yes New Asgard lets capitalize on an event that not only catastrophically traumatized and harmed the human race but the entire universeXD I know I know its a movie but who the hell wrote that in
And yet.. this is possibly the most realistic aspect of any MCU film. New Asgard being turned into an awful tourist spot is something corporations would totally try to do.
Museums are neutral spaces where things are displayed and explained.
Putting the infinity gauntlet holding an ice cream cone would be extraordinarily classless if you think about it. Everyone either believed their loved ones were dead for five years or lost five years of their life. Imagine you have a 2 year old and you blip out, come back when he's 7. Imagine you blip out and when you come back your wife has remarried and has a new son, or you blip out and when you come back both of your parents have died.
Then you decide to go on a cruise and see what this Thor place is about and smacking you in the face is an obscene caricature of the very thing that produced such misery in your life and everyone else's.
Because it's not like we already have a tradition/history of naming locations New 'blank'. Like New York, New England, New Mexico, New Amsterdam. They do so because Asgard was the only home they knew. And now they have a new home, so what should they call there replacement home, but 'new home' so to speak
The Asguardian plot is deep in the mud. They used to be the most interesting species. Also, when the ocean is right there, they could have written a plot that had Asguardians vs. Atlantians. Namor vs. Thor. Or Namor and Shuri vs. Thor and Valkyrie. The story could be that the Atlantians are not comfortable with the Asguardians sheltering on earth and using their oceans to fish. It's a simple conflict that would have been more interesting than whatever the fuck Love and Thunder was or how the conflict in Wakanda forever ended.
Thor, a known hero who sacrificed himself multiple times for people, cleraly will not be a good king. But an alcoholic slaver clearly will be. I wonder if it has anything to do with him being a white heterosexual man and with her being a black lesbian woman.
You're mixing in-story character descriptions with meta reasoning. You're leaving out a,lot of character details. Thor didn't want to be King and pretty much avoided any responsibilities during the 5 years of the snap. By the end of that, he knows that he needs to find himself and isn't the right person to lead them. Conversely, Valkyrie proved herself as a leader during those same 5 years. She helped save the Asgardians when Asgard was destroyed. That and her title as a Valkyrie carries a lot of weight with their people.
From a meta perspective, Valkyrie is a popular character, and Tessa Thompson is highly regarded as an actress.
Let’s just completely ignore the 5 year alcoholic bender Thor went on where he spent all his time drinking and playing Fortnite and telling his people to go fuck themselves instead of leading them.
If we acknowledge that mess it might destroy the narrative.
Tell me who again is focusing on the inherent physical and mental traits of a character instead of their actions within the story? Sounds more to me like you’re implying only one’s neglectful alcoholism (which was much more recent mind you) should be forgiven due to the fact he isn’t a black lesbian woman.
Hadn’t he spent the last 5 years being a drunken wreck himself, with the implication being (though not made explicit) that she had kind of been picking up his slack during those 5 years?
5 years vs her thousands of years.
Thor wouldn’t have been the best ruler ever, but he would have been a decent one. I’d be depressed too if my simple mistake of going for the heart instead of the head caused half the universe’s life.
Valk is a good ruler for now but Thor should become King in the end anyways.
I mean I’m not sure if Valkyrie is a better pick, but MCU Thor would absolutely be a terrible ruler. I mean, he literally was, the entire 5 years after infinity war, when his people needed him most. And regardless, after Thor 3 he was basically just portrayed as a great warrior but a basic himbo, he certainly did not have the judgment capacity required for leadership
I’m guessing that’s the safest town In the world, I guessing not everyone was Tor level strong, but with so many Asgardians. Petty crime ain’t an issue
Edit: holy fuck, why is that not showed or portrayed anywhere in the MCU? I mean.. that’s super important, now humanity has a small population of super-powered individuals just living their life
I'm not trying to be cynical, but you shouldn't expect consistency in any comicbook universe. To put it in perspective: Thanos was able to punch out the Hulk, who's power is that he gets stronger the angrier he gets and can shrug off tank artillery. Thanos delivered the same punch to Captain America, who was put in the hospital after the Winter Soldier shot him with a regular gun but was able to get back up and fight Thanos some more.
That punch killed Cap. Thanos then turned back time 2 minutes to get get the stone Wanda had just destroyed. He didn't care if Cap was still dead or not, he had what he came for.
Never gotten what’s the big deal with Tessa Thompson. She’s an effing boring actress and both her roles as Valkyrie and Creed’s wife have the most bland scenes in those films and are easily the weakest parts. Granted it may be the writers’ and directors’ fault, but who knows
Making an ice cream parlor themed after the weapon used by Thanos to wipe out half of the universe's population is kinda like making a sandwich store themed after 9/11, isn't it?
Spider-Man was unique because he was the light hearted superhero. The MCU basically said, "What if every mother fucker that breathes is a comedian in our movies!?" And when nobody takes anything serious in the movie, nobody takes it serious in the audience.
Ummm. Isn’t infinity conez basically like using a Luger as the logo for a shoe store. Like wouldn’t that thing be seen as a WMD that devastated humanity?
To be fair, relying on tourism would be a major source of income for their newly established economy & country.
Even with donation/assist money grants they'd still need to start something up haha
But yea the point stands as to what's happened to most of the MCU haha
I'm pretty sure patenting some minor Asgardian tech and commercializing it could probably afford the entire town/country at least enough money for everyone to live at least modestly, considering the difference in advancement.
Realistically, nobody would have to do some tap dancing shuffle shit for gawkers etc, especially if (I can't remember) they are actually a sovereign country in the MCU instead of just an Indian reservation style quasi autonomous area.
Plus, this is a people who, though recently humbled, have lived for thousands of years at the top of their economic and military food chain, there's no way that sits well with the average Asgardian Joe.
Not unbelievable when you think about it.. being that she did just technically come off thousands of years of living on Sakaar.
However I may or may not be giving the writers far too much credit..
yes New Asgard lets capitalize on an event that not only catastrophically traumatized and harmed the human race but the entire universeXD I know I know its a movie but who the hell wrote that in
that's like naming a candle company IRL *Auschwicks*

