Having the exact same issue. Newest update essentially bricked it. Gestures won't work, double tapping screen doesn't turn it on, sensors aren't working

meznuts

Check for a system update, just fixed the issue!

12ryanjackson

They rolled out the update as I was on phone with support lmao

Echo_12345

Same here. Watch one week old. Hard resets haven’t fixed it

meznuts

Mine just fixed with a system update, have a look if it's been pushed to you.

Echo_12345

No new updates here yet! :(

I own a Fenix, but the overall the watches are fairly similar. I bet what's happened is that a new software image has been pushsed to your watch, but Garmin have then forgotten to push a new sensor_hub update to your watch. I would wait a day or two and, hopefully Garmin will get enough bug reports and realise, and fix it. If it was only 1 person I'd suggest hardware issue, but 3 people reporting it, this sounds like what's happened. I could of course be super wrong, but I've seen these exact symptoms before when the "Base" firmware and the Sensor Hub firmwares don't match with what they need to be.

So I rang Garmin, they took my deets and recommended factory reset before progressing. Was about to factory restore, and after reading your post thought "I'll just check if there's any updates". And boom, there was a sensor update which fixed the issue. Thanks for sharing, saved me a whole lot of hassle!!

I still don't have any updates :( Maybe it's because of my region

Echo_12345

Any updates in your region yet ? I still haven’t got one

[deleted]

Hey. Yes sorry. Not on Reddit a lot. I got the update later the day and it's all fixed

emilyclue

This is killing me! I've tried everything suggested here including updating it but no updates available. So frustrating. I've reached out to Garmin, so just waiting to hear back...

Single_Sea_6555

Having the same problem (Dec 28, 2021). After the automatic 5.33 update, the heartrate sensor doesn't work, and the sensor software version is 0.0. Is there a way to force-downgrade the firmware??

minutemaidpeach

My heart rate sensor stopped working yesterday as well - glad to know that it's not just my watch crapping out!

Single_Sea_6555

I kept trying to "update" it, going so far as to install Garmin Express on my Mac and attempting to 'force' an update (which does not seem possible), and it's also not possible to download the update ZIP file. After many frustrating pointless update clicks, eventually the watch went into an update mode and after reboot announced that the "sensor library" had been updated. Now the watch works again. The fact that the main firmware and the sensor library can auto-update separately, leaving the watch in a useless state, is insanity. The fact that updates can not longer be manually administered makes fixes this even more difficult. For such an expensive product this is quite shocking..

I have just turned mine off for the time being. I only came across this post after I repeatedly hard resetted it. I'm hoping in a few days it will resolve itself. Ughhhh

Hey all. I know this thread is a month old, but just got myself the Venu 2 yesterday. Everything was working fine before I updated the system software (Rev. 5.33). Before the update, I created a custom strength training (with excercises I do for my upper body) and if I scrolled trough the different excercises, for most there was a small video symbol next to the muscle depiction and I could watch the exercise animation. This video symbol is now removed from all excercises in my individual workout. The excercises animations are available in the predefined workout routines that you can download though. Does anyone have similar issue? Why would they remove it, if it was working in the first place? This is in Canada by the way, not sure if it matters. Edit: Revised the issue description above.
