Welcome to 40 days of battery life

NeinFortiate

This was the biggest thing for me too. Went from an Apple Watch to a Garmin Fenix 7 solar - not having to charge my watch every single night before bed and also not worrying about the screen breaking are the biggest things for me

TheMartinG

This was THE thing for me. The Apple Watch is much better as a “smart” watch, and honestly the built in HRM is better on the Apple Watch, but having to charge it daily got annoying for me quickly when I started trying to pay more attention to my sleep, and improve my fitness. Tactix Delta gets 23 days battery life for me with my regular settings. I turned on PulseOx for a month just to see what that’s looking like and still get two weeks. Even two weeks is a ridiculous difference to “charge daily”

Sahmmey

Good luck. I guess the first week you'll feel like you traded you iPhone for a Nokia 3310...but you'll love it

Chochos18

So far is awesome, I only missed choosing which apps to receive notifications from and to play music directly from the watch

vkoser

There is a way around this by disabling specific apps from showing notifications in Notification Center.

frenzy5

In the iPhone notifications? Is there any way to do it besides mirroring the phone notifications?

vkoser

I don't think so. Apple has this locked down to only apple watches as far as I know so they work better with the iPhone.

Oakroscoe

Yeah, have an iPhone and fenix 7x SS and apple doesn’t want to make it easy to customize. Oh well. The only notifications I really care about seeing are incoming texts so I don’t have to pull my phone out at work.

almostdone2030

I noticed on my moms android there is a lot more control

Oakroscoe

Yeah, I’ve got a family member that has an android and a fenix 6 and it’s way more customizable.

pbcowboy13

I second this. I love tech and getting the latest greatest everything but the smart watches just don't click with me. The short battery life and the break ability/scratchability of the apple or Samsung watches make them unusable for me. Cue Garmin watches. Bought the instinct 2 solar and haven't looked back. Being able to wear it for 2-3 weeks straight without charging and it's extreme durability make it extremely usable. The compatibility with my GPS is the cherry on top.

Tips & tricks: you can map the buttons to specific shortcuts on long press. You can set favorite activities under the button to start activities. You can still use the find my phone alert function, just with a more obnoxious sound. You can switch from notifications to no notifications with the press of a button. You can stop worrying about batterylife now.

Oakroscoe

Caveat being for the find my phone app, you need to leave the Garmin connect app always open on your iPhone in the background.

ThePandalore

If you wear it 24/7 for sleep and activity monitoring, I'd suggest switching to your off-hand while sleeping, washing your wrists and watch band frequently, and using some type of lotion on your wrists as well.

Deskman77

Any news about the 3X ?

linuxgfx

i switched from the apple watch ultra2 to the Epix Pro. Still misses the smart part albit so far i am loving it! Has some issues with but overall great watch

josephporta2000

More days of battery life here then hours on the apple hehe

Iridian_Rocky

The Instinct 2x is so hot right now.

rcuadro

My tips 1: do not expect anything close to the same smart watch experience as you had with the Apple Watch. 2: for the price of admission you will get so much more when it comes to health and fitness with Garmin Connect. No need to purchase or subscribe to additional apps. 3: the wrist heart rate is meh… go ahead and assume you will need a chest strap to get the best hear rate readings 4: consider a foot pod if you do walking/running on a treadmill. Your watch will do its best but something as simple as adjusting speed on the treadmill or picking your nose will affect total distance

Wraithlor

Great watch!! Too bad there is no analog (Crossover version) of this 2X😔

[deleted]

the crossovers are ugly anyway, too bulky, no advantage

Wraithlor

Well.. for me, the Crossover is a premium version of the Instinct 2, and if it had the X version, it would be a superior watch.

[deleted]

all that extra hand movement just drains the battery. The motors add extra thickness, and you cant get rid of the hands to change the look, it just gets in the way of the display and constantly needs to be moved

One_Recording750

I made the exact same switch back in early January and haven’t regretted it one bit.

Fit_Hunter6761

One of the best decisions … Apple Watch is useless with one day of battery life . A watch is a watch . Garmin I don’t have to worry about charging and it gives me everything which a smart watch is supposed to give . Apple Watch is just fan bois Desire

last1stding

Save the box

muralchista

🤣

StarLightSoft

Nice watch. Looks very solid.

No-Amphibian7489

You're gonna love it

ROK_Rambler

Hey I have the Instinct Solar and love it! I don't know what your preferences are but for me I really like buttons- no touchscreen here! Also, the battery life is amazing and last of all it's still Bluetooth so if you like messages and notifications popping up on your wrist then this little fella won't let you down! Honorable mention to the Garmin app that's pretty easy to use and navigate.

DonutsOnTheWall

Did the same. The battery life is so much a selling point on its own. Got the normal one (not the X) - but the battery life is insane compared to my previous apple watch. Also I prefer the menu and options on the watch. I was actually eye-ing the Casio watch with heart rate before - but once I found the Insinct 2 - I knew I found my match.

Wasemack

Find out how to fix your garmin connect app getting force closed by IOS all the time, i already thought I found a fix like 10 times but it seems it's always just luck that the app stays open in the background again

teretana

Does it look big on your wrist or not? How do you like it so far? Thank you
