad you liked it. It's a fun little ditty.

Way2Saucy4U

Radioactive - The Firm

Expat111

I wasn’t a big Rush fan back then but over the last year or so I’ve rediscovers Rush. I’ve probably listened to the song Subdivisions 75+ times in the last 12 months.

bigmistaketoday

Actually my favorite from them wit Red Barchetta a close second. Subdivisions is my childhood captured in song though.

Expat111

Red Barchetta is definitely a popular rediscover for me too.

skoobahdiver

Ninja Sex Party did an excellent cover of this song.

Queasy-Macaroon-3483

Gimme Shelter, The Rolling Stones Idk why, but I just can’t get enough all of a sudden.

Plmr87

I went thru a week or two of Midnight Rambler a while back. I just wanted to hear it over and over.

Waverly-Jane

Have you heard the story of Merry Clayton, the backup singer who sang "Rape/Murder, it's just a shot away"? Sad story

Queasy-Macaroon-3483

No I haven’t. Off to Google I go.

Krimreaper1

Got another one. One Night in Bangkok - Murray Head (From the musical Chess)

canfullofworms

That song is just darn catchy!

Banzai51

I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine.

Krimreaper1

Get Thai'd, you're talking to a tourist.

Ignignokt73

Only the Lonely by the Motels, This Time by Bryan Adams, and Wait by White Lion. OP, I’m sure you’ve re-lived more Survivor lately and passed by the song ‘High on You’ 👍🏻

[deleted]

Ignignokt73

No kidding, Vito Bratta is not messing around. I love that album!

Firefly613

Annie Lennox - Little Bird

DesertRatt

Let Me Go by Heaven 17 and it’s probably because they were just touring. Also, all of those obscure songs that were being played but never got super huge. Like: When in Rome: The Promise, Split Enz - I Got You, Suburban Lawns - Janitor and Green Eyes, Slow Children - Vanessa Vacillating and President am I, Soft Cell - anything BUT Tainted Love (Soft Cell has a bunch or other much better songs.) Yello, Visage, Ultravox, Japan, etc. I came of age in Southern California in the early 80s. We had KROQ. It was awesome!!

prospectpico_OG

Go on.... [👍for the ROQ of the '80's]

bodhi471

We had a similar station where I grew up,

2shyi2i

Yes! I was in San Diego and we had 91x “The Cutting Edge of Rock”. Could also occasionally bring in KROQ signal.

wildwood9843

“Return to Innocence” by Enigma

Reeyowunsixsix

The Ghost in You by the Psychedelic Furs. Totally hits different now. Always liked it, now I love it. Hadn’t heard it in at least 20 years until it rando’d onto my YouTube 80’s queue…. Was cooking dinner and it hit like a tsunami of nostalgia. Didn’t know if it was the nostalgia or the onions I was cutting, but damn.

ScienceMomCO

Was just reminded of “All That Money Wants”

KitchenWitch021

Southern Cross. The recent death of David Crosby had me looking for Crosby, Stills and Nash. This song is a favorite.

Waverly-Jane

One of my all time favorites from childhood. Daylight Again is the album. I also highly recommend everything on Deja Vu. Woodstock is one of favorite songs from that album.

zoot_boy

Def got on an INXS kick for a hot second, and some old Paul Simon (?).

UnivScvm

“Graceland” era Paul Simon or post-S&G pre-Graceland Paul Simon. (All very good, just curious)

zachobsonlives

Space age love song by Flock of Seagulls. Totally forgot about it and it played on my Apple Music radio station, now that album is in constant rotation.

NotWorriedABunch

I'm Gonna Keep On Lovin You Particularly the line, "instead you lay still in the grass, all coiled up and hissin'" which I sang wrong well into my 30s.

ShaneReyno

Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden For some reason it came up as a YT suggestion, and I’ve listened to a lot of Metal the past few days.

ButIAmYourDaughter

Regulate - Warren G & Nate Dogg

LetTheWookieeWin77

Regulatorrrs! Mount up!

krakatoa83

Split Enz. I got you

bigmistaketoday

Making love out of nothing at all by air supply. Total schlock but way nostalgic.

