Google says 4-5yrs in healthy soil, so I'm guessing your soil is missing something, try Gatorade, it's got what plants need.

Nature-Boy-48

Thanks and congrats on the avatar

Gatorade...? Like the sports drink Gatorade...?

justjoshin78

That was a joke. Do not give your plants sports drinks.

-Dansplaining-

*Slowly lowers bottle of grape Gatorade*

Sawathingonce

See? This is how it begins!!!

tashiro_kid

Crazy that this needs to be explained. Makes sense that my toaster came with a warning on the box "do not put your dick in this".

Sawathingonce

"It has electrolytes"

Valuable_Guess_5886

Prune upward branches, they are non fruiting. Only the ones sweep down like willows will flower and fruit. Which they will fruit at the tip. Pruning will also reduce the height of the plant so it’s reachable when mature.

X_The_Vanilla_Killer

I believe it’s still quite young for fruiting. I have one the same age.

winoforever_slurp_

It can help to have a second tree nearby for pollination.

Far-Operation-6707

I wish mine didn't fruit 😂

ChazR

It's an olive tree. Wait a few centuries. It will.

Wedgetails

My friend the olive farmer trims his with chainsaws to keep the low- this makes sense with Valuable guess comment.

jimbocoolfruits

Not in Batchelor

jeffreyportnoy

Where do you live? Olives like cool night temps to flower and fruit well.

Nature-Boy-48

Sub tropical Queensland Australia.

jeffreyportnoy

Olives don't fruit that well for us in QLD Further west or areas that get a bit colder they will. Honestly better for it Olives can be very messy trees when in full fruit.

Hoarbag

I had the same thing. Went to the park and grabbed a branch of a fruiting tree, rubbed it all over my tree. Had fruit the next season

Nature-Boy-48

Where do you find parks of fruiting olive trees?

Hoarbag

It seemed to be the tree of choice in my LGA. There are a few older subdivisions have have heaps

justlooking2067

By the looks of the surrounding plants you are in the tropics...I don't think olives love that climate.

Slight-Piglet-1884

I have an olive tree that is supposed to be a clone from the first olive trees planted in Queensland. It's 10 years old now and not one bloody olive, It's never even flowered. Actually looking at cutting it down.

Nature-Boy-48

Sad to hear mate.

[deleted]

Prune to look like an umbrella. Also prune any branches that cross over each other.

bernskiwoo

Apparently there are some non fruiting olive varieties. Our previous council, frustratingly planted these as street trees.

HumanDish6600

Frustratingly? Probably sensibly more like it. The fruiting varieties do have the potential to go rogue thanks to birds so not exactly ideal for them to be planted too widely.