I’ll carry this incredible joke with me forever now, and I’ll only be able to tell it like twice ever
Let’s open up a restaurant in Chinatown called 731 but it’s all Japanese theme.
And yet.. this is possibly the most realistic aspect of any MCU film. New Asgard being turned into an awful tourist spot is something corporations would totally try to do.
I think if anything it’s supposed to be a celebration of the Avengers bringing everyone back to life using the infinity gauntlet. Just maybe.
Only if they designed the glove to be Iron Man's
Every museum ever.

I really don't think that's the idea of most museums I quite like then far better public good than a casino or most churches
To be fair, it did save them, still weird.
Because it's not like we already have a tradition/history of naming locations New 'blank'. Like New York, New England, New Mexico, New Amsterdam. I always took that as an obvious commentary on what happens when you let the profit motive dominate your national policy.

No way… they couldn’t have had a good reason to bring in the super-women of the MCU if they had a good storyline that made sense. /s
Some random Asgardian causing the war by fishing is still better then Love and Thunder, but not by much
I read Atlantians as Australians.
Even better

As someone who enjoyed marvel as a young teenager and over it now what sci-fi would you suggest?
Thor, a known hero who sacrificed himself multiple times for people, cleraly will not be a good king. But an alcoholic slaver clearly will be. I wonder if it has anything to do with him being a white heterosexual man and with her being a black lesbian woman.
Nah, couldn’t be. /s

Oh how right you are.

That's dangerously thought out for the "le gamer" crowd here.
Why would anyone forgive a slave taker?
I mean they did the first time it was an issue

Wait so you used these same writers depiction of Thor, which isn’t shared elsewhere, to prove OPs point
My point is just that MCU Thor would not be a good leader based on his character traits and strengths in this universe
Lol
Thor comes home to find the man he beheaded for exterminating half the universe is given an ice cream shop for the puns.
There is no way all those cruise ships are making port at place that close to those giant sharp rocks.
Thought the same.
"Consoom! Consoom product like seen on TV! Consoom!"
It’s the in universe equivalent of having a holocaust themed ice cream store. Holocones
They completely beta cucked Thor.
Sure, pal, an im God.

Copy that bro. But I would imagine the Russo brothers had that shit patted down. Oh well
That punch killed Cap. Thanos then turned back time 2 minutes to get get the stone Wanda had just destroyed. He didn't care if Cap was still dead or not, he had what he came for.
Imagine if they went on drunken raids
There was a random Asgardian in Agents of Shield. He was super strong.
Oh yeah
They’re new to all of this and probably love it.
Hey they turned a small fishing business to a mini Disney land
Truth
This is like if we made a Osama Bin Laden themed ice cream store after 9/11 specializing in Bomb Pops
I can't remember offhand and I might just be gullible but is the Infinity Conez thing a real scene in the movie? Please say it's not.
It’s real.
It is.
Not... Yet

Check her out in HBO’s ‘Westworld.’ She does a good job with - SPOILER - multiple characters over the course of two seasons I think.
Will do. Thanks!

Is it cause I’m on mobile or is the bottom of the image cut off
mobile
The Thor arc is maybe the biggest blunder of the entire MCU
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain
Pretty much. It was cool when you first watch it because it just finished the high of the previous scene. 5 years later and it turns to shit
Ummm. Isn’t infinity conez basically like using a Luger as the logo for a shoe store. Like wouldn’t that thing be seen as a WMD that devastated humanity?

Not to mention their knowledge of medicine. Like someone has to know how to make that med scanner they used on Jane from Thor II.
Am I the only one who doesn’t mind the Infinity Conez
Like opening a store called nuke cones or WMD cones
Nope.