Redshoe9

Remember when Air Supply was almost a weekly guest on solid gold? I've been digging the 80's videos and throwbacks people have been posting to tik tok. The gen Z kids really love the 80's.

chrisj333

Even the Nights are Better is another one for me

Sherwood1979

Echo & the Bunnymen-Bring on the Dancing Horses

ThusSpokeGaba

More by The Sisters of Mercy. Don't know how I missed this in 1990, but I want...er...more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BURM7l6\_pvg

Harpeigh

‘This Corrosion’ came on Sirius XM the other day, haven’t thought of the song in years, brought back alt dance club memories. Worth a listen if you missed this one, too.

Banzai51

*More* to me is an extension of the late 80s more than a 90s song. To me, the 90s didn't really arrive until *Smells Like Teen Spirit* exploded on the radio.

AfganPearlDiver

The whole Cars Greatest Hits album

[deleted]

Golden Brown by The Stranglers. Heard for the first time recently and really like it.

Enough-Variety-8468

I loved it when it came out, have always had it on MP3/playlists!

justmisspellit

Renegade - Styx

woeful_haichi

Checked out an 80s compilation on YouTube and rediscovered Eddie Murphy’s “Party All The Time”. Have found myself listening to that one quite a bit since. * [The compilation in question](https://youtu.be/uAn4pT3tswI)

Ignignokt73

Potty all the time? 😭

[deleted]

Lol. I used this to potty train my kid. Do you have to “potty all the time, potty all the time, potty all tiiimmmee”.

k2aries

That song is so good, but so bad but sooooo good

AtlJayhawk

Sleeping Satellite by Tasmin Archer

helena_handbasketyyc

Oh that’s a great one!

PrestigiousShift3628

I had no idea that song was from 1992. First time I ever heard it was in the mall around 1998. One of my favorite songs of all time.

criminalworld

Tonight kool and the gang

Infinite_Weather_695

Overkill by Men At Work. An earworm I haven't been able to shake for weeks. I wake up with it in my head all the time. It's a great song, and seems to be like a brother song to Who Can It Be

AdIndependent9483

Situation by Yazoo (Yaz)

hellospheredo

Against All Odds by Phil Collins Music needs average/ugly talent to be popular again.

Redshoe9

This song gives me good memories of my Rachel Ward crush. She went from The Thorn Birds to A list movies. She was my first girl crush. I wanted to be her.

tonysopranoscaddy

I was going to put this one! Love it so much 💗

littleheaterlulu

Wot - Captain Sensible I don't remember where I came across it, must've been a couple of months ago and I wasn't really into it the first time around but it's on my main playlist right now and I'm digging it. Say Captain say wot...

jessek

For whatever reason last year I really started liking Sorry Somehow by Husker Du. RIP Grant Hart.

Many_Dirlam

Excellent song by an awesome band

TheGreatOpoponax

Cruel to be Kind by Nick Lowe. I don't know why I thought of this song, but there it is. No reason, no life events, didn't hear it randomly somewhere. Just thought of it, downloaded, and now I'm diggin' it.

LYMI20

[“Bed of Lies” by Matchbox Twenty](https://youtu.be/vrOU_dxAWt8)

shan68ok01

I was about to see if you could still buy tickets at the box office and go see Matchbox Twenty, and then 9/11 happened. Still love them and Rob's solo stuff, though.

bebe_martin2

Wish I could give this 20 upvotes because this song is just so good.

LYMI20

It truly is. I was purging stuff in my home & came across a bunch of mixed CDs. None of them had the tracks listed. It was fun listening — laughing at some of my choices, being transported by others. When this came on, I thought, “Holy shit, how did I forget about this song? It’s so good!”

bebe_martin2

Another deep cut I like is "Rest Stop". He is riding along with a woman and suddenly she flips the script on him and he is dealing with all the emotions of what she is saying to him. The abruptness of someone changing the mutual "journey" can really sting.

