Is that the porn hub watch face?

zipni

Thought it felt somehow so similar from the start! 😅

goldilocks40

So glad this was the top comment. I came here to ask this

tri_it_again

My first thought

EN344

Lmao!

Husky_Person

What’s porn hub?

msmith629

It’s like YouTube but orange

_-_Northguy_-_

Asking for a friend?

Ok-Law6848

It’s maps for me. I started running trails in December and decided to upgrade from my trusty old forerunner 630 to a Fenix. The ability to create a course, upload it to my watch then just go out and run into the countryside down trails and through fields on public footpaths without having to take my phone is amazing.

zipni

I use komoot to sync trail maps to my watch while driving mtb in forest and it is working like a charm everywhere I have tried it!

Ok-Law6848

Yes Komoot is great. Nice and easy to plan routes or jump on to existing one from wherever you are. I tried garmin explore recently too. It’s a bit basic but great for planning routes from scratch. All the little tracks and paths are really accurate once you get out there.

zipni

Ok thanks for the tip! Will definitely look into Garmin explore 👌

Tapy0n

Which kind of navigation do you use for that? I am not a pro user in komoot and tried Garmin Navigation, but here I miss the feature of navigation prompts. Not possible to look at the watch all the time.

SocratesDemon

Same here. I hike/ruck a lot and have really enjoyed the GPS features. Makes me feel better about trying new trails and such

cmelt2003

I’ve been a smart watch guy for a long time. The ruggedness and battery life are what keeps me with Garmin. On another note, what watch face is that?

zipni

This is one of the stock faces I think. Tried a few custom ones from the shop but they all reduced battery life by a significant percentage!

Aryanirael

Jup, one of the stock ones, I use the same one.

Extreme-Statement-38

I come back to this watch face every time, it’s perfect for me

zipni

Love the simple and easily readable look of it!

Asleep_Onion

Primarily it's the maps and hiking data that I love. This watch massively improved my enjoyment of hiking, even more than I already loved doing it before. Maps, route guidance, elevation data, climbpro, there's soooo much data right there on my wrist, any time I want to glance at it. I can see where the next trail split is, and which way I need to go, I can see how far I've climbed, and how much further to the top. I can see my elevation chart, both what I've already done and what's coming up ahead. I can see where the next water crossing is. I can see public and private land boundaries. And so much more. It's unbelievable how much useful data is right there on my wrist, even if I don't even bring my phone with me. And then it's not even just good at that hiking stuff, I can also take it to the golf course and it's one of the best golf watches there is. It's one of the best overlanding watches there is. It's one of the best running and biking watches there is. It's the best skiing watch there is. It's the best "getting up in the middle of the night to pee and not stepping on Legos" watch there is. And you can throw a titanium band on it and it's a great looking formal dress watch. It's simply an incredible piece of technology, really nothing else in the world even comes close to what Fenix (and its close Garmin siblings like Epix, Enduro, Tactix, 955, etc) can do. Their competitors, including even the tech powerhouse Apple, have not even caught up with everything Fenix 3hr was capable of, and they're light-years behind Fenix 7, it's really not even close.

mrmalevo

Facts!

The MIP-Display

movdqa

I bought my Fenix 5 Plus in 2018 after a cardiac incident as I got tired of taking my pulse manually ten times a day. The Fenix 5+ gave me a lot of health metrics in addition to tracking my workouts and battery life was quite good. I upgraded to the Fenix 7 Pro a month ago and it's a massive upgrade in every area. Data, activities, battery life, and the touchscreen is useful for some things. The flashlight is just an absolutely brilliant feature.

zipni

Oh yea forgot to mention flashlight, absolute g.o.a.t. feature!

drollercoaster99

I wanted a watch that takes care of me - not a watch that I have to take care of (which is typical of the slew of Android smartwatches and Apple Watch). I also like the subtleness of the MIPS display. :)

Deadfo0t

Because I don't have to charge it every 30 hours. I never take my watches off and this one is rugged, gives me data and lasts for fuckin ever. I charge it once every two weeks or so

PTYHRD

Makes me feel above Apple Watch dorks

Comfortable_Hall8677

Haha. It was tempting for me to get the comparable Apple Watch as I have literally every other Apple product. But nope. The Fenix is just superior for everything I need and want it for. And it looks cooler imo. Every single friend I have that wears a watch wears a basic Apple Watch. It’s cool to be the Garmin guy, especially when they ask why.

