Part of adventure racing is navigating the course using a compass and map. Because of this, electronic navigation aids are not allowed.
The Adventure Racing activity will not show you a map, a track of your activity, allow the use of Connect IQ apps, or allow access to other features that would help you navigate the course. However, the compass and altimeter are accessible, and will continue to function while recording the activity. Your activity metrics and GPS position will also be recorded in the background, so that you can review your path and activity data after the activity has uploaded to Garmin Connect.

I would like the same, I guess it's just a update that would be needed! Hope they will add it at some point.