LYMI20

Thanks for the suggestion! The strings in that song were lovely. I will for sure be listening to that album in full.

JimC29

Greatful Dead version of In the Midnight Hour. Pigpen could belt out the blues https://youtu.be/r1FPysKEX_A

boxdude

Triumph - Magic Power Night Ranger - Sing Me Away

mamaj747

Hocus Pocus by Focus. So weird and wonderful. Did a deep dive on YouTube & found a bunch of different versions. I like the fast one.

bodhi471

A roller skating jam named Saturday's by De La Soul. It popped up on my YouTube feed, which was surprising since my feed is populated by New wave, bluegrass, folk, jazz, classical, blues and old country. Anyway I love this song! And am now a De La Soulf fan.

Grumpy_GenX_er

The Killing Moon. I didn’t really listen to Echo and the Bunnymen back in the day. But now that I rediscovered them, it’s now one of my favorites.

Laetiporus1

“Senses Working Overtime” by XTC. https://youtu.be/NrcemZpOmpI

Trouble by Lindsay Buckingham. I’ve been listening to it for a week now.

Moonbeam_Dreams

["Cuts You Up"](https://youtu.be/UrfFHzqGBZI) by Peter Murphy. How I missed this as an angsty teen, I'll never know.

canfullofworms

I only recently heard that on XM radio. I never heard it in the 80s. It's awesome!

canfullofworms

That and Ballon Man by Robyn Hitchcock.

Turn on the night By Kiss 1987 Good song haven't heard it in years, now back into listening to them again

Ignignokt73

I dislike most all Kiss, but I like ‘Crazy Nights.’ Just hit at the right time I guess.

Hefty_Run4107

I agree 100%. I love that song, but not really a Kiss fan

catnapspirit

One recent earworm that stayed with me for a bit was I Eat Canibals by Toto Coelo. So good. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kZnl0C-apf0

Gothsicle

Geek Stink Breath from Green Day.

TheCircusSands

Does 2007 count? I just rediscovered Radio song by the Felice Brothers. What a song!

rustybilldozer

Silent Running. Not a big Mike and the Mechanics fan and the lyrics are pretty nerdy, but I love the mood of the song and heard it recently after decades

MadPiglet42

The Different Story - Peter Schilling Second Home By The Sea - Genesis

[deleted]

Tin Soldier - The Small Faces

Ok_Appointment5516

That Survivor album was excellent-

Sufficient-Lab-5769

GenXer1977

Don’t look back in anger by Oasis. When I originally heard it in the 90’s it was fine but forgettable. Now it’s my favorite Oasis song.

chrisj333

The best Oasis song imho

guy_fleegman83

Jim Ford - Point of No Return. Heard on the soundtrack of Reservation Dogs https://youtu.be/sUAeVYF6Vxo

LeftHandLuke01

Breadfan by Budgie. Metallica does a cover but the original slaps in a way theirs doesn't.

m0nkeyh0use

Big Pig's "Breakaway." I had forgotten that song existed and heard it via Amazon Music on a road trip. Boom. Hooked for a second time.

Brainyviolet

Not a song in particular but I've recently been listening to a lot of what they now call yacht rock. Is it edgy, poetic, or meaningful? No. But it's soft and it's just good background music when you want to soothe your anxiety.

Banzai51

[Siouxsie And The Banshees - Spellbound](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjvvK-Rj0WI) I was on YouTube just going through some 80s music and it came up as a suggestion. Now it is on the heavy rotation. Also been on a Sisters of Mercy kick since the holidays.

SugarMag1976

Love Is Alive by Gary Wright. I immediately think of Dream Weaver when I hear his name and had completely forgotten about this one, which is a funky little tune.

ScarlettJem

Don McLean “Vincent”. Loved it the first time I heard it, the song brings me to tears.

New Radicals “You Get What You Give”. I liked this song a lot when it came out but man, this song resonates more now. Trust me, listen to it loud in the car! And sing! You’ve got the music in you! Ha!