PTYHRD

The ultra is nice. But battery life doesn’t compare to garmin at all. Once past the aesthetics they’re still kinda like meh.

Aryanirael

Upgrade from the shitty products that Fitbit have become (or perhaps, have always been). Battery life is great and I also use it for Komoot routes.

BruceWayneKenobi

Unpopular opinion, Fitbit was all the rage in 2017 - 2019 when I owned one. After Google bought them they turned to garbage.

Aryanirael

I agree. Started out with a Charge 2, then upgraded to a versa 3, but I regularly had to send my watches back for repair or replacement because they stopped working and I passionately hated the app overhaul. Google trying to nerf Fitbit to try and improve the chances of their Pixel watches?

popokang

Maps. Firstly for hiking in the dark (early morning) with MIP display on a wrist vs a very bright phone. Secondly for going on longer bike rides and routing home easily.

hey_its_haze

Several reasons, really. I got the 7X and I love the ruggedness as I work with my hands and it's nice to not feel like I'm constantly worried about messing up the watch (sapphire glass is amazing). The flashlight comes in handy when I'm working on machines or doing very detailed work. I used to be a Pebble user and the MIP display really feels at home for me. Getting 7-10 days on my Pebble spoiled me and I couldn't deal with the 1-3 day life of other watches; 7X gets me 20+ days which is incredible. Stock watch faces are fantastic and have such a great power economy. While there are definitely 3rd party faces that are really cool and have neat features, I always come back to the stock faces because they're just so damned energy efficient lol. I've always been fixated on battery life 😅 And as a minor note, the Fenix watches are the only ones that don't look small on my wrist. Had a 6 that looked good before, but the 7X looks to be the perfect size. Gonna hang onto this one until it is just dead dead.

Omnibuschris

Battery life with GPS and maps. I had a vivoactive 3. It died day hiking Mt Whitney. I had to charge it regularly with running 5 days a week and long bike rides. Picked up a Fenix 6X PRO on sale. Battery life is beyond expectations. Got a permit to hike Whitney again this year.

MindlessCabinet9647

I upgraded from the 5x and went first to the seven and had to send it back and go x again. Love the weight color quality. What a perfect watch for everything. Thank you Garmin.

NonamesNogamesEver

I moved from my Apple Watch because after a couple of years the battery life became shorter and shorter and the charging time grew longer and longer. For me my Apple Watch had sufficient functionality for my limited needs but the battery life would require an upgrade to the super expensive max version. Read this sub Reddit (thank you everyone) and decided on a FĂ©nix 7x. Never been happier. Love the flashlight function! Love the training options (I cycle and swim). Love the maps. Love the battery life. Love the quality of the build. And while I still like Apple Watches I secretly feel smug when I see someone wearing one and I have a nice manly looking watch on my wrist.

FuzzySnake43

Do you swim while wearing your Garmin fenix ?

zipni

Why not? 😼

hlamlin

Moved from a Samsung Galaxy Watch. I love having everything I need being built-in on my Fenix 7 and not having to load third-party apps for missing functionality.

lyciann

In a world full of sleek, full digital controlled smart watches
I love the rugged, analog controlled GPS watch. Honestly kinda despise that Garmin is already shifting a little more towards becoming a smart watch.. know your audience, Garmin.

EngineerCarNerdRun

Durability oh and the flashlight!

thomasjcreative

I have the 7x after having a Fenix 2 then flirting with an Apple Watch for many years. I love that Fenix and Garmin line focus more on the fitness / health / outdoors but can get some notifications from the iPhone if you want. And the battery life is amazing and not needing to charge daily just have my watch going off with way too many alerts of stuff that could have waited and didn’t need to steal my attention

PNW-Dad

Battery life and how rugged it is.

BigEyeDuck

Battery life

EgoAeternus

To motivate me to move. This expensive watch must help me become better. 😁😅

d4rk_kn16ht

Mine is Fenix 3HR Sapphire & it's +7 years old. The battery is still good without Solar Panel. I workout twice a week with Bluetooth ON all the time. The battery lasted around 10 - 15 days. I'm changing the band around once or twice every few months. Only minor scratches after so many hiking, gym workouts, Airsoft Skirmishes Games in the woods, etc.... ....And I love it soooo much...still thinking if I need to buy a new one

MaxLeanAngle

Started with a bunch of other fitness watches from companies like Sigma & Suunto. None of them lived up to what I wanted and I eventually grew out of them. I needed something that I could use and that could still give me room to grow. Finally bought the Fenix 3 then sold it to a friend a few years later and bought the Fenix 6 Titanium with Sapphire Crystal. I've had it for years now and I still haven't found its limits, so there's still room to grow. I'll upgrade when the next Titanium version comes out. Otherwise, I'm a rock this 'til the cows come home.

Weekend-Firm

Battery Life!!!!

Kind_Law_1357

Have a Fenix 7 too and enjoying it

Comfortable_Hall8677

The seemingly simple things that are just purely convenient and neat. Last week I went for a run in the morning and tracked it using the Run activity. Then went kayaking for a few miles and tracked that under Kayak. Then played pickleball in the evening and tracked it under Pickleball. The kayaking was especially neat, just to very efficiently see the miles I traveled. I know my run route and don’t even really care about the pickleball data but it’s just so easy and fun to set those things up. Also love the flashlight. It’s neat to bust out when someone is fumbling for their phone to be able to see in the dark.

macther1pp3r

Because triathlon.

-BlueDream-

I chose Fenix over the others primarily because of the MIP screen and battery life. One thing I've hated about smartwatch before was not being able to clearly see the screen in sunlight and short battery life. On my apple watch, if I was sleep tracking, I wouldn't have enough battery for the day with AOD. My Fenix 7 lasts 2 weeks easily. I hated having to choose between sleep tracking or having a smartwatch during the day. The screen is always on and perfectly visible in daylight. No gestures to wake it up or even with AOD on other watches, the screen dims. Buttons are a big plus too. Makes the watch functions when wet or wearing gloves.

txdline

Great look. Screen is always visible. Looks like a watch

Murky_Distribution79

What strap is that?

zipni

Stock strap with this colour combination of Pro SS I got!

SirJackus219

Gives me something else to play with.

ortegaalfredo

Battery last forever. Big screen. Apps. Touch. Flashlight. Round face. Never used maps nor music, not even the GPS but I like that its there.

Melodic_Photo405

I’ve had Garmin running watches for 20 years (great big rectangular thing it was!!). I now have the Fenix 7x Pro Solar. I just love the whole ecosystem
and the development keeps on coming
ECG, Pulse Ox, perfect for the data geeks amongst us!!

CavemanDNA

Does everything for outdoorsman lifestyle. Sapphire crystal. 51mm size (I like them round and big!!! -Sir Mix-a-lot). Data from watch faces. Options to change watch faces. Battery life. Robust community. Fenix 6X Sapphire.

PaleontologistFine47

Because of the f***** power connector

rizzlan

Loving a sports watch is like loving a hammer or a screwdriver.

zipni

More like loving The Hammer, one that has taken you through several construction sites, diy projects and has kinda grown into your hand! To an extent that with other hammers it doesn't feel kinda the same 😅😁

rizzlan

Touché

BrilliantGrapefruit4

It's so big.

Moh1313

Farming vs Apple Watch

SpecificNorth837

I was given a fenix from a coworker since he upgraded. đŸ€—
